"Oh no. No way. That's something I don't get mixed up in," Twilight Sparkle informed Rainbow Dash matter-of-factly, shaking her head. Her horn glowed faintly as she levitated a book out of the shelf she was searching and floated it in midair in front of her. She trotted across the library floor past Rainbow Dash, who was standing in the middle of the room, and set the book down on a reading stand.
"Huh? Why not?" Rainbow Dash asked, turning in place to follow Twilight Sparkle as she moved. "It seems too important not to do, if you can."
"Believe me, Rainbow, there's things I want to know. You don't know how bad it w

Twilight arrived in the waiting area of the hospital, breathing heavily and now feeling pearls of sweat on her brow. Spike was still clinging to her neck after holding on for dear life. Her friends were already there; Applejack and Rarity stood up as soon as they saw her. "What happened?" she asked into the group while her mind continued coming up with ever worse scenarios.
"We don't know," Applejack said.
"They wouldn't tell us anything," Rarity continued.
Twilight looked at the other two ponies in the group. Fluttershy was still sitting on the bench at the other end of the room with Pinkie Pie next to her, comforting the nearly crying pegasus. It was early morning and they had all been called to the hospital with the message that something had happened to Rainbow Dash, but it did not mention anything specifi

It was the evening of the third weekend after Rainbow Dash's accident. Twilight was in her living room, which also served as the central room of the library, making some last minute preparations for today's treatment. She had taken the table out of the kitchen and into the living room between the fireplace and the couch. On it were now standing two small bottles of the energy drink that had worked quite well for her during her breaks and for Dash to regain some energy and lose the soreness in her muscles. She opened one bottle and poured the liquid into a glass with a straw in it, standing close to the edge until it was about half full and put the bottle back next to the other.
She went back into the kitchen and began making daisy sandwiches for her and Dash. Once finished with them she trotted over to the fre

Octavia groaned as she lifted her head off her pillow. It was the night after the Gala, and Octavia had been playing her double bass all night, virtually without break. Virtually. There had been several interruptions of her performance; however, she could not remember what exactly happened yet. She could not remember why she could not remember, until she winced in pain as her head throbbed. It all started coming back to her.
The Gala had begun like it always had; posh ponies from all over Equestria flocked to socialise. Though, not all of them were quite as posh. As that night was drawing to a close, a pink earth pony had walked in and subsequently began to dance around like a lunatic, and jump onto stage where Octavia played. She did her best to continue playing as this annoying pony continued her misdemeanours throughout the crowd.
By now she could tell that this Gala was not going to

The bulky brown Pegasus slammed his front hooves down on the desk so hard, Ditzy Doo feared it would split in two. He positively glowered at the grey pegasus, his face just inches from hers.
"I I'm sorry, boss " Ditzy mumbled, shrinking back a bit. "Uh it won't happen again?" Her apology was phrased more like a question.
"Oh, right. Sure. That's believable " the larger pegasus snorted, twisting his black baseball cap haphazardly. "I mean, what are the odds of Ditzy Doo screwing up another delivery? I mean, that never happens..."
Ditzy winced at the harsh sarcasm in her superior's voice. Still, she managed to work up the nerve to ask the inevitable question.
"So " she began, trying her best to focus both her eyes on the angry pony in front of her. " Um how much are you gonna' dock my pay this time?"
Allegrezza - Part One+Octavia fidgeted backstage, ensuring her mane was in perfect form, her cello tuned, and that her bow wasn't frayed or missing any strings. Her equipment was perfect, and as she strode out onto the stage, cello in one hoof, bow in the other, she felt pleased that her performance would match her instrument's perfection as well.Allegrezza - Part One+4 years ago in Short Stories More Like This
Carefully, she set down the cello, resting it by the long spike that protruded from its bottom. She stood on her hind legs, a delicate and graceful synergy as she and her cello used each other for balance. Finally, she raised the bow to the strings, and began to play. The sweet melody of Beethoofen's Sixth filled the hall. It was a grand theatre that she often packed to the rafters, tonight being no exception. Octavia was extraordinarily professional, there were no tears of emotion as she played, not like other ponies she had met, a certain mint-green lyrist sprang to mind on that train of thought. No, she simply played the notes with her trademark poise and preci

A knock on the door. Twilight looked up from her book, got to her hooves and walked over to it. Opening it she was greeted by the most nervous pegasus she had ever witnessed. "Uhm, hi, Rainbow."
Dash turned her head towards her as if surprised by Twilight's sudden appearance. "Oh, er, hi Twilight." Twilight raised her eyebrow as she noticed Dash staring at her mouth of all things and biting her own lip as if being in a mental struggle over whether or not to do something.
However, no action came from her friend. After a while Twilight realized that nothing was likely to happen and decided to invite Dash inside. "Do you want to come in?"
Dash did not move her eyes and merely gave her a "mhm" and a barely noticeable nod.
Twilight stepped back and gave her friend some space to step inside and closed

As you all know, Fall Weather Friends should come before Winter Wrap-Up.
There are many concerns about episode chronology when considering season one as a whole. There are a bunch of monsters at the start of the season, while the CMC take over during the second half. The first half is pretty AJ/RD/PP heavy, while the last half is overloaded with Rarity and Fluttershy. The Gala episode has an Everyone Laughs ending, but to me it feels tacked on and anti-climactic, and doesn't work as a season finale as well as Cutie Mark Crusaders would. (S2 update: we now know the Discord episodes were produced as the season/series finale.)
If we take the air order as the chronological order:
episodes 1-10 summer/fall, year 1000 of the Summer Sun Celebration
11 Winter Wrap-Up 1001
12 Call Of The Cutie 1001
13 Fall Weather Friends 1001
14-26: spring/summer 1002
This means the mane 6 got their tickets right after saving Equestria from Nightmare Moon, then 1 3/4

The night air was cool on this late-winter evening. Though it was only seven p.m. the sun had already set, and a blanket of dark had covered the town of Ponyville.
Derpy hooves hovered unsteadily down the street, both of her wings failing to maintain any practical rhythm with the other. This generally caused her to fly diagonally in either direction; she would often switch the direction at random times without precise control.
The Pegasus could in fact fly quite gracefully. For some reason she felt it necessary to do otherwise.
Woozy bats, she had once reasoned, woozy bats like bulls stubborn. Such was the sort of logic she used to contemplate most things.
In the corner of her vision she noticed movement. She looked in the direction of said movement to find a group of birds. "Ants!" She called at them. "Eggs all scrambled and gravel from sand!"
When the flock hit the center of her vision the flock seemed to dissipate. Every time she ever saw a flock of birds they always looked

Anypony, that is, save for a certain grey pegasus, who was slowly being consumed by her own anxiety.
Ditzy trudged silently toward the front doors of Equestria Speedy Shipping Services. She opted not to fly for once; her distracted state of mind combined with her already poor vision had led her to several aerial accidents this morning alone, leading to a few hundred bits of property damage, and a splitting headache for the pegasus.
Ditzy couldn't understand what was holding her back anymore; a whole month had passed since Breeze had visited for dinner, yet the mare still hadn't told Dinky the truth about her job.

"Hey, Rainbow Dash!"
Dash heard a recognizable voice call out to her. She was in the middle of napping on a cloud after a hard day's work. Blinking her eyes, she tossed off the last moments of her relaxed break. She stood on the cloud, stretching her back and wings with a loud yawn. Finally, she moved to the edge of the cloud, looking down to see Scootaloo standing below, waiting in anticipation.
"Hey, Scoot," Rainbow Dash said, her voice still sounding tired from her rest. "What's up?"
Scootaloo eagerly bounced from the ground. "School's out! I came as fast as I could, since I didn't want to keep you waiting!" The orange pegasus filly sounded extremely excited. She was smiling ear to ear, flapping her small wings a bit as she hopped in place.
Rainbow Dash then remembered how she promised to give the filly a few lessons in flying today. "All right," the older pegasus replied. Though a little irritated that she was disturbed during her nap, she had made a promise, and was always loyal t

Rarity inhaled deeply, letting the pleasant aroma of her drink fill her nostrils. The snifter glass gently shifted about, buoyed by her magical aura, and its burgundy contents swirled along the transparent walls. She tipped the glass to her lips, gracefully sipping its contents in a way that only years of cultured drinking could imbue. A satisfied smile crossed her lips as the cognac warmed her throat as it drained to her stomach. She was almost finished with her third glass of the night, which would put her just at her tolerance level for this particular beverage; such a shame that her friends didn't know their own tolerances.
At that thought, she looked about the bar from her seat in the corner booth. While she wasn't the type to normally socialize in such establishments, this bar was cultured enough for her tastes, being well designed, well built, and having a satisfactory selection of
To Be An AlicornSweet Apple Acres was a busy place in the spring. Two young stallions walked the fields with plows in tow, while a mailpony dragged in shipments of seeds and tools, and a couple more ponies were visible amonst the apple trees. Adding to the general bustle was a visitor to the farm who gingerly stepped out of the sky, looked around, and opened the gate into the main homestead area. A filly, not quite yet a mare, with a light green coat and straw-colored hair and baskets strapped to her saddle had been trotting through the area, and noticed the visitor first. The butter colored pegasus sank lower in the water she was soaking in, not wanting to even acknowledge hearing the concerned questioning from her best friend. The idea of a nice hot bath had been a wonderful suggestion at first. With added bath salts and oils, Fluttershy felt the tension leaving her body as soon as she was immersed, the knots in her stomach unwinding themselves. She relaxed with her eyes closed and inhaled the fresh scents of vanilla and cotton, and for a little while she was at peace.
When the water began to cool the knots started reforming. The lost tension came creeping back in with every second that ticked by. Eventually she was right back where she started and when Rarity came in to see as much, the white unicorn looked at her with humor laced sympathy.
"You do realize you can't simply stay in there forever, right? How you haven't withered away into nothing more than a prune by now

Mounting entries on her to-do list coupled with a draining amount of time in which to attend to them had made Octavia somewhat irritable. The night of the Gala was upon them, and she was expected to be in attendance with her ensemble in no less than an hour. As such, it was very much to her chagrin that she discovered Vinyl asleep on the bed, where she should have already begun changing into her outfit.
A burst of sharp jabs to the stomach remedied the situation, and Vinyl's bleary eyes were met with the sight of a rather indignant Octavia bearing down on her.
"Vinyl, are you asleep?!"
A brief respite was given from the intent glare, as Vinyl's hooves shakily rubbed her eyes.
"Yeah...I was, what's up?"
Octavia practically cuffed Vinyl to her hooves, her benevolence somewhat lessened by copious amounts of stress, and an impatient cart driver waiting outside to bear them away to the palace.

New LifeApplejack was certain that Big Macintosh was going to make a ditch in the floor with all the pacing he was doing. He'd been doing nothing but pace for the past hour, an extremely nervous look on his face and chewing his wheat sprig to practically nothing, casting glances at the maternity ward door. She'd tried to calm him down, but he acted like she wasn't even there. Applejack sighed and settled back in her seat, gazing at her fellows in the hospital's waiting room. Pinkie Pie had tons of blue and pink balloons and blue and pink stuffed animals declaring 'It's a Colt!' or 'It's a Filly!' eagerly awaiting her cue to begin celebrating the birth that was happening on the other side of the door. A Different Tune Chapter 1The first day of school. A troubling time for many a colt or filly, finding out who had moved away, who was still around, who was to be in their class and who would part ways. There was the matter of supplies: paper, pencils, pens, folders, notebooks, rulers, protractors... the list seemed designed so that for the first few weeks there'd always be some poor soul who'd have to tell the teacher what they'd forgotten while the rest of class withdrew their required item from stuffed saddlebags. Students showed off new shoes, saddlebags and lunchbags, gossiped about which teacher gave the most homework and which one showed movies, and complained at the ever growing size of their textbooks.A Different Tune Chapter 14 years ago in Introductions & Chapters More Like This

"Are you feeling better, Twilight Sparkle?" the Princess of the night asked.
"A little bit, Princess, thank you," Twilight allowed, taking a long sip from her glass of water before softly setting it back on the table.
At a glance, it appeared little had changed in the appearance of the group in the twenty minutes since Princess Luna had finished relating Twilight's mishap from the night before. However, closer inspection would reveal an empty plate that once held a sandwich in front of Big Macintosh and bowls of salad ranging from partially eaten to just a few leaves remaining at Fluttershy, Rarity, and Luna's places. As for the others, they had opted for refills for their glasses of water, except for Pinkie, whose face remained submerged in her bowl. Twilight was convinced that the pink pony was somehow breathing through her ears.
"So who wants to go next and tell us their side of what happened last night?" Twilight asked.

Night had fallen across Equestria and the full moon had risen. While most of Ponyville was off celebrating the Apple family's victory over the Flim Flam Brothers and their cider-making machine, one lone red stallion was still on the farm. Big Macintosh was one the kind of pony that didn't rest until everything was done for the day, and after the challenge from the Flim Flam Brothers, a part of Sweet Apple Acres was quite a mess. He had to first dispose of the bad cider that was made. He then from there had to break down all of the barrels that held the cider down into nothing but planks of wood since they could not hold any cider without the awful taste of the bad cider. It was time consuming work and took him until late to finish the task. Even after that, he still had more work to do, cleaning up the mess made by the machine. Twigs, bad apples, and leaves were in a pile where the machine once stood and empt

Twilight lay awake in her bed, staring at the ceiling. Her clock read 3:00 AM, but sleep still evaded her. A mysterious longing kept her mind from any peace, especially when she ran her arm across the side of her bed, which was empty. She recognized the longing as loneliness, but didn't know why it haunted her.

And there's nowhere in the world I'd rather be

Rainbow kicked off from the ground, pushing upward toward the clouds. Thick raindrops pelted her face, forcing her eyes closed. Her wings begged her to let them rest, but she pushed on, regardless. Just before she reached the clouds, a sudden gust shoved her back toward the earth. She flailed wildly, desperately trying to gain control of herself. A solid wall of rain blinded her as she fought to regain control of her descent. Extending her wings at the last moment, she managed to level out

Big Macintosh and Twilight Sparkle were on a hill outside of Ponyville, sitting on top of a blanket with Twilight's telescope set up nearby. A small lantern nearby provided them a little light, just enough to illuminate a book Twilight had about stars. They were doing one of Twilight's (and his, actually) favorite things: star-gazing. She had heard there was going to be a meteor shower that night, and wanted to be sure to catch it.
"And that one up there's Ursa Minor," Twilight Sparkle pointed up at the constellation, stars twinkling and shining all around it. The unicorn's eyes were looking up at the sky, as bright as the stars she was looking at. The smile she got whenever she spotted another constellation or another shooting star, so full of awe, would make the big red stallion smile as well.
