Umm, before I forget, make sure to check this one out http://theartreferences.tumblr.com , Pencil-Stencil told me about it, and I found some really useful stuff there Part 3 will probably be about eyes, lips, skin and blending, and it will be up in a few days.

Video of my process of colorization(EN)Video of my process of colorization3 years ago in Personal More Like This
As I promised, here is a video I made with :iconUrbanMelon: that shows the colorization process I use for the characters painting.
I know it's a little quick, but maybe in the future I'll try to add more videos like that. They probably only will show some little elements painting like eyes, hands, etc... with a normal playing speed.
The character, Fulbert is an OC of :iconChristouffe: .
PE: Power of PerspectivePE: Power of PerspectivePE: Power of Perspective3 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Perspective is the angle and depth of a piece of art. Changing perspective allows for drastic differences. There is more than one kind of perspective, and all of them allow for more dynamic pieces of art if used correctly.
There are three common choices, and these are explained later.
Usually perspective deals with how close things appear, and correctly rendering perspective adds depth to an image and increases the impact of the composition.
One Point Perspective
One point perspective is where there is one vanishing point in a piece. . A vanishing point is essentially the in-the-distance-until-you-can'
t-see anymore point.
You see this perspective often, images of roads, or landscape often have one point perspective.
Examples of one point perspective:
Know your Basics - PerspectivePerspective comes in different forms, the most obvious & basic of which is the use of the word in relation to the appearance of relative orientation in a three dimensional space. At first, it may seem irrelevant to photomanipulators, (because, hey, the photographs already are perspectively sound,) but putting more than one photograph in context requires that you learn to see what makes sense and what doesn't.Know your Basics - Perspective4 years ago in Art Features More Like This
The Technical Stuff
Perspective (from Latin perspicere, to see through) in the graphic arts, such as drawing, is an approximate representation, on a flat surface (such as paper), of an image as it is seen by the eye. The two most characteristic features of perspective are that objects are drawn:
Smaller as their distance from the observer increasesForeshortened: the size of an object's dimensions along the line of

"If I could tell the story in words, I wouldn't need to lug around a camera"
- Lewis Hine
This week I happened across a Photographer who shoots the economy - currently in the UK. If you ever wondered what Economy looks like - and what the recession looks like - in the Photographic sense then wonder no more. Simon Robert's has it captured. What really struck me though, aside from the complete normality and sometimes mundane life that made the photographs, was the comments on the Article that I read about Simon. The BBC Wrote about him yesterday and nearly all the comments were from people advocating boredom. The Irony is that Simon Robert's had, in full colour, photographed our lives. And the general consensus was that it was dull and unimaginative. How very English we are.

On my profile page, I feature a new deviation every day (or two or three). The piece is usually something that caught my eye. Could be an amazing digital painting, a fun stamp, a quick photograph that made me smile, perhaps a piece for a weekly theme, whatever. However, it moved me enough to share it with my visitors. Below is a list of the artists which I featured during July 2012. I am showcasing different pieces from their gallery in the hope of showing them a bit more love. If you would like to see the original piece I featured of each of these artists, please visit

Project Educate: Photojournalism OverviewThis week ^Kaz-D and myself are bringing you an overview of the Photography Galleries on deviantART. This won't replace the full weeks planned by the specific community volunteers for specific galleries - but instead it will help to give you a mini introduction into what's out there.Project Educate: Photojournalism Overview3 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Photojournalism gives us newsworthy photographs wherein the primary motivation is to recount a story not assist a story.
Photojournalism photos aim to capture a moment that tells a story, without the aid of posing the subjects or the use of post processing.
Concerts and Musicians
Photographs of concerts, listeners, or other subjects documenting the lives and careers of musicians.

PE - Project Animate Introduction + BasicsHello all and welcome to Project Educate - Animation!PE - Project Animate Introduction + Basics3 years ago in Art Features More Like This
This week is going to feature stunning animation, interviews with amazing people and a strong focus on Pre-Production within Animation. Also during the week I'll have facts about animation that you might not have known about!
I'll be featuring amazing animation, helping newbies get their feet wet and how to upload your animations to deviantART. I will also be talking about web animation sensations on websites such as Youtube and Newgrounds.
Before we start, I'd like to push my Art History articles - I wrote two journals about the History of Animation up until 1990, so if you feel you dont know your Fleischers from your Windsor McCays then step this way!
Of course, though, animation exists everywhere and has done for hundreds of years! There ar

They need to be reminded that they are not mistakes but that they are a different and new path than the one taken previously.
Don’t let those who are lost lead your path for you. They will only you lead you wrongly and you will lose yourself along the way.
This is your life, live it based on every little success you earn and learn from every mistake you make.
Their mistakes are their own, and you are not a mistake. You are a successful example of what it means to be alive. There is no greater success than that.
This life is yours. Be something — be someone you’re proud of.
That's all I have to say.
Welcome to Photomanipulation Week!Welcome, all, to Photomanipulation Week here at Project Educate!Welcome to Photomanipulation Week!3 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
This week, the photomanipulation community will be introducing you to some of our styles, techniques, and concepts. We will show you our diversity and our style. We will demonstrate our skills and our creativity. You will be hearing from the community in their own voices what it means to be a photomanipulator here on dA.
Let's get started!
What is photomanipulation?
The official definition of "photomanipulation" (PM), according to deviantART, is: an image that is composed of two or more photographic elements to create something new. This definition has been very nicely analyzed and distinguished from other genres here, here, and here, but let's talk briefly about the three main components o

Sans serif — Roman
In this article/tutorial I will show you how to design a typeface. I will cover the basics and show you how to design advanced letters as well. There is so much I can talk about though, so if people like this article I might expand on this with future articles and get more into detail. I will only cover the design though, so you will have to research how to do the spacing and programming and turn your typeface into a usable font—or wait until I might do an article on that as well, but I don’t have such an article planned anytime soon.
What will we design?
I will first show you how to design some basic letters for a geometric sans typeface like Futura, because it utilizes geometric shapes, which is always my starting point for every typeface regardless of style. O

Hi I’m Andrea Dotta: a Pro comic artist and animator and one year ago I had the insane idea of making a powerful webcomic to show my works to more people as possible. Now I’m in a positive development towards my goal. If you want to do a webcomic, always do your best as their are millions of webcomics on the internet.
In this article, I would like to share the things that I’ve learned this year so I hope you will get something from me.
IDEA: There are no bad ideas, there are only ideas that are not developed. To develop your idea, you need to be authentic - think of your real life experiences to give credibility to your story. If you need a sad story, think of a sad story in your life. If you want a happy story, think and say what i

"Sam Dead" from "The League of Elder"
Currently I find myself in a phase of making advanced use of colors in my work to enhance depth, mood and to underline certain values.
While doing so, I found a necessity to share this knowledge and insights in some kind of a reference. There are practical tips for everyday use, this post is useful for traditional artists as well.
When working in a professional environment there is rarely the time to go out and do plein-air paintings or studies, this is something artists have to do in their spare time, to form the foundations and understanding of perception of our environment. On the other hand it is extremely important to see processed works as well, to see the differences and to learn from these observations.
Basically, all knowledge artists have, is built upon passion and is acquired through personal experience, museum-visits, observation and anatomical studies have to be done
