The second entry for *typhlosionskingdom's contest. this is just after Scootaloo/Harmony blows up the diamond dog's airship in a rather unique way Again I urge you to read the fic (End of Ponies) It's really really good! I was hoping to have more time on these but my carpal tunnel is acting up ;__; I might go back and tweak a bit of this before the contest ends.
Harmony from The End of Ponies takes a break while stargazing atop the Pie Family residence. "She saw the bright shinies!"
Harmony is a character in The End of Ponies by short skirts and explosions. [link]
Big thanks to short skirts and explosions for writing such an inspiring fic. This won't be the last piece I make for it I hope. Also thanks to viwrastupr and Living_Dead on the r/MLPDrawingschool subreddit. They both gave me tons of tips and helped me learn how to make this, seeing as it's my first attempt at a background and my fourth attempt at shading a pony (Two of the others being this same image but without help). One of the biggest things I learned in making this piece is that I suck at backgrounds.
Also, this functions as days 7 and 8 of my project. I might draw something else for day 8 too, but I might not.
The dead world is outside and everything worth remembering is here. If this isn't harmony, it might as well be.
This is a remake of a previous piece:
Which is fan art for the amazing fanfic The End of Ponies by ~shortskirtsxplosions. He today uploaded a re-edit of the entire fic to date to prepare for the next big installment. I figured that was a perfect chance to show off how much I've improved too. Just so you know, this character is not an OC. I won't spoil who it is though.
On the art side of things, I'm mostly satisfied with this one. I like the composition okay and the pose is good. The colors are alright, but the contrast is a bit whacked. Overall, it's an improvement over the original in most ways, but still not as good as I'd like it to be.
16:9 Wallpaper Crop:[link] Sketch:[link] I might update this later on if I decide I want to adjust some things. But I wanted to have it posted ASAP. Updated. Might update more-er later.
I randomly decided that i wanted to try to redo the lighting in this piece.
So yeah, this came out.
Don't ask me why. The piece itself is just okay, it's definitely better, but still just okay. The main thing about this is that I've discovered my new favorite shading/lighting method, hopefully I'll be able to replicate it from now on.
A horrible Cataclysm has turned all of Equestria into a Wasteland of barren ash and twilight desolation. The Sun and the Moon have been destroyed. Everypony has died--including Princesses Luna and Celestia. But one pony miraculously survives; she is a lone wanderer, the last of her kind, surrounded by menacing creatures that hate her. She navigates the Wastes in an airship and scavenges off the blighted landscape to keep herself alive.
Then one day she meets an old companion who grants her a gift, the chance to go back in time to the warm and sunny days of Ponyville, where her dead friends live in happiness. How far will the last pony venture into these joyous days of Equestria, even if she fully knows that there is no way to change the horrible fate of everypony she loves?
This was made for Short Skirts and Explosions' MLP fanfic End of Ponies, one of VERY VERY few things on this planet that has me reaching for a box of tissues when I read it. Painted this up as a replacement for his header image, and because everypony is too damn scared to make fanart.
I don't usually do just haphazard painty things. I've actually got a much more typical picture of this same scene, from a completely different angle underway, but realized it was much more about the scene, the emptiness, and the isolation, that it was how she looked when she realized what she was looking at.
And this ISNT spoilers actually. It's pretty understood from the second or third page of the fucking BEHEMOTH of a story that is End of Ponies, that literally everyone died. This is just from a flashback later on, filling in the oh so juicy spaces between that was then and this is now.
have a painting of a broken 9 yearold scoots clinging to the half burnt husk that used to be her idol, under the fallen ruins of cloudsdale.
Go read End of Ponies. It's huge. It's amazing. Best thing i've ever read.
