The Pelican is still around!!!!It took a couple of friends and me about 3 hours to delete all the images from my gallery. There are a few left, but no nudes.
I will keep an account here on DA and pop in occasionally to see what's going on but for the most part, I am moving on. It had become increasingly obvious to me that this is not the site I should be on. I have been looking at the front page of DA for 5 years now and wondering why I am here.
Anyway - I've blabbed enough about that topic. If you look at my last journal, you'll get the idea.
Here is where you can find me these days AND you can see ALL the nudes I had here on DA plus a bunch of new ones AND more coming. I just did another shoot with Scar last night, so there are some cool images from that shoot! I'll give you a hint "Fire chandelier!"
Also check me out on Google+
You'll find all the nudes I had here and MORE!!! You will have to send me a friend request. I like that because i
Crossing the LineAlmost 99.9999% of the comments I get on DA are very nice and complimentary. For this I am grateful and appreciative. I also appreciate the occasional criticism that suggests I try a different crop, color, or lens choice. Even after 35 years I feel it is vital to listen to all the input I get because there are occasional jewels of ideas that come from learned professionals and beginning amateurs alike. Sometimes I even like it more when someone who is new to photography makes suggestions because they aren't stifled by the "rules" we all learn when we start out.Crossing the Line2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Recently, I've had a few people say some interesting and absurd things. These comments are related to my having taken down my gallery of nudes. First of all, let me say, my motive for this action was simply time management. I run a business so I don't have time to respond to all the comments or even read them all.
The suggestion has been made that by me removing the nudes, by responding to horrid comments then hiding and blockin
BEFORE WATCHMEN & AH!Well, the word is out: DC Comics is returning to the world of WATCHMEN! And I am drawing all four issues of the DOCTOR MANHATTAN miniseries. First sign of the Apocalypse? You bet!BEFORE WATCHMEN & AH!2 years ago in Personal More Like This
It's great to finally be able to talk about this project. I signed on AGES ago, and have kept mum about it, until now!
WATCHMEN is arguably the greatest superhero comic ever produced, and without a doubt my absolute favorite. Being allowed to draw these amazing characters isn't actually a dream come true: I never thought something like this would happen. I'm pretty nervous, but having fun so far.
My history with WATCHMEN goes way back. In 1986 I was working at Thunder Road Comics in Burlington, New Jersey, and I sold every issue of WATCHMEN as they came out. It was a pretty amazing time: THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS was also shipping, so superhero comics were enjoying a banner year. The mullets, parachute pants, and
Everything is Beautiful...NOT!In the 1960s, Ray Stevens wrote a song titled "Everything Is Beautiful" and it won him a grammy. Perhaps it was the idealism of those times or maybe a personal philosophy that gave birth to this song. It starts out with children singing "Jesus Loves the Little Children", a song I remember singing in church when I was a child.Everything is Beautiful...NOT!2 years ago in Personal More Like This
"Jesus loves the little children
All the children of the world
Red and yellow, black and white
They are precious in His sight
Jesus loves the little children of the world"
Like Disney's "It's a Small World", this song has a worm like infectious tune that rolls around in your brain like a marble in a barrel. A child, once he has learned this song, will hum it, whistle it, and sing it until adult ears bleed. Not only is the tune contagious, the lyrics are ideal and Pollyanna to the point of near myopic blindness.
After one chorus of "Jesus Loves the Little Children", Mr. Stevens' song moves into his "Everything Is Beautiful, in It's Own Way" mantra.
The notion he pu
I HATE THIS GUY. Seriously. I quit, LOL.I discovered Kim Jung Gi during my years living in South Korea when I came across his first sketchbook in '09. It was a blue and red bible of non-stop art. it made me cry. SEEING him do what he does, however, makes me contemplating giving up art altogether, lol. T________T #SoGoodI HATE THIS GUY. Seriously. TO YOU ASPIRING ARTISTS...Someone just linked me to this image (even featured my artbook cover in it) this morning and I thought it spoke to what i've dealt with my entire career.TO YOU ASPIRING ARTISTS...4 months ago in Personal More Like This
Try to embrace what makes you different, even if it makes others uncomfortable.
Today, I am HeartbrokenThis past week our nation witnessed one of the most horrific violations in history. A beast that I refuse to name, planned and then killed 12 people in a theatre in Colorado. I won't go into details of how, why, or who committed this atrocity.Today, I am Heartbroken2 years ago in Personal More Like This
What I WILL address is the idea of our Constitutional "right to bear arms". The misconstrued perception of this "right", saddens and confuses me. The archaic belief that having a gun in our houses will enable us to "defend ourselves" is not only statistically improbable, it is metaphorically AND literally unsettling to those who live with us. A loaded gun in a house says,"I don't trust people", "I am afraid someone will break in and hurt us", and also "I am willing to shoot to kill another human being".
If you have a gun in your house and it is NOT loaded, the statistical probability of you being able to get to it, load it, and confront a home invader AND for the outcome of that confrontation to be positive in ANY way, is insignificantly small.
Apparently there's Drama on my page???Wow, so my tumblr followers told me about some drama going on my Archive Page for Raindrops.Apparently there's Drama on my page???7 months ago in Personal More Like This
A little amused but after checking I found that it was indeed true and a certain user ragequit on Raindrops due to the lack of updates. A couple of things I would like to address since I've been busy, I haven't checked DA in a while so I haven't been able to read all of the comments. SO!
1) This was really amusing to read on some level.
2) Thank you to everyone who defended me.
3) Sorry to those who agree
4) Thanks to the rest for understanding!
And most importantly!!! I mentioned in the past that my average speed for writing Raindrops is usually one chapter per year. Usually because life gets in the way like... work, and friends, and other interests. And just because I don't get to Raindrops doesn't mean that I've abandoned it. It just means that I haven't gotten to it. In fact, I've spent the last several weekends writing and rewriting the script for Chapter 8 (which is like the longest chapt
I'm changing my name. That's right. I'm changing my DA name.I'm changing my name.2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I've thought long and hard and have decided to change it toooooo.......
That's right; i'm one of the few artists here on DA that seems content with my name. That; and I think changing a "brand" simply because you can, after you've spent time and energy building up an audience is f**king stupid.
I've been here for years. I've operated on the internet under "jollyjack" for longer. If I changed that now it would be monumentally confusing to people that follow my work, which, in turn, would have an effect on revenue.
There are a ton of artists here whose work I keenly follow, and I think they're kinda shooting themselves in the foot by doing this.
Kinda reminds be of those little label-making things everyone's been given on at least one Christmas as a kid: you unwrap it, you find out what it does and you spend the rest of the day punching out new tags for everything. Even if they'
The Feels "Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded." James 4:8 (KJV)The Feels9 months ago in Personal More Like This
You can feel peace, but peace is not a feeling. You can feel love, but love is not a feeling. You can feel anointed, but the anointing is not a feeling. It just is. The peace of God just is. The love of God just is. His power and anointing on your life just is. When you can't feel it, know that it hasn't gone anywhere. It is there and is always accessible to you through Jesus. Don't get caught up in feelings. Move on to being confident and resting assured that you are who God says you are. Period. He lives in you. Period. When you take feelings out of the equation, you're growing into someone that is truly learning to live by faith, and it is faith that pleases God.
Prayer: Father, I receive Your peace and love by faith. It's always available for me to receive at any moment and at any time. I receive strength now
Yay for American Independence. No, really! An odd statement for a quasi-neo-imperialist to say, I know, but if the Colonials hadn't (justifiably) got shirty over lack of representation in Parliament, the British Empire would never have become the behemoth that it did.Yay for American Independence. No, really!10 months ago in Personal More Like This
Thanks to the rebellion/revolution, the British Government changed the way it conducted itself so as to ensure such an incident would never happen again.
Had they not, a revolution similar to that seen in France, 1789, would have very likely occurred on home turf.
The French leadership maintained their "all powerful" façade, and in assisting the American colonies, spent a fortune. This further angered their already irate people, who, in seeing that it could be done, decided to have a little revolution of their own.
So, with the economy booming thanks to renewed transatlantic trade between Fair Blighty and the newly formed United States and with Britain's arch enemy France focused on tearing itself apart, there was nothing to stop the Empire's expansion.

World War 3 may just be months away, with much of the middle east currently being blown apart by missiles and the locals setting their neighbours on fire, but the real news is that the Twinkie, the USA's primary contribution to world cuisine, could cease to be.
"You eat those?" I hear people ask. Hell no. Never eaten one in my life. There's something about their unnatural, chemical-yellow colour and that they have a half-life rather than a use-by date that just sets off one too many alarm-bells.
In fact, I'm pretty sure that if you read the print on the pack, you'll find asbestos to be a key ingredient.
Even John McClane can't keep one down, and he took out a building full of terrorists with nothing but his bare feet and a Santa hat.
Which leads to my point: Without the Twinkie, there are SO many lines from SO many classic movies that future generations just a
