A movie for all How to Train Your Dragon fans.Back in 2010, the same year that Dragon was released, I stumbled upon an animated film that was released in 2005. I found it by complete accident, but it instantly became one of my top favorite films, ever. To this day, it is basically unknown to everyone in the US, even to the most die hard Anime fans.A movie for all How to Train Your Dragon fans.3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Yes, the movie is an anime, but trust me, this isn't your typical anime. If the characters spoke english, you'd think it was made by Disney.
The movie is titled, Arashi no Yoru ni, or in english, One Stormy Night. Links to watch it are at the bottom, no need to search for it yourself and spoil things. The less you know, the better, just keep reading
I'll give you a brief summary, but don't worry, I wouldn't think of spoiling anything from this incredible movie.
It's about a young goat, and a wolf. They are sworn enemies by nature. A big storm rolls in, and both the goat and wolf seek shelter in an old barn. Because they can't see or smell each other, they think they are both the same
Tutorial and Inspiration MasterPostWell, some weeks ago when I posted my Journal Ten Years of Drawing, :iconSyalice: asked me in the comment what my fave tutorials were for composition and other things like that.Tutorial and Inspiration MasterPost2 years ago in Personal More Like This
So I thought I was just going to do a giant tutorial masterpost.
Also, on sidenote, I GOT MY NEW TABLET, LIFE IS AWESOME. I wanted to do a giveaway with my previous one, but only five minutes after I unpacked the new tablet, my little brother just waltzed in and asked if he could take the old one. I must say, I wasn't too happy with that, because he isn't really drawing seriously and I thought there were people who would need it more, but my mother thought it was a very good idea indeed and so I had to give it to him. There goes that, then.

For inspiration, check out Mindcandyman on conceptart. Look at the first couple of pages of his sketchbook (2002) and then jump to about page 40 (2004) to see how far someone can progress in about 2 years (and beyond): http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=870&page=41
Studying realism would be a good first step. Even if you want to work in, say, a comic book style, you need to have a handle on realistic drawing. Knowing realism will help you improve your drawings a lot. Let's say you want to get better at dragons, you could study lizards and snakes for the body structure and birds and bats for wing structure. Dinosaurs as well, but those are a little hard to find nowadays.

This randomizer was made by Hathien603, BaliroAdmin, and BVicius.
The original idea was to create this for the Horse Art RP Game on Deviantart - but it is free to use by others as well and for other purposes.
We do kindly ask for credit though.
Please link back to these journal's where possible, so others may find it as well.
Recently my husband frog357 took some free time and surprised me by announcing he had turned this into an automatically randomized generator. Please visit this link to view the automatic randomizer: http://arienequine.com/design/index.php?q=content/welcome-horse-personality-randomizer

Cinderella A Dream is a Wish
Cinderella and her glass slipper have become a modern day institution since Disney’s classic film debuted 65 years ago.
The tale we’ve come to know today originated in Europe, but its roots can be traced as far back as Ancient Egypt where we find the original “Cinderella,” a Greek slave girl named Rhodopis who goes on to marry the king of Egypt. The Cindere

There is no cosmic law that states artists must suffer many long years and demeaning day-jobs before a window of opportunity cracks open just enough to hop on through.
Fellow deviant Brian Kesinger is a case in point.
His first “day-job” in 1996—he was hired straight out of his senior year of high school—was drawing Tarzan for Disney.
Brian stayed at Disney and he considers every day there a part of his ongoing education as an artist. He most recent

- guiding you as an artist and improving your artistic skills
So having said that... let's get started!
I have been drawing for a long time. Since I was little I would draw all the time on anything I could find. That passion for drawing and art has always stayed with me. But the problem is talent or potential will only get you so far. If you really want to become a great artist you will have to put in many hours of work. And you would preferably have someone there to guide you. Even now I am learning about basic skills I wish I had learned years ago. That is the problem of being self taught... you have to figure everything out yourself. Of course there are benefits to that too. Self taught artists are generally very motivated and passionate people. I have only come to the point where I am now just because I am passionate and slightly obsessed with drawing. But I want to know more, learn more and improve more. So that is why I am setting up this little drawi

"You can't just turn on creativity like a faucet. You have to be in the right mood.
What mood is that?
You are well-aware of the importance of this project, in fact you can't wait to get to it! Too bad you promised your friends to go for a drink, and then there's that movie. Also, your productivity is at its strongest at Midnight, first Tuesday after the Full Moon, starting earlier would be a waste of time. Make sure you are well-rested! After all, is there a better way to prepare yourself for a productive tomorrow than an enjoyable today?
Your diagnosis: Procrastination positive.
