Mass Effect 4 is coming, Omega DLC is confirmedBefore we get into it, I'd like to preface this with the sad fact that both of Bioware's co-founders Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuck have retired from the company.Mass Effect 4 is coming, Omega DLC is confirmed1 year ago in Personal More Like This
On the marginally plus side, I won't have to be constantly double-checking my blogs to make sure I got their names right.
To read both of their personally written farewell letters, please go to here http://blog.bioware.com/2012/09/18/from-ray-muzyka/ for Ray's, and here http://blog.bioware.com/2012/09/18/from-greg-zeschuk/ for Greg's
For those of you who would like to pay their respects to the departing minds which have supporting Bioware through the years with their own thank yous and other supportive messages... do not go to the Bioware Social Network. Really, go anywhere but there. The Dragon Age forums are busy talking about Dragon Age 3 and discussing how terribly they are suffering, and the Mass Effect forums are busy talking about Mass Effect 4... and how terribly they are suffering.

Mass Effect 3 - Happy Ending Mod...Mass Effect 3 - Happy Ending Mod1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Yet again the Mass Effect Fandom proved that it will not leave the ending in the state it was presented in the game. A certain (fan!) mod was created (and is right now in the testing phase) a Happy Ending Mod for ME3. We can destroy the Reapers, Shepard lives (EDI and Geth too) and most importantly of all we don't have to worry about the Star Child.
Instruction how to install it and the mod itself can be found here:
You can also check how the mod works here on youtube:

First, we have the ME3 Gamestop pre-order incentive: The N7 Warfare Gear package, which includes the Argus Rifle, the Valkyrie Rifle and the N7 Defender Armor --which is like James Vega's armor with an N7 paint job, which I'd guess is nice for fans of James Vega.
Here's the feature video.
Now, there's some really interesting tidbits nestled in here.
At 0:20, you can see to Shepard's left, there's an asari soldier protected within a shield bubble, or more likely a biotic barrier, judging by the color. There doesn't seem to be an emitter, so perhaps it's a support ability like Halo's drop shield?
0:43 - 0:50 Ah, yes; turian husks. These guys carry actual weapons, whereas the human husks used melee attacks and the Cannibals use shoulder-mounted cannons and so on. Their role looks like it’s going to be that of the general infantry. Now, note their a

What Future Brings - the Beacon of Hope. This has been a wild, wild week for me. Never before have I juggled so many things at one time, between work, private life and the stuff I will write about in a second. First things first, let me get the single most anticipated question out of the way, so as not to keep you in further suspense - the next episode of "Marauder Shields" will be up on Wednesday, 16th of May, which basically means that I am skipping a single episode this week. Believe me, the decision didn't come easy, but it was either that or turning in a half-done, cut-up episode, which wouldn't do Zaeed any justice, nor would it present Emily Wong's legacy in the light it deserves. I only just discovered this. Am I behind or what? For folks who like Japanese manga/anime, there's also this hilarious Mass Effect High School comic Teach Me Mordin Sensei that you should check out! It's the story of ME 1 and 2 told in manga lesson format by Mordin!

I love it when fans can brainstorm together. :iconpolymorphicgirl: and I actually had a similar concept way back in November last year which we wrote out in EPIC detail. The origin of Mass Effect characters in high school was itself spun from another conversation poly-m had with loudchai .

Beyond the Extended Cut... I will reignite. And so the end creeped upon us. With the Extended Cut behind me I can finally say that I've seen the full extent of how BioWare wanted to end the Mass Effect trilogy... And I disliked it. Don't get me wrong, the Extended Cut is a vast improvement over the vanilla endings and I think that everyone should check it out - but it is still the same unfitting ending, it is still something taken out from another story and sewn onto Mass Effect's glistening skin, with it still kicking and screaming (yes, this is just a personal opinion and no, I am not bitter about that - I just dislike how it ended). The themes that made Mass Effect so great are still either nowhere to be found, or twisted around to present a vision I just cannot accept as something that belongs there. My fanface is itching, my writer sense tingling... Not the way I want to end one of the greatest sci-fi experiences of my nerdy little life.Beyond the Extended Cut... What do we have here? This is the largest expansion to the multiplayer to date.
Well, first and foremost, we have an entirely new enemy faction: the Collectors are returning to Mass Effect!
The old faces from ME2 will be coming back with the Praetorian, Scion, Abomination, Trooper and Collector Captain, and these familiar foes will fight alongside the new Dragoons and different Geth drones.
Two new allies will be made available, the Turian Ghost Infiltrator and Havoc Soldier. Jet packs, people.
Just when you thought getting thrown off the map as a Vanguard was fun.
Bioware says "many more" characters will be added on a "regular basis".
Collector Weapons will be made available as well, coming with the assault rifle, SMG, and sniper rifle all in your favorite crunchy buggy flavor!

While it's certainly been fun wreaking six kinds of havoc on the various multiplayer venues (Platinum difficulty, gah!) I'm sure a lot of you are looking forward to new single player content to tackle.
Announced during EA's summer showcase, Leviathan will tell the story of increasing desperation, a quest for vengeance, and will add entirely new avenues of play.
The setup for Leviathan is that humanity is looking for anything and everything to win the war and get Earth back. Admiral Hackett has been running black op missions with the goal of tracking down a mysterious and elusive creature that has been killing Reapers; the Leviathan Of Dis. Vanishing decades ago, no one has been able to come close to locating it again, until a scientist on the Citadel finds a trace that could lead them to the enigmatic dreadnaught, but then --as scientists are w

After losing her family at sixteen to a bloody Batarian pirate attack on an Alliance colony, the young fighter joined the Alliance military only to lose her entire squad in a deadly thresher maw attack. In the years since, these early scars have forged a new identity out of the shattered ruins of the child whose family died on Mindoir. Known for her “tough but fair” approach, Shepard’s fight against the geth incursion broke new grounds for humanity when she became the first human Spectre on the galactic Council’s elite forces. But recent rumors have put in question Shepard’s loyalty to the Alliance forces. After 5 years, after 3 games and after much speculation we finally have an official in game Turian female. It's shame that Bioware didn't decide to include Turian female models in the main game, because now it feels like a token girl and not much more. Also the fact that it will be featured in the paid Omega DLC makes it even more bittersweet, but hey it's still better than nothing. The DLC will appear on November 27th and will cost 1200 Bioware/Microsoft points. Tell us what you think about her:
For a little comparison I'll hotlink a picture of Lieutenant Abrudas, the very first Turian female shown in the Mass Effect Evolution comic:

Bioware Executives Address ME3 Ending Honestly, there are spoilers here. If you haven't finished ME3 yet, what in the heck are you still doing here?!Bioware Executives Address ME3 Ending2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Alright, I've finally landed enough time on other computer. My other computer completely died on me. I'm entirely out of date when it comes to Mass Effect news. Or anything on the internet for that matter.
Like it or not, Mass Effect 3 has shipped something on the lines of three and a half million units, which has in turn generated a historic fan response.
It's ranged from a bevy of online petitions such as ones for Joker romance, better Thane romance, blerbla blah character petition, and --the meat of the matter-- the "different ending" petitions.
Nevermind what your opinion of it might be, the "Take Back Mass Effect 3" movement has generated a sizable donation for the Child's Play charity --over $29,000-- which is great whatever way you slice it. This donation drive is meant make Bioware take the movement seriously.
And Bioware has responded.
Custom Shepards, be aware! For those of you who may have played the demo already and have recreated your Shepard's appearance, this news is moot. But for those of you still waiting either for Valentines Day, or for March, when the game comes out, this should interest you if you have a Shepard with a custom face.Custom Shepards, be aware!2 years ago in Personal More Like This
And I have a sneaky suspicion that one or two of you might.
Your characters will look different to varying degrees when you import them into ME3. For some, this change was for the worse, and for others it was either for the better or just fine. They were kind enough to post some pictures for an example.
Bioware: "Don't call it Mass Effect 4"In a move meant either to start out early distinguishing between the Shepard Trilogy and whatever BW have planned next, or just because they didn't like how simple it was to refer to it as "ME4", Chris Priestly, long runing Bioware Community Manager, said in a forum statement:Bioware: "Don't call it Mass Effect 4"1 year ago in Personal More Like This
"To call the next game Mass Effect 4 or ME4 is doing it a disservice and seems to cause a lot of confusion here. We have already said that the Commander Shepard trilogy is over and that the next game will not feature him/her. That is the only detail you have on the game.
"I see people saying 'well, they'll have to pick a canon ending'. No, because the game does not have to come after. Or before. Or off to the side. Or with characters you know. Or yaddayaddayadda. Wherever, whenever, whoever, etc will all be revealed years down the road when we actually start talking about it.
"I do not call the game ME4 when I talk about it ever, because [sic] that makes people think of it more as 'what happens after Mass Effect

Oh, and about the Citadel DLC, I have not played it. I have run out of room on my Xbox's hard drive, so I'll finding whatever I have on there I don't need right now and will be getting rid of that for a while to make some room.

While some of you may still be working on Omega --I'm downloading it today, in fact-- Bioware is rolling ahead with its next DLC. According to forum posts it's "all hands on deck" for this one, writing wise, involving "pretty much every ME writer at Edmonton."
There's a good chance that this might be the last DLC of the Shepard trilogy, and it's been said that there is a "high potential" for tears.
Although beyond these statements, there've been no real things said about this unannounced add on. Likely due to how it's not been announced yet. (I know, who'da thunk.) Although Sam Hulick is coming in again for the music.
