Posing! Tips ~I did these instructions 2 years ago, but I still think they're kind of good I hope you like!Posing! Tips ~10 months ago in Personal More Like This
Posing is crucial for getting an awesome cosplay photo! You should be aware of the basics before you go on a photoshoot. At a convention people are going to want to take pictures of and with you, practice your posing and you'll like the pictures that pop up on facebook afterwards!
Note where there is a source of light, and capture it with your face.
Don’t just stand there! Twist your body a bit and it will come to live in pictures! If you just stand there your hips will look wider than if you twist your body! :3
Beware of your limbs when posing. An arm that’s just hanging there can easily look like a deadweight.
On the subject of arms it’s important to notice how awkward the “hands behind your back”-pose can look. It’s always difficult to know what to do with your arms and hands. If you have a prop it will come more natural (or if your character has a sig
Before Cosplay Makeup: Basic Skincare! Before I write about cosplay makeup, I figured I should discuss some skincare basics. I feel it's important to know how to take care of your skin before you start putting gunk on it! This is really very basic so I think those of you with your own regimens already might be bored by it! But here it goes! Before Cosplay Makeup: Basic Skincare!2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I'm not an awesome guru wizard thing, but I'll just share some general concepts and products that work for me. It's different for everybody, but I hope this will be helpful! For your sreference, my skin type is combination: normal to dry with an oily nose. Hahah! Not my T-zone, just my nose!
Recently, my male friends had gotten very interested in makeup for cosplay and asked me for tips on how to go about it. (I think this was fueled by Kaname's visit to our country for Cosplay Mania '12, and they saw how beautiful he looks. ) I decided to ask them about their skincare regimen to figure out what products might work for their skin type.
When I asked what they wash their face w
Why many artists suck at marketingWell. I can at least say that the average artist's mentality towards marketing never ceases to amaze me.Why many artists suck at marketing1 year ago in Deviant Events More Like This
Either the guys here are young and naive --that's what I hope it is, since still being pure hearted in a time like this is good-- or they are willingly unaware of what's happening around them.
It all started with a question that came to my mind.
Would people be willing to pay a few point in exchange for a feature on a busy page?
How I got to the idea?
Well, I'm doing contests and giveaways now and then. Things for the community, you'd say. To get some feedback, feature stuff, promoting unknown artists, and that kind of stuff. In order to host those contests and giveaways I often need DeviantArt points. Now, I do get a lot of them by sheer donation. But that always seemed a bit empty to me. So I thought up some kind of idea. To give beginning artists the chance to get featured, and make use of the traffic on my page, in order to get their work viewed by people all over the website. S

*EDIT 19-01-2014* Sold out, thank you very much
I saw luleiya advertising her now sold-out Bleach doujinshi and remembered I still have 5 copies left of my Kuroko no Basket book and another 5 copies left of my Karneval book.
I made a special offer for these last units: you automatically get the extras for free. That's a bookmark + a letter sheet for the Kuroko book and a bookmark + a magnet for the Karneval book.
The Rurouni Kenshin Movie ExperienceSome months ago, a rumor surfaced that they would be showing the Rurouni Kenshin live action movie at our theaters here in the Philippines. After some weeks of torture, we were finally given an official confirmation and screening date! The day they started selling tickets online, I got a bunch for me and my friends, even though it was a couple of months too early, hahah! The Rurouni Kenshin Movie Experience2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Nearing the screening date, I received a wonderful surprise from :iconup-ame: UP-AME.org.
They invited me to be a guest and cosplay competition judge for Swordplay, a Rurouni Kenshin fan event, and also to the special advanced screening days before the official screening date. I've often thought that if there is one cosplay I would like people to remember me by, it would be Kenshin. I was very honored and touched that they had thought of including me to a day celebrating a series that means so much to me, and a movie I had been looking forward to for ages.

Somehow, this silly page has hit 9 million views!
Just to be absolutely clear, I do not think the views make me any better than anyone else. I mean, I'm sure some of those are from people who don't even like me. But I guess my point is that it's crazy to imagine that this page has been opened up that many times, and I can't help wondering where all these hits have come from. And I just feel so grateful that a select few people in those millions have come to be irreplaceable friends to me.
It's been a wild ride with all of you guys through all this time. To me this isn't just a page where I simply showcase my artwork or the cosplay photos my friends and I come up with. This site has opened up so many opportunities for me, and has introduced me to some of the most wonderful people I've met in my life.
It's been a journey, and my interactions with the people here have taught me more than I can express.
Apart from that, one thing I absolutely did not ex

Something that's been bugging me a bit lately is how the DA community has sorta changed over the years (and not in a good way). People are more bold and will post whatever's on their mind, and while that can be a good thing in some scenarios, I feel that people oftentimes say things that they might not realize will hurt someone's feelings.
I generally get a lot of positive feedback, and it really helps! It's always great to know that someone likes my work, and it keeps me motivated to keep going with this hobby. However, I'm still a human being, and negative criticism can hurt me just as much as anyone else. I'm not sure what it is, but the amount of really negative comments has increased these past couple years, and it really discourages me from even using this website anymore. Many times I've considered just disabling comments entirely, but I feel that would

Last night I finally assembled the mecha fully and activated all the lights for a test run, and EVERYTHING IS WORKING!!!!
So. after 6 months, here is the result of my blood sweat and tears (and money, don't forget money $$) for the championships!!
WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK WE ARE!!!!! :iconfirerageplz:
The final height is 2 metres 50 cm. It has 26 push lights in them to make up all the eyeballs, and runs on 78 AAA batteries lol.
I don't even know how to express how accomplished I feel right now.
Only 6 days until the flight to Nagoya now. Wish me luck to the finish ))))
Meanwhile, I'm just gonna chill for a bit

Ladies and Gentlemen, I do not and will not tolerate harassing or crude comments on my photography when it comes to the models I work with. If you want to take shots at me or the work that I do, fine, whatever.
HOWEVER, I do not care to hear what you would do to the models, for them, with them, etc etc. Keep your fantasies and your fetishes to the pages that put work out for that. If it happens on my work, either here on DA or over on Facebook, I will block, ban, and/or report you. Seriously. Keep it to yourself and grow up. It's not cute. It's not funny. Yes, the models are very pretty. No, they will not respond to you.
Period. End of discussion.
A More Serious Note before Massive Otakon UpdateSo this is a note that's going to take a more serious (and bitchy?) tone. The whole "Otakon-in-Review" journal will be full of my normal terrible wit and lame attempts at humor as I recall my Otakon, but I guess I wanted to make a journal for some of the undercurrent of what's been going on. Sort of a bit of some of my annoyances, and observations as of late. If that's not your cup of tea, cool beans by me, you can skip this entry and wait until the next one. Or, if you want to gripe/observe along with me, please, seriously, be my guest.A More Serious Note before Massive Otakon Update4 years ago in Personal More Like This
Before any of this begins, please note that I will be going through my shoots by the days that I shot them. We're part of the way through Friday now, so hang in there! If you want to check out stuff, I have a gallery up here titled "Otakon 2011", I also have previews up on my facebook page: http://facebook.com/mindfallmedia
If you worked with me, you will be receiving a link to a MobileMe gallery that will have edited, full sized pictures available for
How to become popular on deviantART(The following "guide" is based on my own experience, but it's not meant to be taken seriously)How to become popular on deviantART3 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
Alright everyone! You wanna know how to become popular on deviantART? Then follow these easy steps and you'll reach popularity in no time!
Change your usernameMake a new account
Whoops, sorry. I thought deviantART had a username-change system, but it doesn't. Looks like you'll have to start over and make a new account! Transfer your faves and the people you watch, because you need a good username if you want to be taken seriously here, and making a new account is the only option for now.
Make sure not to choose the name of an anime character and a bunch of random numbers as your username (naruto12345), choose one that's easy to remember and defines your person. Because seriously, who chooses a random word and random numbers as their username?
Step 2: Start making art
The site is called deviantART
Celebrate deviantART's 13th Birthday!Celebrate deviantART's 13th Birthday!2 years ago in DeviantArt Announcements More Like This
On the day of your birth, you were likely surrounded by those who loved you, who would lead you through the rough first scary years of life, and who would stand by as you grew into a capable person. As time passed, others may have drifted into your life, and even if you didn't know it, they also nurtured and cared for you in much the same way, helping to shape the person you would become.
When a community like deviantART is born, the same common thread binds its originators and founding members together. Over the years, more and more creative beings drift into its life and strengthen its core every single day, resulting in an exponentially inspirational powerhouse for the sheer fact that they've become a part of it. That nurturing spirit, that inherent support system, that caring community inspires deviantART to grow, and it comes from inside each and every one of you.

Dante's Inferno, What's the Worst that Can Happen?Dante's Inferno, What's the Worst that Can Happen?2 years ago in DeviantArt Announcements More Like This

Sometimes in youth we play crazy mind games. One gruesome game was trying to think of the worst way to die. Or even better, the "which would you choose" version of the same conceit. Another was what would be the worst torture to endure. If there is one international touchstone that best captures youthful fears and wonders in speculation of what lies beyond the veil of death and awaits as possible punishment for our sins, it must be - to the few who have actually read it to the millions who "know" it – "Dante's Inferno." Who does not shiver at the thought of being lost somewhere in the "Nine Rings of Hell?"

It takes me forever to update this part of deviant.. hahahaha.. I was busy the past few weeks preparing for our Magi Photoshoot~ it was such a dream come true.. sadly, I can't upload photos with nicer qualities since I haven't gotten any copies of it yet. But I will submit it here on deviant when it happens~ ;
My team mates are all so hyper and energetic and they are just as excited as I am. The costume turned out awesome but I have to make a few changes on it. People kept asking me how I did Kougyouku's hair.. bwehehehe.. I styled the wig and made the metal vessel myself, first time and it turned out great!

Thousand thanks to :iconsavagefrog: for the suggestion. This photo shoot wasn't easy at all, but it was worth it and I'm incredibly happy that so many people liked it so far, because to be honest I really wasn't sure if Olivier would suit me and if the photos will turn out anyway. It was terribly sunny and we had only one chance of taking pictures in the snow (since there's almost no snow in our area in winter). I had three pair of socks on but still nearly died of cold, haha.

Does your community have much of it?
As most of you know, I am pretty chill guy and you will not see drama come out of this page.
Though I must say, I had a pretty immature run years ago.
But fortunately thanks to a new found level of zen and priorities, I am having so much drama-free fun with my cosplay and friends.
