I have seen people talk about 'fave'ing and running,' which, to me, is an odd thing to be upset about. Someone has favorited your art, which is the equivalent of a comment saying 'hey, I like this!' ...which for you, as an artist, is completely guilt-free! You don't have to reply to that. You've gotten a complement, and it requires no further work on your part.
The alternate is that they DON'T favorite your art and DON'T comment (because they weren't going to comment anyway, right?), and you get nothing.
I comment on art that I especially love, or want to critique, or that I have questions about (like technique, subject matter, et cetera) Sometimes? I just like your art and want to add it to a list of art that I want to look at later. There's nothing wrong with that, and I might have nothing else to say on the art other than 'I like this,' which is covered by me fave'ing it.

Expose yourself to good writing/art. Expose yourself to an eclectic range of good art.
There is so much crap out there on TV, online and what's left of bookstores that it's easy to see only crap art and think it's good.

We may not agree on what we like, but certain works transcend personal tastes - Michelangelo's Pieta, Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, Lucas' Star Wars, Mozart's symphonies, and David Bowie's works. These pieces of work are generally accepted by the great majority as masterpieces in their field/genre. That doesn't mean they're perfect, but that they overwhelmingly impact the collecti

Early last Friday.. An absolutely horrible event.. One of the deadliest mass shootings in recent U.S. history happened.
In Aurora, Colorado, a suburb of Denver.. James Holmes, a budding scientist, brimming with potential.. allegedly opened fire and set off gas canisters in a theater minutes into a premiere showing of the Batman film "The Dark Knight Rises." The massacre left 12 people dead and 58 injured. A six year old girl, Veronica Moser, died in the shooting rampage.
Here on dA.. In this group.. We have a counter showing the flags of the countries of our visitors. Since April 14th this year this group has collected 140 flags on this counter. I want to say to everyone from each of these countries that I am indeed horrified by this event early Friday morning. I believe this is a more than ugly message for my country to send to the world.
