A Move is MadeA silence descends
So quiet it echoes in the dark.
The message is sends,
One of the ending of a spark.
All may be lost,
In the game of the heart.
To win at what cost?
For you may lose before you start.
A move has been made,
In this strange shielded game.
The hand kept in shade,
Nothing will ever be the same.

Of stories never told.
Share your hopes and share your dreams,
Until your blood runs cold.
In the light I’ll keep them,
In an illusion that is real.
I will mould the world around you,
To erase everything you feel.
Trust me or deceive me,
Either will be my due.
In the end I will be victorious,
In the end I’m you.

Keep secrets on my tongue.
Do not worry on journey’s end,
Your path has just begun.
This trial of life is hard love,
A rocky road that we are on.
Be it fast or be it slow,
It will one day be gone.
So tarry not in sadness love,
Its weight will crush you down.
Its burdens hide the hope of life,
Of being here with everyone.
For life is lived but once love,
That is what they say.
So take my hand and hold on tight.
I’ll stay with you on the way.
Soul and Steel - Chapter 1The ballroom was filled with the gathering Lord Darlington had thrown for his nearest and dearest, which meant all the nobility in London that didn't reside in Cheapside of course. It gleamed with gold leaf and the finest examples of modern decoration and architecture in this industrial century. Newly built as a symbol of his money and long family history and service to Queen Victoria. To most it was a symbol of the power of the advancing British Empire, to some it was simply gaudy. Lottie just wondered if it was a matter of perspective.Soul and Steel - Chapter 12 years ago in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
Couples danced in sets in the centre of the room watched on by others, and tucked away in one corner Lottie taps her fan agitatedly against her legs as she looks out across the dancers, stopping only when her best friend's hand rests on hers. She gives her best friend, a one Lady Eleanor Northgood, a grateful smile.
"You need to relax my dear," her friend's soft intoned voice reaches her ears, even over the music of the string band playing in one corne
Seeking SilenceTo sit silent in the still of night,Seeking Silence5 months ago in Traditional Fixed Forms More Like This
Be fearful of a whisper.
To be still as the creeping rock,
Making the silence crisper.
To cease the sound of beating heart,
And stifle shifting breath.
To be as timeless as the hills,
Let no soul be bereft.
Pause between the tick and tock,
The meaning left between.
To see the darkness of the heart,
Simply as the unseen.
Sink down into the earth below,
As if to padded throne.
Feel the power of greatest truth,
Right to the very bone.
For all great deeds and finest arts,
Come from men alone.
Reach up and capture heaven then,
It is the peace you now have known.

I am everything you've ever been.
Dressed in shadow, black as night,
If you seek me I take flight.
I'll hunt you down and seek you out,
Always I shall root you out.
Never will you my shadow find,
My beautiful golden hind.
Right behind yet far away,
I see you as plain as day.
Can you name me, do you know fear?
I shall take all you hold dear.
Slipping past fingers without a trace,
Behind your eyes no hiding place.
A nameless one cannot be killed,
You should never have made me this skilled.
A looming past, a bolt of blue,
We both know my aim is true.
A press of crimson, red as blood,
Nothing could ever stop that flood.
A place for red, a place for blue,
Only in dark will they shine true.
Clad in black I'll rise anew,
A beautiful new bird.
And I come for you
Silent NowThe guns are silent now,Silent Now5 months ago in Traditional Fixed Forms More Like This
As quiet as the lives they took.
Standing still row on row,
Cold on ground once shook.
The fields are empty now,
Soldiers glorified or dead.
When all deeds were brought low,
When all good reason fled.
These are the common men,
Who fought for uncommon cause.
Remember who that fell then,
and take a moments pause.
Fight a war only once,
Never forget their face.
Wear a Poppy on Poppy Day.
Always remember their fate.

"Don't mention it," Trevor returned.
The landing looked the same as George had remembered after all these years. Well, almost the same. Maybe starting to show its years, but heh, so was he. All right, so not quite the same. Actually really run down. George winced.
Trevor wore a poker face, but just then he broke into a whistle.
"It's better around breakfast than lunch, but I'm just glad you could come at all. Thanks again," George babbled.
"Don't mention it," Trevor murmured. "I mean, you're welcome. Dad."
"This'll be just like old times! We'll sit, and fish, and stop and have sandwiches, except Tessie made them instead of your mother."
"Yeah. I love you, Dad."
They situated themselves on the dock, and George set down a blanket and arranged their equipment on it. Trevor tried to help, but George had a system and stuck to it, so

My great strength and my pain.
My burden becomes my heart,
Creates my finish and my start.
Ever living yet not alive,
For purpose I must always strive.
I am the darkness and the light,
All that's wrong and all that's right.
The leap of faith, The urge to fall,
Both can bring an end to all.
In the balance I must stand,
Between trusting jump and pushing hand.
I am the shining star and darkest void,
All that is born and all destroyed.
A passing thought becomes the deed,
The greatest gift and the greatest greed.
A power to shape the world entire,
The confusion of the heart’s desire.
I am both known and unknown,
Always surrounded yet always alone.
A myth entire and unyielding truth,
The oldest of men and the freshest youth.
A march of peace to the drums of war,
Always wondering what it all is for.
My name is the raindrop on the sand,
The twisting storm, the final stand.
The falling sky and the uplifted heart,
The bitter truth and the liar’s art.

And the hurt and tears
Shall turn to smiles and cheers
Let me be your strength
Let me be your shoulder
To keep your pain away, at an arms length

My heart, for you, my love
Give me yours
Safe keeping's my middle name, little dove
It's no chore
I shall keep it hidden and locked away
Just promise you won't take it back someday

You could be whatever you wanted to be.
I wanted dinosaurs and pets.

A job that ended with something cool like ologist.
In what you say? It didn’t matter.
For me a scientist or ologist.

Don’t hold be back. Just maybe
I could have that white coat that told me,
Yes you find out the secrets of this reality.
That dream was not to be,
Rent from me with the falling tide of economy
and the wakeup call that we could not have it all.
Perhaps now I’d be a writer, storyteller.
The creator of some other world,
It’s secrets not to be found but told.

Where some time in the future you might gaze.

The Betrayal - Chapter 1The Betrayal - Chapter 13 years ago in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
"David", my father roars as I try to sneak past his watchful gaze towards my place at Indicative table.
"Yes, fat-t-ther" I stutter as he stares me down with his spiraling golden eyes.
I instinctively bow, hoping that he will simply soften, as I am making myself lower than him. Instead he says something completely unexpected, that makes me freeze and hold my breath, waiting for a punch line. But, no I'm not granted such mercy.
"Your time has come" he states, with power radiating from his voice. All around, silence befalls. "Bu-u-t" I once again stutter, my voice sounding feeble.
"Noooo!!" I hear someone yell.
"Julius, you cannot do such a thing, I will not allow it."
Raising my head, I see it is my radiant mother -who has spoken out of turn- still glowing from her transformation. She runs to me, terror in her liquid turquoise eyes, her long silver hair falling over my shoulder as she eloped me in a hug.
My shoulders shake as the full extent of what my father has said com

Old shoes tattered on my feet.
Why continue on?
Every step feels like defeat.
Stand amongst the crowd.
Feel the tide around you.
How can you go on,
When every face is new.
There can be no peace,
When the world is full of lies.
With so much all around,
I find my heart just cries.
Your words resound within,
A common cord of despair.
My air's corroded too.
I stand with you there.
