My Best Motivational TipWhen I become overcome with the guilt and shame and fear as a result of my constant procrastination, I have one trick to get me off my ass that works every time.
Now, lots of other people and blogs and whatever are all like "look how lucky you are" and "puppies and rainbows" and "if you get it done now, you'll feel better" and lots of other positive shit. While all this stuff is true, I'm still playing Assassin's Creed II for like four hours a day. It doesn't motivate me at all. I still don't want to write a 500 word essay on the subtle differences between the book and the film adaptation of The Road that's due, like, tomorrow.
So here's what I think of.
"Michael Bay wants me to fail."
Insert your own celebrity arch nemesis if you want to, but basically choose someone so crap that it makes you angry. Preferably someone who's getting paid buckets of money to do whatever they do to piss you off.
Competitive nature and the desire to prove your chosen asshole wrong should take over.

Without the extra day every 4 years, we would be in 2013.
As the Mayan Calendar doesn't take leap years into account; 2012 has been and gone.

Event 4 - Snowflake Gifts: I have a proposal for everyone. It is no secret that there is a lot of tension in the air here; many small and large events are all adding up, weighing down upon you all. I can see that, it is obvious. I did agree to come here to help quell these problems, but so far, not much has come of that. So, I have a thought, an idea. As it turns out, my... birthday is coming up, and I would like something from each of you.Event 4 - Snowflake Gifts3 years ago in Personal More Like This

: Woah what? You have a birthday? Aren't you like... well, I guess all dragons came from an egg.
: Of course I have a birthday. In any case, what I would like is rather simple. I would really enjoy if you each gave someone important to you a gift to show you

Paramount has shut down pre-production on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot over "script problems".
Translation; Paramount realised that if they continued down the path Bay was going, fans would probably burn their studios to the ground.
With luck (and a dollop of common sense) the project will be shelved altogether and the IP left fallow until competent directors/producers are brought on board.
I'm going to pretend my little campaign helped with this
Post mortem 2011Its time to close another chapter in my life for 2011. Its been an awesome year, alot of self-development going on in my life and I owe it to many people that walked into my life. Five years... felt like yesterday I walked into my first job as an animator back in 2007. Truthfully, I never liked being an animator but I don't hate it. I'd learn alot in doing animation and post-production (its fun to edit stuff sometimes) but my real love is in doing illustrations, and concepts. Bleh, if you see my animation work, you'll burn your eye sockets. haha
Since I want to do more illustration stuff, I decided to work my way to become a concept artist, keep on practicing, drawing inspirations, doing background and visual designs for various projects, over-influenced by other masters, re-evaluate my style (I still don't see which part of my style is like Gorillaz...seriously haha but I take it a
On Graduating-Hey guys, I know for a lot of you graduation is coming up super fast, and it seems completely absurd that it's been almost a year ago since I was in that boat. I well remember the two options presented to me:On Graduating-3 years ago in Personal More Like This
1) Get a studio job. Preferably close to home.
2) Move back in with my parents. Possibly get a day job or something.
I just wanted to remind ...whoever is reading this... that there are about a gazillion alternatives. In fact, any possible train of actions you can conceive of is an option. It's hard to think of options not presented to you as options, but you really can go anywhere and do anything. This is the only time in our lives when we don't have any greater obligations- we don't have a wife and kids to provide for, no company that would collapse without us, our bodies can handle sleeping on a springy old couch for a while. This is EXACTLY when you should take a gigantic risk because the only thing y

Is possible to travel?...and perhaps I thought it wasn't possible. Is possible to travel?3 years ago in Personal More Like This
On this journal I'd like to clarify a few things about travels and the truth with it.
So, let's start from very basic questions or comments from people which I get very often on dA: you are so lucky to be able to afford traveling!, I so wish I were as lucky as you being able to travel or How you can afford? You must have decent finances and the time!
Didn't you happen to think like that? If you did, so that is just a stereotype.
On almost every question or their comment where I explain what it is really and how it's working - it is a big opposite side of mirror what they think. After hearing they get usually shocked, but more in positive way.
Here we go.
Firstly, there is a big difference being a traveler and a tourist.
Secondy, there is a huge difference to travel via third party (travel agencies, school trips, going for trips with a friend, family, organizations, etc.) and lonely, self organized travels. And where you

Random MusingsYou know what character I've always wanted to draw correctly but never could? Jasmine from Aladdin. No matter how many times I've tried, studying the character, the animation, etc... I just can't do it right. I don't know what I'm doing wrong.Random Musings4 years ago in Personal More Like This
For that matter I wish I had a more disney-seque style of drawing. I think you can see some Mickey Mouse and Bone inspirations in my shorter cartoony characters like Spot or Talus... but when it comes to human beings I have a very hard time moving away from my Rumiko Takahashi roots. I really envy some of my fellow artists here on DA who have gorgeous linework and character designs, especially in the realm of the face. I've tried but, like Jasmine, I struggle.
When I get Super Mario 3D Land for my 3DS, you can probably expect to see a lot of fanart of characters running around with Tanookie tails. I friggin' LOVED the leaf powerup in Super Mario Bros 3 and it's been damn close to 20 years since it's been in a new Mario game.
I hate spoilers, but
Late Lesson LearnedWhile doing research for the new SYAC, I actually stumbled upon something truthful on TVtropes.org. Usually I take everything from that site with a grain of salt, but this one bit actually was surprisingly honest and truthful about webcomics:Late Lesson Learned3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Webcomics work on a very different set of standards than other fiction. Almost all webcomic authors are working pretty much entirely alone as they both draw and script their comics and most do not plan any further along than to the end of their current story sometimes not even that far.
Many of them try to adhere to a schedule they aren't really capable of meeting, resulting in them rushing to meet their deadline and making mistakes that should be avoidable. So many of the good 10% lack qualities standard in traditionally professional works. This can be because of the lack of editorial input as well as the lack of lead time. Not all webcomics suffer from this, though, and even the ones that do can still be interesting. Arguably, some str
About Lester (or: The WTF Les Advice Meme)Long time no entry! Awful, because theoretically, there are so many themes and topics that i prepared (for such a long time!) and that i want to talk about but as always - time is and always was quite the luxury.About Lester (or: The WTF Les Advice Meme)10 months ago in Personal More Like This
Aynway, i'm tired of seeing the last journal entry, so it was time for something new.
We all (or the internet generation at least) know those advice memes. And even if you had never heard of them, you will most likely recognise them if you see one.
Long story short: I had fun in making some with (or rather, about) Lester, one of my best known canon characters. The idea behind it? A (humoristic) character study actually, derp. D8
Because if you can make fun of your character like this, debunking all his quirks, deficits and flaws, you will see how believable and real he actually is - or not. For example, are you unsure if you have created a Mary Sue? Try this, that'll show.
(Btw: "Brother" and "Morris" are referring to the same person; i did those between some weeks,

If this is old news, forgive me I just found it and thought it was hilarious:
Level 5 Studios (the company most noted for the Professor Layton series) was having their 15th year anniversary this week. Along with discounted game prices, part of the celebration was to make a wallpaper featuring player voted favorite characters. Unfortunately for Level 5, the voting of these characters quickly came under attack by trolls who hijacked the results and submitted obscure minor characters instead. The final list included the airplane from Aero Porter in first place with 46,000 votes.
Rather than toss out the votes and start over, Level 5 just rolled with it and produced the wallpaper with the skewed results anyway. You can download the wallpaper here: http://www.level5.co.jp/15th/vote/
I think what I love most about this is that they actually went with the airplane. The inanimate object from the Aero Porter games gets TOP BILLING on the poster. That's hilari
Improving and The Magic NibFrom time to time I'll hear questions from other artists concerning artistic pathways.Improving and The Magic Nib2 years ago in Personal More Like This
It probably stems from seeing my work over the years. Early in my career I was given a tremendous opportunity to draw the first Prophet book for Image Comics. I had years of inking experience behind me but I had never drawn a full comic book prior to that experience. The first issue sold nearly a half million copies. My first foray into penciling/inking was quite a spectacle... Looking back, it's one of the most cringe-worthy books from the 90's. That was a little over 20 years ago. When I returned to the comic book field I was a different artist thankfully. Obviously 20 years is a long time for a growth curve.
Check out some of my Journals here on DA. I delve into getting into the business and what pushed me, etc. Mostly it's just focusing on weaknesses and addressing them. Fixing what's broke or doesn't perform as well as I feel it should. Whic
Illustration and Emotion according to Petar...In my never-ending crusade to prove to Deviantart users that 99% of them are illustrators and that it's a legitimate form of art, I thought I would share this cool article. My own commentary as it relates to deviantart: We can get a little short-sighted here. I've been thinking a lot about this recently because I've been looking at some of those "draw this again!" memes and, while it's really inspiring to see so much improvement in technique, there are very few entries which change anything about the drawing (the pose, the scenario, the background, the emotio
