1. Gallery Clean-up Project
The Gallery Clean-up Project will focus on literally cleaning up the category tree in several ways. This first part of this project, is all behind the scenes. Over the years there have been categories that have been "removed", merged, or changed and there are back-end changes that need to be done to fully remove them from the tree. This part will not affect you, and if everything goes properly, you won't even notice it
The second part of this will be ensuring that the categories are all accepting the correct file-types. If there is a file-type that isn't being allowed in a particular category or

"The quickest way to make money from Photography is to sell your camera"
Noticeably in the past few weeks, more and more people seem to be speaking up and making noise at the fact that aren't making money from their photography. There's no doubt about it - Photography starts out as a hobby. You don't one day pick up a camera and decide that you are going to be a pro and get given your first paycheck. It's one of those unique hobbies where you get a gentle introduction around age 10 with your first proper camera (haha) and the rest is History. Whatever you make it really. You can't say that about most professions.
Putting yourself out there is something I've been trying to hammer home the past week, you'll have noticed my ramble if you read last weeks edition of Photography weekly. Getting paid for it is another matter. Sometimes you have to make sacrifices. Sometimes, you might not get paid for what you do.
deviantPOINTS: An updateOver the past few months we’ve been keeping a watchful eye on the way that members in our community have been offering points as payment for certain types of services within deviantART. We’ve seen all sorts of creative uses, from offering to critique your work for a few points, journal features for a few more points and my personal fav -- avatars, journal skins and any other sort of art commission for points. It’s been great to see deviants use their experience and skills to fund their super group upgrades, prints purchases and even treating their friends and families to their very first item of deviantWEAR.deviantPOINTS: An update4 years ago in Personal More Like This
As time rolled on, we noticed a new trend creeping in. People were not just offering a small number of points for a task that they’d normally do as part of their daily deviating -- people were offering thousands of page views for hundreds of points, and there seemed to be no limit to the amount that could be purchased, or offered. It didn

"We shape our buildings; thereafter they shape us." - Winston Churchill
The general theme this week is focusing on Architecture and in particular how to drum a bit more enthusiasm for noticing what's around us and capturing it successfully on camera. Architecture is profoundly unavoidable whether we like it or not! It's there in everyday life through work, socialising, living, politics and everything in between. The Architecture Gallery here on deviantART is vast and contains a great range of inspiring artworks.

of how we feel about words comes from body language.
comes from the voice.
comes from the actual words.
Whether or not you're willing to take Dr Mehrabian's research at face value, it's undeniable that a lot of what we feel comes from what we see. A friend can say something that would be totally mean, but if they're giggling halfway through the words it's not hard to tell it's a joke. If someone's telling you they had a great day and their voice is quavering the whole time, you can be suspicious.
Languages aren't universal, but most facial expressions translate well across completely unrelated cultures. Is it surprising that we're better able to recognize facial expressions and vocal tones rather than focusing entirely on the words?
So how does th
Composition - Learning and Breaking the Rulez! A Camera can only shoot what you put in front of it!!!Composition - Learning and Breaking the Rulez!4 years ago in Art Features More Like This
We all know that there are limitations on a camera compared to the fantastic power of the human brain and eye as image processors. Being out in the 'field' so to speak, with the camera, our senses are alive and we literally capture all aspects of the things that surround us in our memories.
However it takes effort and preparation to fully capture those senses in a photograph for other people to enjoy. Or just to mark an occasion simply for your own memories.
What You Need
A Camera first and foremost is the most important aspect of this process as well as the ability to see a prospective picture in your surroundings. Whether it's an SLR or not doesn't matter, however the next important thing is a Tripod. Tripods not only allow for definition and finery in a shot but they also make you stop, slow down, and take time to set up for an awesome photograph. If you've got a di

Art History- Welcome to Literature!Art History- Welcome to Literature!3 years ago in Literature Features More Like This
This Month, the ArtHistoryProject has collaborated with CRLiterature to bring you a whole month of Literature history! We have got a very exciting month ahead, varying through an array for specialist subjects from six word stories, to chidlren’s literature and from tricksters to fantasy literature. Hopefully there will be lots of informative articles that interest you as a reader!
From early hieroglyphics to 50 Shades of Grey, literature has had a wonderful and varied journey, one which spreads over many genres, styles and cultures. This month we will be looking at just some of these through a series of articles written by members of the literature community. These articles are snippets of the great history this proud art form has to boast.
We are inviting everyone, not just “writers” to come and get involved with this month! Maybe you will uncover a subject you knew nothing about but found deeply interesting, or feel

Anne is an inspiring member of our community that makes a difference here every day. Her modesty and dedication towards the community are a source of inspiration for all the people on dA. She was kind enough to find the time to answer the questions for this interview. Enjoy!
1) Tell us a few words about yourself.
I am Anne from Hamburg in Germany and currently Community Volunteer for Text & Typography on dA. That means I set DDs from Traditional Art > Typography and Digital Art > Typography.
When I am not on dA I work as a webdesigner.
As you can guess, I love Typography. But I also love chocolate and spring and gather any random information I can get.
2) How did you found out about dA and why did you join the community?
I found dA because I was looking to Photoshop Brushes I hear that is quite a common thing to happen I used
Project Educate: Stock and Resources, Final WordThank You.Project Educate: Stock and Resources, Final Word4 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Thanks for being part of an amazing week everyone! We appreciate all the support and love we’ve received from our articles.
Our mission was to ‘re-educate’ on some issues and to serve a reminder to folks about guidelines that need to be followed! Hopefully you guys now have a clearer understanding of the issues mentioned.
Let’s hope so anyway!
We also hope you enjoyed our interviews with some amazing artists and stockers! we had fun doing those!
We wrote a few special articles because Project Educate allows us to get even closer with you guys and reach a wider audience. The Potential Article was to show you guys what’s so great about stock! and to help open your mind and raise awareness of what stock is really about and why stock is essential to so many artists. We also highlighted other essential topics like, atmosphere and lighting, adequately crediting your resources, keywords, categories, and miscats.
