CosPod~ The Cosplay PodcastCosPod~ The Cosplay Podcast
CosPod is the podcast about all things cosplay. We cover everything from fantasy to sci-fi, from steampunk to mascots, from anime to SCA, and everything in between. Our podcast discusses the materials, techniques, people and places of cosplay. We interview cosplayers, host a gallery of costumes and techniques, and roundtable discussions of the meaning behind becoming your favorite characters; just to name a few aspects of the show.
We run the podcast for 30 minutes, bi-weekly through:
Podcast Alley: http://www.cospod.org/feed.xml
and our website. http://cospod.org/
We also take suggestions for future episodes and techniques from our viewers, and accept videos of convention reports! Most recently we made a bias tape segment after a request from a fan. We’re always on the look-out for new ideas, concepts, and topics and love when our viewers get involved. Please vi
COSPLAY SCAMMERS ON THE LOOSE! BEWARE LADIES!It has come to my attention that there are some weirdos on the loose (and I don't mean the good kind).COSPLAY SCAMMERS ON THE LOOSE! BEWARE LADIES!2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I'll quote what I read from Not Bad Cosplay (http://notbadcosplay.tumblr.com/post/38288553380/not-desu-enough-the-fake-cosplay-com-interviews) on Tumblr:
"For those of you who don’t know, a group has been going around scamming female cosplayers by pretending to be cosplay.com, asking to do interviews over skype. In the interviews at the end cosplayers were given a quiz on their character where if the females answered questions wrong they had to remove 1 article of clothing."
Now, I could write paragraphs of how enraged and disgusted this makes me, but I think she words it best.
(PLEASE, ESPECIALLY if you are a girl, take the time to read the rest of the article from Tumblr http://notbadcosplay.tumblr.com/post/38288553380/not-desu-enough-the-fake-cosplay-com-interviews)
I was approached by one of these people about an interview yesterday, not knowing about this scam.

Since I haven't had much chance to sew or cosplay this semester and since it's already November (wow!) my cosplay year of 2012 is coming to a close. Here's a quick summary of the cosplays I've completed this year:
America (Axis Powers Hetalia) - debuted Taiyou Con 2012
Tsunashi Takuto, Ginga Bishounen (Star Driver: Kagayaki no Takuto) - debuted Phoenix Comicon 2012
Oliver (VOCALOID 3) - debuted Phoenix Comicon 2012
Ciel Phantomhive, Ciel In Wonderland (Kuroshitsuji OVA) - debuted Anime Expo 2012
Len Kagamine, Servant of Evil (VOCALOID 2) - debuted Anime Expo 2012
Allen Walker, Crown Clown (D. Gray-Man) - debuted Anime Expo 2012
(secret cosplay for 2012)
That's a total of six costumes! What a busy year for me! But I'm kind of proud of myself that I was able to accomplish all
Avengers!Loki Cosplay FAQI've been getting sooooo many notes/messages as of late about this cosplay I have made. Usually all regarding the same questions.Avengers!Loki Cosplay FAQ2 years ago in Personal More Like This
So instead of answering a ton of times, I will answer it right here, and on a Tumblr post - http://kidofmischief.tumblr.com/post/29383989901/avengers-loki-cosplay-faq]]
If I get any more repetitive questions I'll add them onto both lists.
Prepare for a long post.

I. How'd you make it?
II. How'd you make the pattern?
III. What type of leather did you use?
IV. How much did it cost?
V. Can I make it cheaper?
VI. How long did it take to make it?
VII. Do you commission your Loki cosplay?
-------I. How'd you make it?
This question always confuses me the most with any cosplay...Mainly because usually SO much work g

Devious Journal EntryI just suffered shock at advice I saw being given to a convention goer of how to keep her energy levels up while at a convention...Devious Journal Entry2 years ago in Personal More Like This
- Hold soda in your mouth for a few seconds before swallowing it, as your mouth absorbs the sugars quicker
- Drink OJ with sugar added to it
- Honey sticks
Basically, the advice given was "SUGAR, AND LOTS OF IT!"
I don't know what people are taught about health in the USA, but clearly it's VERY different to the UK. People, PLEASE don't live on sugar at a convention! Not only is it bad for your teeth, but bad for your health, and it's NOT the best source of energy there is!
Eating regularly and healthily, especially wholemeals, will provide you with a much healthier and long-lasting source of energy. Sure, you may get a brief rush from a Red Bull, but you'll have a crash as well. I know none of us take the best care of ourselves at cons, but at least TRY to get in a decent breakfast, lunch and dinner. And drink plenty of water!!
And definitely don't ad

I got super sick after Boston Comic Con and then it was a mad dash to finish costumes for Dragoncon... now I have a few days to recover before I head off to Germany for Connichi and to visit my parents.
Here are some things of note that you should check out:
If you have been watching Heroes of Cosplay, read this review about the series: Comics Alliance watched the show carefully and thoughtfully and care a lot about the Cosplay community. See what they had to say: http://comicsalliance.com/heroes-cosplay-syfy-review-commentary-video-criticism/
I wrote a general post about cosplay that will hopefully help some peeps who have been struggling with things:
I also made a funny video with my friend Jessica about cosplay:
Trying to go ProfessionalWhat would it mean if I could actually take on YouTube as a profession?Trying to go Professional2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Mainly it would result in 100% more videos for you guys, as well as being able to branch out and really dedicate time in production and editing.
This is something I've been talking about with Kelly for a while now, and I have recently (after some serious talk) gained my mothers support in the venture.
However, I can't do it for free. This is where you guys come in.
1) In the last few months of 2012, I plan to push for new designs in the Parlé store. So if you'd like to support us; then please buy a t-shirt or two when they are ready to go!
US STORE: http://parleproductionsusa.spreadshirt.com
UK STORE: http://parleproductions.spreadshirt.co.uk
2) Tell your friends about our shows, make your own videos talking about the shows. Do journals and tumblr blogs; anything to get the Parlé name out there and appealing to more people. The more people we get; the more likely this will happen.
3) Although we're not ke
Secrets On How ToAlright I guess I'm gonna make another rant, and this one's been bugging me for the longest time. And I'm going to be as BLUNT as I will be and not sugar coat anything I'm about to say.Secrets On How To2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Often do I hear things like:
"what custom brushes do you use"
"how do you achieve this blur/ focus effect"
"how did you get the colors to go this way and that"
"what technique or computer program did you use"
What I rarely get asked for is:
"What did you study to be more efficient at drawing."
"What is an efficient way to study how to render certain types of materials"
"How do you practice proper lighting when painting?"
Guys I'm just gonna say it now, there's no shortcut to art. I work primarily in digital mediums now but I do have a solid foundation in traditional mediums. I didn't simply go out and buy a $400 tablet and instantly got to where I am today. I use custom brushes and special effects in my pieces, but they only take up less than 3% of the overall work. There's sti
