Though we rushed to the beach, or the marina, or the pier nearly every night for sunset, the color never really exploded. However, the view of the Puget Sound, the Olympic Mountains, and the subtle hues in the sky were the always a great way to relax and mellow after sometimes long days of driving, hiking, and shooting.
At the very least, it was a good lesson in patience, and a reminder to enjoy the beauty that was there, rather than wishing for what wasn't.

The clouds were amazing the other night. I rushed home and had about a half hour before sunset. There's a regional park near my house called Coyote Hills, so I hit it up and took this shot. Felt like doing some black and white HDR for drama.
Taken 4-20-12 of the Kalalau Valley in beautiful Kauai at sunset. This light show only lasted a couple of minutes as the sun dipped right below the clouds and lit up the whole valley just before disappearing on the horizon.
Capturing this photograph just down from the crest of the tallest sand dune in North America, Medano Pass looks like the perfect wind tunnel for the South-westerlies to flow through. While the wind escapes to the Northeast, the sand does not and falls to form these massive structures. A beautiful coverage of clouds creates wonderful shadows that move across the landscape without a sound.
