Pneumonia and Pancakes Chapter 2They left him to sleep. However, not long after they left he started to get really fussy. His black hair stuck to his child like face. He started to cry. He held his chest tightly. His chest started to hurt more and more. He was having a lot of trouble breathing and no one was around. He was scared.
He pounded on his chest trying to cough or breathe or something. He was starting to feel dizzy and was starting to get more upset.
"Bean pole," he heard the voice of the Lorax, "Jeeze I leave you alone for a few minutes . . ."
The teenager just continued his futile struggle. "Help . . . please . . ." he wheezed.
"See if you cut down too many trees everybody's going to feel like this." The Lorax said patting the teen's back trying to calm him down.
The Once-ler tried to force a smile but failed as he continued to cry. He curled onto his side trying to keep his breathing under control. The Lorax took one of his hands. "Do you want something to drink?'
He got a small nod.
Pneumonia and Pancakes Chapter 3By the time tomorrow had rolled around the fever was definitely worse. The light freckling of his cheeks was hidden by the feverish flushing. The Thneed was actually really useful, to the Lorax's surprise. It was able to cool his forehead and his neck at the same time simply because of its length.Pneumonia and Pancakes Chapter 33 years ago in General Fiction More Like This
The Lorax gently lifted a glass with a straw up to his lips. He'd squeezed a little bit of juice from the Truffula Tree's berries and watered it down a little.
"Come on kid, ya gotta try and keep your strength up," the Lorax said to him nudging Once-ler's ckeek with his fingers.
He noticed the young human's eyes trying to open. He was able to drink a little before falling back again. His eyebrows knit themselves together.
"Here come on sit up again bean pole, come on," he said offering him the cool sweet water again. He was able to get a little more into the boy.
Once-ler gave a little groan. "Thanks Mustache," he attempted a small smile.
"I speak for the trees, for the creatures, for the wat
Pneumonia and Pancakes Chapter 1He woke up. His arms hurt and so did his head. Pip-Squeak was sitting on the end of his bed looking at him quizzically. The young man on the bed groaned a little. His body slumped back on the pillows. He didn't want to try and sell that Thneed again, at least, not today. He knew he had to try. It was try number four. He was ready to just give up.Pneumonia and Pancakes Chapter 13 years ago in General Fiction More Like This
He patted Pip-Squeak on the head and headed for town. He was used to the reception he got by now. He accepted the raw tomatoes and fled back to his forest home. He didn't feel very well. The animals had been living in his home for about a week and he wasn't pleased with it. He was distracted and he nearly fell out of the wagon when a stab of pain through his chest startled him. He started to cough a little and Mervin sped up a little.
The young man started to groan. His arm was about his chest. The cart came crashing through the forest. The animals all came to see what the matter was. Pip-Squeak ran up to the Once-ler and snuggled into him. Th

"I got it," he said sleepily taking the small thermometer in his own hand and slipping it under his tongue. He knew it was bad when the red stripe steadily rose. He didn't have much energy left to look at it so he just closed his eyes.
"'s stopped what do we do with it now?"
He lifted his heavy eye lids and took it out and looked at it. His eyebrows rose a little. Had he really allowed this to get this bad? He set it down on his nightstand and looked back at his friend who was staring at him with a 'well what did it say?' look.
"It wasn't that bad," he bluffed.
"You're a terrible liar you know that bean pole." He stated.
"I'm not lying," he said sleepily.
He knew he was lying and he swore that was all over his face from the bright red flushing across his cheeks and the bridge of his nose to the glassy look in his eyes. He w
Pneumonia and Pancakes Chapter 6The Lorax attempted to wake Once-ler awhile later, but nothing he tried worked. He then recalled this was the same guy who had his bed hit the door several times and didn't wake up. He tried shaking him a little but nothing worked.Pneumonia and Pancakes Chapter 63 years ago in General Fiction More Like This
"Wake up kid," he said.
He didn't get any response. He took a closer look at the boy and noticed beads of sweat falling down his face. His hair was plastered to his pale and flushed faced. His mouth was open just enough to allow air in.
The Lorax gently laid a paw against Once-ler's forehead. "Jeeze kid, ever do anything by the halves?" He asked. The boy's eyelashes flickered but he didn't wake.
"Come on kid, I need to try and get some water in ya," he said trying to wake the teenager up. "Come on kid," he said rubbing circles on Once-ler's hand. He grabbed the damp Thneed again and dabbed Once-ler's face.
He was lost in thoughts. He heard a loud thump from his first tree hitting the ground. He saw his younger self reaching out as hi
Pneumonia and Pancakes Chapter 4Someone's hand was rubbing his cheek and his hair. He looked at the individual in question his vision was hazy. The Humming Fish were humming to him softly. "I didn't mean to wake you bean pole try and get back to sleep."
Once-ler looked a little confused. He tried to make out some of the images but he couldn't lift his eyelids more than half way.
"Well since you're up here, kid," he placed a straw in the boy's mouth and once more nudged the boy's cheek.
He tasted a very mild sweetness in his mouth. He swallowed and the process was repeated.
"Alright bean pole, that's good enough for now," the Lorax said patting his hand before tucking him back in.
"Th-thanks a-again Mustache," he slurred a little.
"No problem kid. I speak for the trees, for nature, for animals, for all of these." He said sadly. He knew enough about humans to know that they couldn't last long if their body's got too hot

"Come on kid," the Lorax coaxed. Pipsqueak was crying. He pulled on Once-ler's fingers. "You gotta stay with me you have to sell your Thneed. Ya know the thing that cha claim everyone needs? Come on kid."
"No . . . c'n't do it 'ny more." He whimpered.
"You've gotta try kid, come on sit up bean pole." The Lorax looked at the boy. His face was flushed from his hairline down. He had dark circles around his eyes. He looked as though he was about to give up. His chest heaved for air a few times.
"Kid shhh . . . take some deep breaths." The Lorax coaxed. "Try and settle down."
"No more," he jerked away. "No, no please no more."
"Bean pole?" The Lorax asked taking the boy's hand. He put his hand against the kid's chest. The boy's heart was racing. Once-ler gave a few small cries of pain.
"'m coming 'Drey." He whispered. "I'm coming."

"Come on kid, you need to drink something," the Lorax pressed. "Come on. Try to keep this down okay kid?" He pressed again.
He got a faint groan in response. The fever had started to cause dehydration. He was so confused. His eyelids were really heavy. He was tired.
"Come on kid," he let Pipsqueak rub his cheek when he put the straw in his mouth. It was taking quite an effort to get the water into his body.
He groaned as he clutched his stomach.
"What's wrong kid? It's your stomach isn' it?"
He nodded. His eye brows knit together but there were no tears. He was inconsolable and fussy. He was shaking with chills and was simply beside himself.
"I need you to sit up kid; I need you to keep trying to drink this alright? I promise it's going to make you feel better."
He was really confused the world was spinning way to fast. He closed his eyes trying to will it to stop.
Pneumonia and Pancakes EpilogueHe was well enough within a few days to go back to town and try and sell his Thneed. He failed once and went back one last time before finally becoming angry enough that he threw it. He thought back on this time he spent with his animal friends.
"'Drey? How much longer before the 'wonderful surprise?'" He wondered out loud. "Because you have no idea what I wouldn't give for trees, another round with pneumonia and some pancakes," he said looking out on his wasteland.
She said. She promised! All he had to do was wait. So, he took wood and boarded up his window. "You said wait. So, here I am 'Drey I'm waiting."

Hope you all are doing well. I'm great. I am just going to write this because I love Once-ler and I got tired of waiting for more chapters of other Once-ler fanfics to come out. Hope you like X3 Chapter one:
I walk down the valley of the newly grown Truffula trees. I look at all the amazing colors of the fluff on the tops of them, the perfect stuff for Thneeds. Why did I ever cut down those trees? I see all of the amazing creatures that use the trees for lots of things. By cutting them down, I had taken everything from them. I felt terrible. I was so glad when Ted came along and brought them back.
As an old man in my 80's not many people recognized me at first. At least I was accepted by them now. I had worked hard to help grow the Truffula trees again.
I finally reached my home. I step inside and walk upstairs to my bedroom. I lay on my bed. I feel my time is almost up. I slowly st

Just like that, everything was gone.
His smog-spewing factory, his thneeds, his name, and the only real friends he'd ever had. All gone.
His money was meaningless; his company name was mud, and everything everything he'd worked so hard to achieve was nothing more than dust slipping through his gloved fingers now.
The Once-ler watched in stunned, and horrified silence as the Lorax lifted himself up, through a hole in the smog. A part of him remained incredulous, and he reached upward, vainly, in the smallest of attempts to call back the guardian of the forest. But the Lorax disappeared, and the sparkling, whispering glow that had taken him faded as well.
And now the Lorax was gone. Like everything else.
The silence was thickimpossibly so, with his Super-Axe-Hackers deactivated laid haphazardly across the rolling hills, the pumping of his factory gone, and the pipes that glumped the river were quieted. All was still.

This is the next chapter! Yey! What do you call the stuff on the trees? Cuz I just call it "fluff". XD. Not much has happened since I posted the last chapter, so without further adeiu, chapter 2! (lol)
I step out of the bathroom in huge sweats that barely fit me. Boy, was this guy tall or what? My hair was still damp from my shower. The Once-ler was curled up on one side of the bed. I got in on the other side, scooting to the edge, trying not to touch him. Sleep pulls me under almost immediately.
When I wake up, Once-ler is still asleep. I begin to get out of bed, but he grabs me and suddenly pulls me to him. I try to move but I'm kind of stuck. I give a yelp when he holds me tighter and his eyes fly open. He instantly lets me go and jumps up.
"I-I'm so sorry," Once-ler says. He looks down. I blush a little and get up. I look at him.
"Really?" I say. Once-ler looks up, confused. "Bu

Chapter One : Everybody Needs A Thneed
Nights in the Truffula Forest were always calm, it seemed. In all the time that Once-Ler had been out here, trying his best to sell his wares, he had never seen it so much as drizzle. But surely there had to be some form of precipitation out here, otherwise the colorful foliage would never be able to grow as tall and vibrantly as they did. Still, he had been here for nearly two weeks now, and a raindrop had yet to fall from the sky. Tonight was no exception. The sky was especially beautiful, velvety blue and dappled with bright stars. Once-Ler cast an occassional adm

I ran through the town, completely lost now, but I didn't care as long as I was far away from him. So many people...not sure where I was going I kept walking, looking for a way out.
Suddenly, I hear music. Music? Aroubd here? I blink and look around and see a man in a gray fedora, white shirt with a gray vest over it and striped pants, lightly strumming a guitar, sitting down, back against the wall. As i got closer i could vlwaely see tomato guts staining his shirt on his chest. I could see more tomato on his face and in his hair and more all around him on the ground.
He looked sad. On the right side of him was a pink..sweater..? I wasn't sure what it was. Moving towards him I called,"Hey! Are you okay?"He looked over as I stopped in front of him."Uh..."He blinked."Yeah..I'm fine.."He scrambled to his feet and I can now see how tall he is. I'm atleast a foot and a half shorter than him.

The teen was asleep for now. It had been fitful. His chest pain worsened and there was nothing the Lorax could do.
He'd actually tried calling his mother who said 'pain is a price of beauty.'
Laura was then called and she was now sitting at his bedside holding his hand.
"I won't lose you too honey," she whispered softly. "I can't lose you not so close to losing Audrey. I just . . . I can't."
"Elevate his head, it'll make it easier on him." Norma said running her fingers through
Once-ler's dark hair. She felt it snap even under her soft touch. She closed her eyes and prayed for a second that she imagined that happening.
"Can't you just heal him?" Laura asked.
"To do that I would have to make him immortal. I need permission to do that. I can't just do it."
"Then make him immortal. Make him immortal at nineteen forever," Laura begged.
"I cannot. There are other plans for him."
"What PLANS?" she asked.
"He will be immortal just not at this time. He needs to cope

Audrey listened to her mother tell her the story of the Once-ler when she was sixteen. Ted visted him many times telling him about the tree. She knew he showed him pictures.
Ted commuted back and forth for ten years. He was nearly thirty two now. He was married to Audrey with a little one on the way.
Ted loved that old man. They laughed and talked for hours. They made pancakes and ate marshmellows. To Ted, the Once-ler was like a father or a grandfather he never had. He started the commutes when he was a seventh grader when he was twelve and continued them even now when he was in his thirties.
He was the only person who the Once-ler would allow inside unless her mother went. Norma sometimes had accompanied him but the woman, now 89, wasn't up to the trip as often anymore.
The Once-ler was now 74. He was too weak now to get out of bed so Ted watered the trees in his front yard. The tree in the center of town was quite a bit older. It was twenty pro
