The Babies in the RiverThe citizens of a small town were having picnic beside a river, when someone noticed that a baby was floating by. The baby was sputtering, barely able to keep its head above water, and at once someone jumped into the river to save the child. But while he was busy saving the first baby, more and more children appeared in the water, floating down past the town's people from some distant point upstream. The Babies in the River4 years ago in Flash Fiction & Vignettes More Like This
Now, the town's people were kind-hearted and generous men and women, and not the sort to hesitate to help someone in need. Therefore, they all waded into the river to pull the children from the water, but the drowning babies just kept coming, and as hard as they tried the town's people couldn't save them all. Night began to fall, making it even harder to rescue so many babies, and more and more of them floated by unsaved or sank under the darkening waters.
Finally, one of the town's people crawled out of the water. And he said, "This isn't working. I'm going to go upstream, and I'm going t

Where the pain inside is released with the tears you shed
And when you're finished you can curl up with the quiet and sleep.
It's not like sadness,
When the feeling is definite,
And you know it's not all in your head.
It claws at your chest,
Constricting your heart and your muscles lock up.
I wonder if I'll disappear.
It doesn't go away,
But lurks deep inside,
And you wonder if you're simply crazy.
Your thoughts swim as you're gasping for breath,
And even though you know it's coming,
You're still afraid.
And when it's all over,
You're still at the breaking point of emotion.
I wonder if I'll disappear.
What Makes a Good AuditionThis is a guide to writing for OCTs. Every medium and genre of writing is unique and should be approached in a different way, but if you keep the following things in mind when you write for OCTs your audition and character will come across much stronger and be more likely considered for a roster position. What Makes a Good Audition6 years ago in Writing More Like This
Judges and your general audience alike are typically looking for three major factors when they read your audition: Interesting Characters, A Unique Plot, and Clarity of Storytelling. If your audition does not excel in at least one of these areas you will almost certainly be looked over when it comes time for judging no matter how slick and professional your art is.
I firmly believe that there is no such thing as a bad character. Any character, if presented well, can be interesting--be they Human, alien, psychotic, or cliché.
The trick you need to employ is treating the character in a way that supp

I will attempt to NOT ramble on this thing because that is definitely a thing I do.
Recently I was asked about how I made the prop for my Karkat cosplay--the Homes Smell Ya Later--so without a long preamble, I'll just kind of outline it here as best I can. Fortunately, I took a fairly decent crop of progress pics!
Materials used in making this prop:
plywood 2 chunks of 1/2 inch thick MDF (Medium-Density Fiberboard) about 5 in. long and no more than 2 in. wide wood glue four 3/4 inch screws wood putty wood filler matte acrylic paint acrylic sealer (it's one of those little bottles that people ignore that is sold with regular paint) Mod Podge Hard Coat (purple jar) matte acrylic varnish
Tools used in making this prop:
Dremel push drill (but a regular drill will work fine) scroll saw hand saw clamp wood rasp (a pretty g
A Guide To Using The DeviantART Chat RoomsI asked my evil friend Evil-e33 to help me write a nifty guide to using the Chat Rooms on DeviantART. I did all the work and she poked me repeatedly in the left arm (which is now bruised) and came up with witty one liners that make me look foolish.A Guide To Using The DeviantART Chat Rooms6 years ago in Art Features More Like This
