Knite Translators Please ReadWhen I first uploaded Knite, I said anyone can translate it if they want, but I will not be making the translated pages into a flash comic because it takes too much to time... Well, I just found out a way to replace the pages in the flash file with translated pages with just one click I wish I knew it sooner... XDKnite Translators Please Read5 years ago in Personal More Like This
There are 3 requirements for this to work:
1. The translated pages must be the same size 750x600 pixel (so you can't use the larger 900x720 blank pages that I've been posting on dA)
2. The pages must have the same file name.
3. The pages must also be in the same jpeg format.
Here's the download links to all the smaller blank pages and the character fonts (the fonts only work for Roman letters; feel free to use your fonts of choice for languages that don't use Roman Letters. )
I will upload the Omake later and Ch 2 and Ch3, but :iconBlomsterhumlan: has made a script fo

UPDATE 2: I made all the charms! Now I will take them for some sightseeing of Slovakia, and after Easter, I will be sending them to the 1st person in the list.
I tried to create an optimal route for them to get across the entire globe. Some people will have to send them farther than others, but I can't do much about that, unfortunately. The order in which you'll get them is as follows:
Here is a (very schematic) map. If I missed a few... hundreds... kilometers, sorry I mostly just marked the sta

1. Hello! For the beginning, could you tell us something about yourself?
Hello! My name is Šárka, pronnounced Sharkah. I’m a 20 years old student of biology at Charles university in Prague. I come from the south of Czech Republic (the country with beer) , from beautiful South Moravia (the region of wine). I have a tarantula called Ungoliant and I love everything related to J.R.R.Tolkien.
2. When did you read Tolkien's books for the first time, and what impression did they leave in you?

You want to get better at representational art.
Here on deviantart its often the case where a noobie will ask a question and another noobie will answer with the very uninspired answer of "practice practice practice." At its core this advice is sound, but the noobie-teacher has just regurgitated what he or she has heard a thousand times over from other would-be noobie-teachers and has not expressed much else. Diligence is the key, but without a direction or goal this diligence might be

“You don’t take a photograph. You ask, quietly, to borrow it"
I read an article this week that said something along the lines of how every moment is a fresh reality. Every now is a beginning. Every now is a chance to restart. With those thoughts came the declaration that we should learn to photograph in the moment rather than work ourselves up into a frenzy of trying to create moments for ourselves. Ultimately I feel that it's a bit of both. This past week I've spent some time doing professional shoots with babies and used them as my photographs of the day. I've then been surprised and a little dejected when the following day, an opportunity didn't just fall into my hands. Sometimes though, it's good to leave the tripod at home, forget the filters and the flashgun and just shoot with free hands, fingers crossed, hoping for the best. Unless, like me, you are prese

The Tales of Beatrix PotterThe Tales of Beatrix Potter3 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
Cold winter evenings or blustery Autumn days had the soundtrack of my Mother's voice reading Beatrix Potter books out loud when I was younger. In fact, the wonderful children's books were the epitome of my childhood. The illustrations were just perfect and the stories, whilst simple, were mysterious and adventurous in their own way. Beatrix Potter was born in 1866, South Kensington, London. She was said to live a lonely life, being educated at home by a governess and so perhaps that's why she delved into a fantasy world of rabbits, geese and other traditional animals.
Beatrix's illustrations come from her copious studies of her own pets, and the animals that roamed the gardens of the places in which she holidayed as a child. The fascinating fact was that Beatrix's illustrations became greetings cards before her books were created. I see her drawings on cards in shops now and I always thought that it had developed the other way around. Her first boo

1. Hello! For the beginning, could you tell us something about yourself?
Hi everybody! What to say... I am homebody that draws things for a hobby, and doesn't have nearly enough time to do so as much as she'd like. I am a student (though not for long) and like to let my mind wander with Tolkien (and others) when number crunching gets to be too much. I'm Catalan, female and study chemistry and engineering.

On Writing - DialogueAnother article for :iconthe-bards-college:On Writing - Dialogue2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Dialogue is one of the hardest parts of writing for new writers. You would think it should be one of the easiest since we talk all the time, but it is very easy to fall into a stilted, unrealistic, boring conversation when you first start.
1) Listen to real people talk
I found this tip time and time again when I was researching this tutorial. By listening to how people talk – absorbing their cadence, slang, phrasing, pauses and exclamations, we learn how we want our characters to speak.
As fanfic writers, we have an added bonus in that we can specifically listen to our character's ways of speech over and over by replaying their dialogue multiple times. I know when I started writing Cicero, I would obsessively look for clips of his dialogue to study the rise and fall of his voice as he talked and pick up phrases that he used.
Sometimes when I am stuck on how to write dialogue without sounding stilted, I will pick u

Zelda artbook - Hyrule HistoriaCould it really be true?Zelda artbook - Hyrule Historia3 years ago in Personal More Like This
For the 25th anniversary of "The Legend of Zelda" Nintendo finally releases a 274 pages thick encyclopaedia, filled with information all around Hyrule and never-before-seen concept art of the games, with the title "Hyrule Historia".
It also contains a short story about Skyward Sword, some pages about Akira Himekawa's manga work and there are rumours that it even has a complete timeline in it!
In Japan it will be released on 21 December this year, 3,255 Yen (which is about 41$/32€), but a release for other countries isn't confirmed yet. Let's hope that there will be at least an English version of it!
klick on the source to see some sample pages: - Nintendo Japan -
So it looks like it will definitely have a timeline in it, which will be, along with the history of Hyrule, described on 70 pages. 67 pages are devoted alone to Skyward Sword, 32 pages of the Sky

Passion for Art'Passion', I use to hear this word from lips of people that love what they do, from people that work hard, from people with ideals. They don't need to look weird or fantastic, wise or intelectual, they are just normal people. People that are in love with their work.Passion for Art3 years ago in Personal More Like This
'Passion', like when we drew for first time, when we were kids taking a notebook trying to fill these pages with our heroes, the things we wanted, we dreamed, our house, our family, our pets, etc.
'Passion' like first time somebody broke our heart and just a piece of paper and a pencil could console us. Like when our parents argued and we felt so frustrated having nothing to do just to define our rage in some doodles.
It's like something that comes from us without asking for permission, it just appears and burns, we don't search for it, it is something that we "suffer" but is according to our actions, our work, our effort. it is stimulated for the things that move us.
I hated art many times and I loved
