The Great and Powerful
Last of the fireworks explodes in the sky
Stage is silent after the show, a success once again
Fans' approval still echoes here, the most wondrous of sounds
Left astonished of my skills, as if there ever was any doubt
Soon I will leave this town for my next stop:
Everypony should have the chance to see my fame
Behold peasants, for your mistress is here
Cheer me! Praise me!
The Master of Mages, the greatest of all
No point to challenge, whatever you try
All you do I can do better
There is no shame to bow 'fore my might
One day the whole world will know the Great and Powerful!
I've seen the horrors of Everfree, kept my courageous heart
Stood up against the wildest beasts, and walked away alive
No mage has overpowered me,

Derpy Hooves was inside her home to avoid the winter storm, she had already started a fire in her fireplace and had put a blanket over herself to help her warm up again. As Derpy looked out her window she was very glad she was not in the storm anymore. She started to relax a little when a thought struck her mind, 'what if somepony was stuck outside?' The warmth of the fire in front of her was very inviting compared to the cold outside, but in Derpys heart she knew that the possibility of leaving somepony outside while she was safe inside was not something she could ignore. After grabbing her winter wears Derpy went back out into the raging winter storms in order to help whoever needed it.
Rarity was trying to head to the rendezvous point, but her progress back across Ponyville was quite slow. Rarity's hooves were aching from running through the snow to Sweet Apple Acres. She was thinking, 'Oh why was I, of all ponies, chosen to go the farthest distance to see if Rainbow Dash

"Sir! We have terrible news!"
"what is it?" Japan demanded, needing to know what had just happened to his country. He could already feel the effects that the bomb had caused, as there was a burning hole in his side now.
"...Hiroshima has been wiped out... It's gone sir!"
The nation cursed low. It was worse than he thought. That American fool was trying to scare him into submission, but he wouldn't back down. There was no honor in giving up. That was how he had been taught. How all of his people were taught.
"...Sir... What do we do?" the soldier asked.
"We keep fighting. Keep fighting until we win this. And if we die, at least we die with honor and dignity."
The soldier saluted. He raced out of the room to spread the news to all other generals

But that does not mean it will be fair.
I have to be strong to be able to bare
This love, that is there.
One day you will see
How much you mean to me.
But until then, let there be harmony
In this love that was meant to be.
Yet I must say,
That there while never be decay,
In these feelings I have everyday.
For it pains me to see you fading away,
But I can't stop you from walking away.
Maybe one day you will know,
Just how far I will go,
For this love that I will share.

-Earlier that day-
"Woohoo! This is amazing!" Rainbolt shot through the sky, the wind breaking against her. She was an unstoppable force with her eyes set on a beautiful white palace in the distance. "I can't remember the last time I flew this fast!"
The sky above had morphed into a canvas painted of reds, with clouds multiplying slowly, but steadily. The evening air was crisp; cold as it bit into Rainbolt's lungs with each new breath. If it were any other time the Pegasus would have hated the feeling, but as she soared through the sky the bitter-sweet cold filled her body with joy. Rainbolt couldn't remember the last time she was this excited over something.
The Wonderbolt tryouts. The very thought warmed the Pegasus's chest, her heart beating rapidly. As the Canterlot stadium grew ever closer, Rainbolt began her descent. And then she saw them. The Wonderbolts. Just standing there, watching as the last participant finished his routine with a barrel

We will see ourselves in Broadway.
We can be light when we melt.
And we know what Heavens for.
It's just the way to go, since we are made for it.
There is nothing down here at all.
Nothing but time, regrets and lies.
Father, if I was any other, you could have been mine.
You could have been mine.
Forlorn is not a phase, it's a watch.
Is whole life in there ticking?
Someday you'll learn to fly.
And you will grasp what you lost.
Will you grasp us?
You will see ourselves in the night.
Where light thrives, and we'll wait there.
And you know what Heavens for.
It's a Child's Memory.
There is nothing here at all.
Nothing but a Will, and a year or two, that's all.
So leave the light on tonight, so you won't leave alone.
You won't leave alone.
Time is not a phase, it's Life.
Was it good to you?
Someday you'll learn to sing again.
And you will realize we're listening.
Do you realize?

"What do we have Kowalski." The three penguins stood at attention as they faced the fourth. Kowalski, as he was apparently called, was a tall penguin with a rounded head. Like the other penguins, his back and flippers were pure black while his front was pure white except a widow's peak on his forehead. He waddled to his place before pointing to a machine in the middle of the underground cement bunker room that hid their own anti-matter-fusion-reactor-core... and their TV.
"Gentleman, I give you my latest invention, THE DIMENSIONATER!" This was apparently old hat for the other three, they didn't even blink.
"And what does it do...." asked the first penguin who spoke. He was the second shortest of the four, with a flat topped head that was reminiscent of a buzz cut. He sipped his coffee which had a fish tail in it.
"It lets us travel to other dimensions! Admittedly,
What If? - Chapter 2What If? - Chapter 23 years ago in Drama More Like This
He had been gone for years. Many of those who remembered him from his days on the farm had either left, or were getting on in years. Only a few of the older ponies of Ponyville had been around to meet him during his tenure, and out of those ponies, even fewer remembered him. Even as so few had known him, many had let his memory slip from their minds, only to be replaced by the various events they had experienced in the many years since he had left. For most, he had become unimportant. For years, only the elderly matriarch of the Apple Family had anticipated, and feared, the possibility of his return. Her grandchildren, however, had not shared these concerns with her, so when time finally caught up with her, her anxiety left alongside her. Nopony else had even expected for him to return, least of all his children.
For this reason, Applejack was left nearly speechless. She had been but a young filly when she had last seen him; she hadn't even received her cutie mark when he lef

It's Christmas Eve and I've been five for not even a week and I am absolutely intent on showing my maturity to the world. I am the youngest in my family, the smallest, but not the most naive. Sure, I don't yet know about the dangers of this world, but I am five. I will learn, but, for now, I am the smartest five-year-old who ever lived.
The lights shining down into my glass shed the top of the water a pretty purple and I smile. That's my mommy's color. Always has been. Always will be. It's the color of her make-up kit, the color of her favourite pair of slippers.
Then, it turns blue and my smile widens. That's my daddy's color, I'm sure of it. It's the color of his eyes, the color of the bandana he wears around his head while he cleans, the color of his favourite Muppet, the Cookie Monster.
Finally, the lights turn

Not to say a word?
They always leave me to burn
Making these feelings absurd
It's such a waste of time
A useless exercise of rhyme
These feelings just repeat
Leaving me at their feet
I realized long ago
That my reasons to try
Would soon softly die
How could I not know?
Questions without answers
Flit across the page
Like tragically beautiful ballet dances
Wondering where they belong in this age
My place is undecided
And only with the pen
Are these feelings confided
Then left to rot in the liar's den

It seemed like a happy place. So it seemed. Ponies were off to war in a snap of a finger to defend their clan. The trading market was fine, and it seemed that the wielders of the elements of harmony were all in star clan.
"Hey guys! I brought back a new pony!" RB said. A purple unicorn stepped out of the library. She too was wearing a golden chest plate.
"Rainbow dash! What makes you so sure that this pony isn't a spy?" the purple unicorn yelled. Rainbow dash pointed to both my horn and my wings.
"Err some ponies have wings and some have horns, I have both, what's the big deal?" I said.
"Oh! You mean he's an Alicorn! Yeah he would be a great addition to the clan." She said happily.
"An Alicorn? Whats that?" I asked.
"An Alicorn is a mixture of a Pegasus and a Unicorn. People call it an Alicorn for short." She explained, "Alicorns are very rare, and not seen often. You can use magic combat in the air, and that helps a lot. Oh I forgot to introduce myself, I'm Twilight Sparkle. Lie
Invisible ChildWith arrogant strides they walk along the streets,Invisible Child3 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
Stopping only to gaze at one of
These over-expensive dresses,
Or a necklace made of shining jewels,
Or to buy a sugar cake.
Never once do their eyes meet
The eyes of the little boy
Leaning against the wall of a shop,
Lost in the shadows, huddled in his coat
Covered in holes, trying to fight the cold.
Should they ever face in his direction,
They avert their gazes, some disgusted,
Some a little embarrassed maybe.
But not a word of greeting is said
To the invisible child.
With a sigh he looks down at his hat,
Placed carefully in front of him,
A silent plea for a spare coin,
Unheard, unnoticed. Empty.
No hope for the invisible child.
But, just as he embraces the cold,
A ray of sunlight breaks the darkness,
As a girl bends down towards him,
And into his shivering hands
She carefully places a coin.

And poetry is dead,
When the petals have all fallen
Off the flower's closing head,
When the music has all but faded
And the notes play out in silence,
A wispy wind whisks out the warmth
And the candles go out hence,
The clock shows not the hours
Yet the seconds that remain,
And the eyes see no perdition
Or liberation from his pain,
And the hurt is so heartless
Revelling in agony's ecstasy,
And the twinge is unrelenting
Blind and deaf to plea,
Yet as the languish surges
And the spirit is almost through,
There comes a hooded seraph
Welcome by very few,
Like a mother to a child
He holds the weary to his breast,
And sings a tranquil lullaby
For the impaled to rest,
Why do we all fear death
When the only felt pain is in life,
And with our final breath
We exhale out mortal strife.

Regulus waled into the Garden of Altair. It was a magnificent garden; the trees tower high over the rest of the garden, the flowers were in bloom every where he went, all the area was covered in lush meadows, and even the weeds if there are even any would look marvelous. Regulus himself was wearing a white suit with matching hat and a red shirt underneath. He found Spica sitting on the nearby bench.
Spica: OK where did you get that?
Regulus: I bought this suit, it seemed neater.
Spica: Uh-huh, so why are you here? You never come to Altair.
Regulus: I wanted to see if the sphere is safe.
Spica: Oh yeah it's safe. Here you go but I want it back in an hour.
She handed him the blue sphere. Regulus left without saying thanks.

I have sought sweet mercy - God's own release
and prayed for his swift justice to abound.
I have walked past the soldiers in the street
and heard their cries run shameless without sound -
the tired, shuffling resonance of feet.
And in the morning's chilled and angry blast,
I recognize the music of retreat
as if I saw the ghosts that knew my past
gathering at the tables for a feast.
Then God allow these thoughts to be my last
for I have hopes my blessings will increase
and the dark symphony of war will cease.

This time I swear I'll do everything
This time I swear I'll keep those promises
Giving a promise for new year is a tradition
Not keeping them is also a tradition
It starts good, I'm keeping the promise
I made for myself and I am proud of it
Then as the days keeps coming
I don't really keep the promises
They are there, in the back of my head
but I don't care about them anymore
As the year goes by, I forget all about the promise
and then it's New Year again
Time for a new promise
that I sure enough won't keep
The clock rings
The year is over
a new one is here
And I am alive and can't be more happy
This year I'll make a promise I can keep
A promise where I swear I'll hurt someone,
then make it all good again
and getting a friend for life
This year I promise I'll meet a new friend,
a new enemy and a new family member
This year I promise I'll spend time doing important things
and spend time doing nothing at all
This year I promise I'll lose

Chapter 6: Trial and dragon part III
The mechanical beast gave out a loud roar and stuck its neck high in the air. A blast of fire shot from its open maw, scorching the stone ceiling.
"Run. NOW!" Twilight shouted. The machine roared and lifted it two legs from the floor, the claws now extended straight in front. It then shot out another gout of fire and began to charge down the hall as its wheels moved. The ponies noticed how its tail was letting out even more steam.
The unicorn ran for the door at the other end of the stone hallway, her friends following her. When they made it to the heavy wooden door, Twilight Sparkle tried to push it open but she discovered it was locked. She pounded on it with her hooves. "Open up! Open up! You want the princess Megan to be killed or what?" There was no response.
Twilight Sparkle started to hit the door with her hammer, the tool barely leaving mere dents in it.
Rainbow Dash started to violently slash away at the door with her sword as wood chips sc

Overthinking MLP:FIM Season 2 Overview pt.1Overthinking MLP:FIM Season 2 Overview pt.13 years ago in Reviews & Guides More Like This
An Overthought Overview of MLP:FIM Season 2, the first half.
This is going to be a bit different than most of the other reviews, as I don't really have the skeleton of an episode to hang all of my observations on. So here's my plan to keep everything organized: I'll start by listing how the primary characters have been affected by focus in the new episodes, then go to trends indicating how the season as a whole seems to be going, and end with a general overview and stuff like best/worst/overrated/underrated episodes, etc. Hopefully this will turn out well.
Character Focus in Season 2
The way the different characters have been utilized thus far in the season is obviously going to influence how they're perceived between this season and the first season. Some of them have really benefited from the increased screentime and utilization, some have fared...less well. I'll start with the ones that benefited most and move on from there.
