February 3, 2014 featuresI've been remiss in updating my journal. I haven't had a lot of extra time this past year, no desire and I've done a lot of faving and running and not a lot of commenting. I apologize for that but I think many folks are just as busy as I am and just as burnt out as I am.February 3, 2014 features9 months ago in Personal More Like This
I go through the motions of carrying my camera with me but I rarely use it. Winter is not an inspiring time for me--never has been. It's just the way it is. In hindsight, I would have been living near the equator somewhere so there really wasn't any change in seasons. Maybe then I'd stay on an even keel and not have those wild tilts like a sailboat in a hurricane. Every December, I swear, I'm going down for the last time. This year was rough.
Some friends of mine convinced me to invest in a daylight light therapy light. It's on & shining on me every second that I am home. That, I think, is the only thing that has kept me from swirling down the drain like the Ty-D-Bol Man flushed away. I publicly thank them both but

What's better than blue?
Blue and rust.
corrosive etching under glass
ticking like nails
drumming on slate.
The wind in my face
ever present, ever cold
the distant signs keep me warm
but leave me dry.
I'm dry and blue
like the drowned metal
rusting my desire
with a mercurochrome memory
I seem to be missing.

APRIL - ARIESAPRIL - ARIES6 months ago in Personal More Like This
April is dominated by the charming Aries Constellation and bring close to us a powerful zodiac sign.
so, let's see! :icontruesmiles:
Aries is willing to change and challenge, is attracted to adventure and risk. He is born to be a natural leader, a man who regards life as a perpetual struggle and everyone around them are competitors. Aries is competitive, courageous, self-confident, proving very bold. Has initiative, likes to take the lead or to start some projects that others do not have the courage to launch. Natives of Aries (March 21-April 19) are very joyful, intemperate, have perseverance in pursuing goals and don't accept compromises. The tendency to defend the point of view can sometimes turn into tyranny. Aries are not influenced by others, they have a will of iron and are extremely passionate in love. People born in Aries, always goes forward to their proposed target, without thinking to the obstacles that may arise i

Something that happened todayOnly it isn't today any longer, it almost never is but the one time,Something that happened today2 years ago in Personal More Like This
but still it was today when it happened.
There's been no poetry poking about in my soul
these days but I've been circumspect about it
and counseled myself that like a bear in winter
it may not be dead but only growing cubs,
living off stored fat, and sleeping.
Today I was at the grain store buying feed
for my four horses. The man who loads the grain
out of the warehouse is leathery and lean as an old bean.
He's chatty and kind, and when I have dogs in the car
he gives them too many biscuits and has to wait to load
the grain bags till they finish.
So as I said, this vessel for the poetry she-bear (me)
was buying and he was loading and chatting and about the third
bag he asked me what kind of horses I had, and I told him,
and then he said to me that when he were a young man
there was a Morgan mare lived on the farm of a man he worked for,
and only he could load this mare onto a horse trailer when it was time
for her and

As mentioned recently, we’re making a bunch of changes to the new Stash...
If you're new to Stash, find out more about it here: http://devbug.deviantart.com/journal/Stash-215498179
The latest changes: Sta.sh is now a separate section of the deviantART Network - with its own header, and its own look.
Here's a sneak peek!
"Stash" no longer exists on your Submit menu, but instead can be gotten to one of two ways:
You can pick "Sta.sh" from your main profile menu.. next to Logout and Settings
Or, you can type http://sta.sh into your address bar
Note: to switch back to deviantART, pick the "deviantART" item from the Sta.sh main menu.
Switching over and back:
Other than that, the Stash functionality remains much the same - Drag and drop your

Logo & Symbol Process TruismsIf you follow me and my work, you are likely well aware that I enjoy logo and symbol design. I don't consider myself the lord of logo design, as there are far more designers out there whom I idolize and have the process nailed down to a science, but quite frankly I think I've become pretty good at it over the years. So with a bit of time and experience under my belt, I wanted to share some truisms I've learned that I find in every one of my design projects.Logo & Symbol Process Truisms3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Almost without fail, the first idea you fall in love with will be one of your worst ideas. When you find you've fallen in love with a concept, let other people see it, and then take a break. Come back to the work a few days later and see what new directions you can head in.
Don't fall in love with your ideas. I say it but it's inevitable. You actually will always fall in love with an idea. But hey, TRY not to.
Simple symbols designed in 1 color work best. If you're designing in color when you start, you're making end-of-the-project

Lance Armstrong = EPIC WINI'm frankly tired of all the little bitches in the media yapping away in their over the top outrage about Lance Armstrong's asshole behavior. It's so fashionable to hate Lance these days. Really, is this guy really supposed to be THE one we all should hate? Everyone on TV is telling you so. Well, do you?Lance Armstrong = EPIC WIN2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I just realized that I don't hate him nearly as much as all these wishy washy assholes pretending like they wouldn't do it if they had the chance. The deal? Train as hard as you can. Dope and lie about it. Win the shit. Get $100M of personal fortune, and raise a few hundred millions for charity.
Everyone condemning Lance for lying has lied numerous times, probably even that same day. The difference? He had the the balls the size of Jupiter and Saturn to take it it to its logical conclusion, and the perseverance and tenacity to win seven Tour de Frances. He's an asshole, no doubt. However, the other thousands of cyclists who doped came nowhere near accomplishing that type of feat. Keep
