Below are some of the major points of the service and some of my initial thoughts. This is a beta, though, so things will likely flux and evolve with member feedback. But here's some high-level stuff.
Points
The first thing that jumped out at me was that buyers would not pay cash (via PayPal or whatever) for downloads, but a new form of currency, DA Points. Right away I'm leery of anything requiring "virtual currency". Facebook and Zynga haven't done that concept any favors. And the points currency Xbox Live uses is still baffling to me.

The deviant meet in Paris...I was in yeaaaaaaah , there was almost 400 attendee, but we finally were around 150/200 deviants, plus the DA HQ staff. I met many drawers, some photographer too, and the way some ppl drew, and this i saw them in real was really impressive. The new thumbs themselves. They look great!
What I like most with the new thumbs, is what they've done with the larger deviations. It's safe to say that I won't miss those skinny, hard-to-click thumbnails (which are usually in the Tutorials gallery or deviantART Suggestions).
Left-alignment. Unlike most of the community, I actually like the left-alignment. I guess it's just a preference. It just looks better to me.

After twelve years of going without it, my grandmother will finally start chemotherapy on Monday. She's raised me since I was a baby and my mum isn't in the picture, so she essentially is my mother. I'm really having a hard time accepting some of the less pleasant possibilities that come with this. Her mortality is something I've always mentally known but never been able to emotionally accept, and seeing her so weak all the time is doing bad things to me.
About three years ago, our neighbor and friend was being treated for leukemia and died from a lung infection he got after a bone marrow transplant that wiped out his immune system, and that's been on my mind a lot as well.
Hopefully it will go well. She has a brother with waldenstroms (it's genetic) who's had these same treatments twice and responded well to them, so I'm trying to focus on that and remain hopeful, but I'm still very scared. I don't know what I'd do if something happened to he
