First of all, I want to start by saying that this is an image I am sure I would not have drawn had it not been for this competition. I have sketched him a few times, and even thought about doing colored illustrations in the past, but I never had a reason to do so until now.

When I was a child I was afraid of the dark and especially afraid of what was in the closet. I was about 5 when my mom found out. A few days later she bought me washable crayons. She told me to draw pictures (of me, my friends, cartoons I loved, or anything that would make me happy) on the wall near my closet. She told me that if I did so, my scary closet would transform into warm sun. A Sun that would give light to the world on my wall with the pull of a string.

From that moment on I was still afraid of the dark but I was never afraid of my closet again. However, to this day my mom has yet to figure out what I had drawn on my wall. It was neither a friend I knew or a cartoon she knew I watched...it was me and a figure whom I called "Hhol".

For the life of me I do not remember drawing anyone whom I called "Hhol". I do however remember drawing strange figures on the wall. For reasons I can only attribute to the scary movies I watched as a kid, this is what I imagine "Hhol" looked like...and it's probably why I was afraid of my closet when I was 5 :cries:

Sorry for long description, I held this for a long time. I wish everyone good luck in the contest =)

Golden Cat
by Distant Starr (RAA)

As for illustration category, one of my digital works has been used as a book cover [link] . I believe the fighter jet meets the criteria of a figure as Robot, because it can independently carry out many function in autopilot mode such as flying and refueling in midair. Also, the dictionary definition of Robot says " a machine capable of carrying out a complex series of actions automatically, esp. one programmable by a computer." Anyway, I hope you like this golden tomcat flying in the sunset with afterburners matching the golden rays of the setting sun :)

My entry for the Train your Brain Challenge.

A faraway world beneath the surface of the earth, which is traversed by mushroom-like lifeforms. A trio of wicked faeries is exploring this peaceful marshland in the name of their evil godmother. - Something like that;)

I hope you like it! - Thank you for coming by:)

I never really imagined a snarling beast hiding in the closet or anything, just something lurking, which in someways is even more disturbing. Of course as a kid I probably wouldn't have thought of these exact details, but I have to put this artistic license to use.

As a child I was always terrified of monsters coming up from the basement and especially scared of them nabbing my heel just before I get off of the last step on my way up. So in the spirit of this, here is my entry for the contest and something that I probably would have believed in as a kid coming up from the depths and chasing me... Click twice for the full view :) the other ones aren't as clear for some reason
