"I lost all my wealth. All my fortune. I don't know how or why."
Steve stared at Tony for a long silent moment, then sighed. "Come in," he said, waving the man into his house.
Tony followed Steve in reluctance through the open doorway, then shut it and locked it after him. He took off his black overcoat as he scanned the living room with cautious eyes.
The man's obviously telling the truth, Steve thought as he rubbed his eyes and made his way to the visible kitchen off to the far side of the living area. He would never even consider stepping foot into this run-down building if he could help it.
"Why didn't you go to Bruce or the other ave

Steve turned away from the blurry window he had been staring at for the past half hour. If he waited a moment longer, one of them was going to explode, and neither of them blowing was ever a good thing.
"Mr. Stark," Steve finally said as he glanced across the room to where Tony had been sitting, waiting impatiently.
"Rogers," Tony replied in almost a monotone. "Are you finally aware of how much time we've wasted? Oh, I'm sure you can wait even longeryou did for more than 70 years. I can't. I'm a busy man."
"Tony, I"
"Oh, it's Tony again now, is it?" he interrupted as his hand lashed out through the air angrily. "Well, cap, I'm

She'd been holding his hand and dragging him along at first, but then she had quickly let go when she realized the school might be closing soon.
"Wa-Wait, Puku!" he called back, following after her as fast as he could. He hated the way running made his glasses bounce a little up and down on his nose, so his speed was hindered by the way he kept pushing down on it to keep it perched onto his face. "W-Why are we rushing?!"
"The school might close soon! Hurry!" she answered, finally making it through the open double doors of the

The Way BackIt's often an arduous task to be counting the days, hours, seconds until I'll be seeing you again. The second we part, I'm counting. Does that sound pathetic to you?The Way Back1 year ago in Short Stories More Like This
"Okay, I can't do this anymore." I dropped my pencil down, letting it roll on the paper before me until it stopped. "You know my feelings about this, doctor."
"Why ever not?" My doctor, or therapist to be more specific, sat up straight in his armchair and spread his palms out. "It is precisely because I know your feelings that I'd like you to do this."
"I'm not a writer. I said that a hundred times already." I was becoming frustrated with him, something that has been happening

I took you for granted

I told myself and you
I loved you

I know now
I really do love you
Why must people realize love

that makes us human:
an inspiration
of feeling
Hate, envy, grudge
passion, joy, fun
It tests our spirit, will, freedom
It roams around
a game playing in our heads
tainting our hearts
always a challenge
to make us lose ourselves.
"Cheater"?
Just an excuse,
it'll never be heeded with just words.
Why the winner should prove they can win again
it's a mystery pride need not mind.
It doesn't want to give it up
that resentment
for both winner and loser
only so one of them
will come out winning
That which defines
the meaning of competition.
In the end,
the result
the ability to win or lose
to shout out that you've won
or if it feels wrong
to make it right
or to brood over why you've lost
is what counts.
And afterward, we'll get back up
play another round of games
never once thinking about
making everyone a winner.
Yet have contests ever held us together
as a people?

Confessing Your Love Is HardI never truly experienced love,Confessing Your Love Is Hard5 months ago in Free Verse More Like This
but I think crushing on someone comes pretty darn close
especially since I always thought about all those boys
constantly, day after day.
It goes on for months,
for years,
all up until the last day of school,
and no longer can I see any of them again.
I can't ask them for promises of keeping in touch,
because I never told them my feelings
and since they never told theirs to me,
I thought there was no point in confessing.
It means they don't love me enough, right?
If the guy doesn't confess to me first,
then there's no point in confessing at all, right?
But hello!
It's the 21st century! Girls oft

Frozen in time
Like an old photograph
Bright colors, subdued with nostalgia
Glistening dewdrops
Kiss the flowers' velvet dresses
A fresh breeze
Swirls around me in a whirlwind of
Hope and love
I inhale the dreams that died
Buried under the hard ground
That the new rain has unearthed
I dance with abandon
Childish laughter bubbles up like a spring
As I vivaciously stomp through a stagnant puddle
Life breathes around me
As I spin and twirl
Smiling as the sun begins to shine on me
Parting through grey clouds
It beams at me with its gorgeous rays

I can never remember how to complete that phrase. I know it's something simple, something that's made. But me being me, I'm as slow as ever.
Whatever the case may be, I find that expression most accurately describes my situation now. I realized that for the first time ever, I have feelings for someone. It's not a simple crush either; I've fallen in love. How that came to be now, all of a sudden, and not any other time in the past 19 years I've known this person, I didn't know. I wondered until my headache almost split me open.
I have absolutely no experience with love. No good friends to talk about it with, no people to hear about it from, no TV to watch its work, no book. My parents divorced right after I’d been born, and I was given to my single aunt who’s been separated from her unloving husband for my whole life. So how could I have realized this now, and why did I love this person?

He dropped his hand to his side, sighing as the pressure left his mouth. "Puku..." he breathed.
"Yes?" Puku asked from behind him.
He whirled around, his flustered eyes jumping up to meet hers. "O-Oh, you're here! So-Sorry, I didn't mean...Please, I'll help you with the ducks in a moment. Just-Just don't worry."

What honestly humbles me the most when it comes to dA, is that even when I am doing absolutely nothing, and seldom comment on your stuff lately (It's not due to me being uninterested, I just have become super busy lately, and I need to adjust my classwork/dA work) I still average at least 50 pageviews a day. I think that is lovely. While I don't look at pageviews when it comes to popularity, it's nice that my inactivity has made it so I am not forgotten.
So to show my appreciation, I would really like to kick my first year off on dA with a BANG. And that is with what? Making my own contest, with what as a grand prize? A One-Year Premium Membership

Then Donald Falders entered the picture, and she thought she had his image down pat. God, she was so wrong.
How did I end up looking forward to our dates? she wondered while sitting down at their table in the Starbucks they'd been frequenting the whole summer. It's already our 15th lunch, and I still get nervous.
Ten minutes ago, she'd fussed over her wardrobe, trying to find something new to wear. Her black sundress covered in white lilies and 2-inch heels complemented her slim figure, but it was the last of the outfits she had to show Don before she'd have to revert to some not-so-stylish combinations of clothing.
Today she took especially long putting her curly blond hair into a neat, pretty bun, though she made sure it didn't look like so

The cravings came back slowly, steadily, like an infection.
Dean hadn’t been expecting them. After fixing himself up with rehab, he’d been clean for nearly ten years. But then, he broke his nose during a case in Minnesota. He hadn’t been paying attention and walked headlong into a telephone pole.
Feeling the flesh puff up made Dean think of the fourth grade, when Landon Walker asked him, “Does your dad smell smoke every time he fucks a lady now?”
Dean had run up to him, fists flying, and Landon landed a punch right in the center of his face that left him on the ground, on his b

It was easier then the truth.
All I wanted was somebody to see.
Is that honestly too much to ask? Somebody ask me "what's wrong?"
Me answering "nothing."
And that person saying "you're not fooling me." Such simple words.
Now, the lie has become the truth. If they can't care neither can I.
I lived, until the lie became the truth.
