April SkyApril Sky2 years ago in Emotional More Like This
The muscles in her arms tensed with every grip on the metal chains of the swing. With her legs outstretched she leaned backward feeling the wind flow through her pixie cut and billow out her bright red tunic. The sky was broken apart by branches of a leafy tree. Through the leaves she saw the sky's soft puffy pastel clouds start to darken against a purple blue canvas. The winter had been long and cold, but this April day was what she had been waiting for. All through the day the sun had danced upon her fair skin. Its golden traces had left their glowing mark and she smiled. Her mind found freedom in fond thoughts of an evening's lemonade; ear

Death AwakeningDeath Awakening5 years ago in Other More Like This
The light from my eyes is fading.
I've shed all the tears I could.
I don't see the point in staying.
I don't have a reason why I should.
I feel my heart breaking.
And my faith I'm letting go.
This fantasy I have been creating
is nothing more than a silly show.
I wait for the cold to overtake me,
where my time is done.
And the sounds and images I no longer see
And my fate then shall have begun.

A Trusted Friend
I Trust you
To hold my hand, while my world Crumbles
To show me life's humble Path
And to always catch me
When I Fall
I Trust you
To stand when I stay Seated
To smile though I Frown
And to always be brave
When I'm Scared
I Trust you
To stay apparent as I fade Away
To laugh through our Pain
And to always be strong
When I need Support
I Trust you
To wave away my Fears
To brighten my Surroundings
And to always be my friend
When I need someone to Trust

The last beat of a heart
My heart, her heart
The whole world has a heart
Thrumming to the rhythm of the end
Of time
Time is the essence
And their heart is mine
Bleed, bleed
You lovers, bleed
Designed to torment, hurt, and lie
It's the last hour
The last moment
The last beat
And I'm running out of time
The last dream of a night
Sweet night, black night
The whole world in the night
Ripping out the stars in a maddened dance
Of fear
Fear is the wonder
And I fear the night
Scream, scream
You devils, scream
Dance on my nightmare, strange and bright
It's the last hour
The last moment
The last dream

I AmI am the dreamer at the window,I Am1 year ago in Free Verse More Like This
and my face is in the daylight stars,
untraceable, unreachable, invisible,
but unquestionably there.
I am the last castle in the sandbox,
left with the shovel pointing outwards,
towards the third rock from the sunset.
I am the wake of the steamboat running,
churning up the river like
a landlocked hurricane.
If you try to be the force that breaks me now,
the swingset push after I said "stop,"
then watch yourself close when I jump off,
because even the devil will hear me
when I land with both feet.

Neglect, detritus.
Stranded objects make appeal
for reconnection.
But what whole could ever be
of which such remnants are part?

a brand new dayNow picture yourself,a brand new day2 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
Coming down a hill.
All around you,
Grass and trees.
Your legs guide you.
Your heart sings.
It's a day
Filled with promises
Meant to fulfill.
Meant to pursue.
Now picture yourself,
Sleeping in a flower.
Petals are soft.
The scent is so untrue.
Purple? Red or Blue?
You choose the one,
Which your heart sings to.
Put a dress on
Made of flowers near the creek.
Put on the pearls,
Adorn the dress
With all your dreams.
Tears of dew
Roll down the silky petals.
Your goblet of rose
Is filled and ready.
It's time for you
To take a sip.
Open your eyes
To the world and a new day.

Unhealthy Associations'Tis the way of American society and more ...Unhealthy Associations2 years ago in Philosophical More Like This
Most refuse to ever take the time and do what's necessary to love themselves, preferring instead to prematurely try to force their discordant existence upon another. Then, incoherently and angrily wonder while eagerly misplacing the blame as to why they're unable to achieve ongoing unity.
That's not to express that there aren't many who muddle through life in listless relationships lamenting depressed, discontent and unfulfilled. Nowadays they're quite literally everywhere. All you need do is closely look in any direction. Most often no further than your immediate relations.
Provided you've the

Love and TenureHave you ever truly known love?Love and Tenure2 years ago in Philosophical More Like This
If the focus of your attraction so desired,
would you yield ongoing, sincere friendship and caringly say goodbye,
or would you expose unfriendly and do your utmost to prevent it?
Love and tenure are vastly opposing things.
One's enduring and beautiful, the other both failing and ugly.
Know, there's infinite merit and worth which separates them.

and face another morning,
and make myself again
presentable
that the world might not suspect.
Drag
this broken carcass through
another day's debris,
clinging to the shattered remnants
of routine
that help maintain
the quivering illusion of normality.
Throw together enough
numbed conversation
and go through the minimum of motions
so there'll not be any
questions.
And, when the evening comes,
crawl back into the emptiness
that lurks behind the whole façade.

This faithful pulseThis beating heart pounds out its songThis faithful pulse2 years ago in Traditional Fixed Forms More Like This
It falters not, the rhythm's strong
And, though it's distant from your ear,
In quiet nights I know you'll hear
Its constant comfort from afar
That's there for you, though we're apart.
Unfaltering, with steady beat
That neither loss nor lies defeat,
It echoes on in hollow breast
Although its melody has left
And in the void that now remains
It carries on without a change,
For I am constant in my ways:
Unchanging till the end of days.
