Realm-of-Fantasy is proud to present our So You think you can Design an Logo? Contest.
With all the excitement about logos in deviantART lately,
we figured what better time than now to have the community design one.
So you think you can design a Logo? You think you've got what it takes?
Ok, well here's your chance to prove it.
RoF is growing larger everyday, and we have become the Largest Fantasy and Sci-fi Art Gallery on deviantART.
We feel it is time to re-brand to properly reflect the size, depth and genre of our group.
We thought what better way to celebrate this than to ask you to be apart of this, and have the redesign as a contest theme.
Your Fantasy artwork has inspired so many people through the years, and we would be honored if it was your artwork that defined us.
Community Feature Project: If I Could DDHave you ever wished that you could pick a Daily Deviation Feature? I'm sure we've all seen an amazing piece of art or stock that we wished could have a bit more exposure. Well, this is your chance! This December we are encouraging you to feature your fellow deviants with a journal of images that you would feature as a Daily Deviation if you could. So let's embrace the Holiday Season and spread some good cheer by joining in and featuring our community!Community Feature Project: If I Could DD3 months ago in Personal More Like This
Think: "What Daily Deviations would I choose if I were to become a CV today?"
The Game Plan
Create and publish a journal feature of images that you would choose for a Daily Deviation Feature from your preferred gallery.
(i.e. Stock providers would feature images from the Stock & Resources gallery. Photo Manipulators would feature manips, etc.) Choose one gallery you would most want to be CV of!
When your journal feature is live, link it back to your Community Volunteer's Community Featu

Wallpaper Planet has seen some amazing wallpapers enter it's gallery this year and as I was absent for half of it I asked people "Who do you love?"
Our esteemed leader Giz chose DeeJayCRO and Futurology
Lil Onestopshopper chose giz183 and Senzune
And myself?...I can't possibly choose a favorite, there are far FAR too many magnificent wallpapers and artists to choose from SO I went back through every addition to the gallery this year and chose wallpapers that jumped out and screamed hysterically at me
Wallpaper-Planet would like to thank everyone for a wonderful year of screenie-customizationish-goodness! We hope you have a great new year full of alcohol, food and digital fun.

Choose any media or medium and there is no question that Drones have become the white hot center of debate for a multitude of deeply consequential concerns for the entire Earth Sphere. No matter the digital end point or theatre of conversation, whether it be politics, war, privacy, pop culture, or the rise of machines – Drones or UAV's (unmanned aerial vehicles) are the current catalyst du jour in any number of flashpoint discussions. Creating Lava Using Everyday ObjectsFlaming Seashells SeriesCreating Lava Using Everyday Objects5 months ago in Art Features More Like This
Any object can be seen as something else given the right perspective. In this instance a simple seashell held up to a light gives the illusion of lava.
I produced these photographs over an evening after seeing how a seashell's surface easily changed and reflected different colours in bright light. After holding it up to a spot light I realised just how easy it could be to make it appear as lave due to the semi translucent shell and the worn textures and patterns over it's surface.
I like to capture visual misperceptions of everyday objects appearing as something completely different. The image render, shape

The chaptered comic strip, has been collected into a 100-page graphic novel – and to the still-uninitiated:
It is not quite like anything you’ve probably ever seen before. The story follows “Zee Captain” and his sidekicks as they amble through a post-apocalyptic landscape. And while that hardly seems new and different, it’s the unusually superlative graphic quality of the comic cells and the Monty Pythonesque dialogues and leaps of logic that can become quite mesmerizing. Zee Captain, his face hidden by a gas mask that gives him a Darth Vaderish look, wears what looks like a Soviet Red Army uniform from WWII, and the strip does have nourish WWII feel. It’s as if the nuclear holocaust on Hiroshima and Nagasaki had never ended and spread to every major city on Earth. But

My Two cents on Portfolio ReviewsYou know, I see quite a bit of portfolio on a regular basis, and even more so when I go to comic con and CTN.My Two cents on Portfolio Reviews2 years ago in Personal More Like This
This time around was the same thing, I saw quite a few portfolios. Some good ones and some that miss the mark.
There were a few in particular that caught my eye.. a few extremely good ones, and a few that just didn't work, and I wanted to try and share my opinions about portfolios in general.
This is just my point of view, based on MY experience and definitely not a definitely law, rule, or "must do". Just what I noticed in many student's and young professional's portfolios.
The first thing that strikes me is how similar portfolios can be from one student to another..I can almost always tell when one student is from Art Center, San Jose State, Otis, Sheridan or any other major school. It's a good thing and a bad thing. Mainly a bad thing though
Just a few personal thoughts on portfolios since I just came back from comic con and saw a ton over there.
Your portfolio should be a r
How to feel good about your ArtWe've all had those moments as an artist where we just can't seem to like what we're doing, where nothing seems sufficient and everybody else seems to draw so much better than ourselves. There's a few simple things you can do to avoid feeling like that or that you can remind yourself of should you already be right in the middle of this mess. How to feel good about your Art3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Draw for yourself, not an audience!
The first and probably most important point, especially for any artist on here who in one way or the other seeks feedback and recognition from their fellow deviants. You should never forget that your art is after all YOUR art, so it should be a means to express yourself, relax yourself, be proud of yourself etc and not anyone else. Never let yourself be pressured to do anything you don't want simply because your watchers might demand it or do anything for the sole purpose of getting more attention. It might make you happy in the beginning but loosing track

orld War I (1914-1918) was a human catastrophe
that devastated Western civilization and mocked the hope inherent in “modernism”. The sheer volume of the war’s slaughter was beyond belief. The horror of it all destroyed the trust in science, medicine and technology as the golden gateway to a harmonious and peaceful future for humanity. All that was thought to be good had been twisted to the evil purpose of a global war. A global sense of hopefulness was replaced with a global sense of fear and loathing.

Dokle?Da ne duzim...Dokle?3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Cim nadjem malo vremena.

1. They are very weird people.
2. There are billions of them in the world, like colors on the screen of your computer.
3. They will analyse conversations in layers.
4. You will spend the day assembling furniture from IKEA.
5. They drink and eat all kinds of weird shit just because they like the packaging.
6. They hate each other.
7. You'll come out the last out of the movies because you have to see the full list of credits.
8. They cant change a light bulb or without making a sketch.
9. They fuck up all the tables with their cutters.
10. They rather study the paisley pattern on your outfit than listen to what you have to say.
Photography vs. paintingThe late 18th and early 19th century was a time of rapid social change, maybe more so than ever before in a timespan of a mere hundred or so years. Coming on the heels of the First Industrial Revolution followed the Second Industrial Revolution, which gave us the assembly line, the rise and fall of many markets, high unemployment rates, and the birth of the middle class. Advances in medicine lead to a higher life expectancy and lower child mortality rates, and Sigmund Freud shone a bright spotlight on the human mind, essentially marking the beginning of psychology as a serious science. Technology was rapidly changing and evolving, and with it so did social values.Photography vs. painting2 years ago in Personal More Like This
It is this time period that sees the birth of abstract art. It started off with the paintings of Manet, whose technique involved painting in patches of color, rather than the layered technique that was common and accepted for the time. Monet (similar name, different guy) focused on the color and the way light plays with the s

Alien Isolation Q&A with bradwright
Brad Wright, longtime deviant in the dA community, steps into the shoes (space boots) of Giger and Moebius as a concept designer for the Alien Isolation videogame. The game reportedly marks a return to the terror of the original “Alien” film in which scaring the audience to death was the goal, rather than the uncorking escalating levels of defensive firepower that defined the sequels.
