As I slogged into the house after
braving a ravenous winter storm,
the only thing I expected was to dry off
and warm up by the fire,
and proceed to put myself to bed.
What I did find was so much more.
As I walked into the family room,
my breath stuck in my throat.
Everything was beautiful
My parents must have just
come home from the tree farm,
because the fresh scent
of an evergreen pine
wafted throught the room
like the smell of homemade
It was pleasantly decorated
with some cheerful lights
and family ornaments.
A few expertly wrapped
presents lay under the tree,
and I could harly resist
the temptation to bend down
and check which one's were
As I moved on, I stopped
in front of the fireplace, and
was mesmerized by the dancing
flames, the smoke drifting
lazily up the chimney.
The word implanted itself
in the front of my brain.
What a perfect word to
describe what i was
I glanced up from the fireplace
and noted how carefully pl

Even when those who claim no religion as their own,
Open their mouths, minds and hearts in hope for another;
Each little spark that rises from the heart of someone
In the hope of a Devine Intervention to save a life,
Each is collected until a Heavenly fire burns
And angels get the call;
Someone needs help.
I've never really believed the verse that says
When two or more are gathered in His name
God will be there and listen...
But this morning many gathered,
Some in His name,
And sent their sparks of hope skyward.
I owe my life not to the fact that I failed at failing,
But to those who never lost their spark of hope.
And to you, one day, I will be able to say thank you;
Meaning the words instead of uttering them like a mantra.
Your sparks ignited a fire in Heaven,
And God listened.

Through life's challenges I will glide
Changing direction with the breeze
Opportunity I will seize
Scarlet wings, potential power
Beautiful as the first flower
Precious tail feathers, painted gold
I wasn't born to fit the mould
Not always strong as I'm portrayed
Visions of the future have frayed
Sorrow fills my melodic song
Everything I've become feels wrong
Cried so many tears, they fail to heal
Pain so intense, I can't conceal
I fear I've given up the fight
Bursting into flame I ignite
Out of the ashes I will rise
Reborn, I'm yesterdays disguise
Always soaring through clouded skies
Memories lurk behind these eyes
Guided by the knowledge of my past
The lessons learned will forever last
I'll clean my wounds, and heal these scars
Spread my wings, and reach for the stars

manner of magic, tragically static
in the havoc i inhabit--
but you're drastically iconoclastic,
in the depths of my whirling madness
you're only searching for the sadness
tearing down veils on your no rails trail
through the hell i've made for myself
oh the tales you'll tell when you've sailed
my deadly seas, nearly drowning in my ink
just to get to me
just so you can be the spark in the dark that
kickstarts my heart and parts me from the
part of me that was guarding me--
tonight you're my light as i wander from
this shadowed, hollowed hollow and into
the hallowed dream of tomorrow; sorrows
unchained from my brain, inspiration flows
free, a shivering river of prose and poetry--
all thanks to an amused muse who defused
my defenses and infused me with intention
so pay attention:
you've ignited me, incited me and righted me
and now i'm a brighter me, alive with
inspired fire and capable of burning the turning
world with a verse about a universe that

Love can evolve from a tiny spark,
As your soul finds its missing part.
And a simple kiss can spark desire
If love's home is in your heart.
Kindness shown when you need it most
Can spark tears in eyes once dry.
And as they water carpeted ground
Your soul grows back its wings and flies.
An open hand to help you up,
When you're cowering, alone,
Can spark the strength to carry on
And show how much you've grown.
Words, which are spoken in humanity,
Can spark courage, strength and hope.
But the words that slice with every syllable,
Spark the desire to dangle from a rope.
You never know how much you've got to give,
Until life puts you through its paces.
And you never know what spark will ignite,
Until circumstances rear their ugly faces.
