On The Subject of LabelsOne of the recurring comments given in my previous journal was "Why do we need to label ourselves at all?", or words to that effect. There are many of you who believe NO-ONE needs a label. On The Subject of Labels2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I both agree and disagree.
I agree, because I think you're right that we don't need to define to ourselves what we are by putting a label on it. I shouldn't say to myself "I'm gay. Therefore, I only am attracted to women." I think that if, in your head, you have a defined, labelled view of what you are, you start conforming yourself around that label. I'm sure many of you have heard stories of men and women who came out, then later admitted to feeling pressured into staying gay because they'd defined themselves as such to so many people. Conforming yourself around a social definition like that cannot be healthy.
But at the same time, I disagree against the idea that we don't need labels in this world at all. We do need them... we just don't need to place extensive mean
Sexuality Polls?WARNING FOR THE RAMBLINGS OF A TIRED, ILL PERSON!Sexuality Polls?2 years ago in Personal More Like This
So, you may wonder why I made the polls about sexuality.
From the age of 12 to 16, I was straight. I was always straight, and always going to be straight. I only dated guys, and that was the way it was stuck in my head.
Then at 16, things started changing. I was in a relationship, but I also found myself attracted to girls. In appearance, especially, I found females more appealing than males.
At around 18 or 19, my attraction to men started fading entirely, replaced purely by an interest in women.
At 20, I ended my straight relationship to be with Jenn. By this point, I only found women attractive.
Now I'm 24, and once again, I'm on the fence. I find both men and women attractive visually, but I'm not SEXUALLY attracted to any of them. The only person I honestly find sexually attractive is Jenn. She's female, so I suppose that labels me as a lesbian, as I am quite literally only attracted to females.
But what if, in another world, Jenn
Kony 2012 (update)((please scroll down for the update))Kony 2012 (update)2 years ago in Personal More Like This
A few people messaged me regarding this. Tonight, I finally got around to watching the video, and I felt I had a moral obligation to spread the word myself.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y4MnpzG5Sqc Everyone should watch this, and everyone should share this.
Until now, I'd never heard of this man. For over 20 years, he has been snatching African children from their homes, turning the boys into soldiers and the girls into sex slaves. He forces them to kill their own parents, and turns them into his own personal army.
To this day, he hasn't been captured. Most of the world don't even know his name. Until tonight, I was one of them.
Please spend 30 minutes of your time to watch this, and spread the word. If we could only remove a single evil individual from the world in our lifetime, this guy would likely be top of my list.
The internet is one of the single most powerful tools that mankind has ever had, as an international community.
Four Years AgoFour years ago, something happened that completely changed the course of my life in a very real, very noticeable way.Four Years Ago2 years ago in Personal More Like This
On the 19th of January 2008, I hadn't really intended to do anything to make my life change so drastically. There was no plan, no preconception, nothing. Things just happened the way they happened, and I wouldn't change it for the world.
On the night of the 19th of January 2008, tealpirate and I started going out.
From that day on, my life was changed. I'd gone from a previously unhappy relationship to one I now was full of hope, excitement and expectation. My previous relationship had me feeling worn out, disillusioned and unhappy by three years or so into the relationship, yet with Jenn, I'm four years in, and still as crazily in love as the day I met her.
So, here's to you, Jenn, and the four fabulous years of life you have already gifted me with. I hope to continue them for as long as I live, and can only hope to bring you the same measure of happiness that you
British HumourToday, I wrote out a post of about 1,000 words or so about why people get offended by British humour, but shouldn't. I then deleted it. Why?British Humour2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Because I realised that in talking about the nature of British humour, and why we're able to happily joke about things like celebrity deaths, racism, sexism, tragedies like 9/11, wars etc. ... I'd end up having people getting upset because I've offended them.
I've saved myself the hassle of this by deleting the post.
All I will say is that, if you can't handle Shock Humour, then you should always be wary of watching any form of British comedy. It's part of our comedic culture.
Otherwise, just accept that you might be offended, and when you are....stop reading, close the video, or change the channel. It's that easy.
"Being offended is part of being in the real world."

Now, there have been criticisms not of the need to stop Kony, but of the Invisible Children organisation who have led this campaign. These criticisms primarily regard the organisations finances and military support. You can read these concerns here:
In the interests of fair representation, I today saw a response from the Invisible Children organisation, linked in a BBC article.

Some people complain about him because he hasn't kept every single one of his election pledges.
People dislike the man for a variety of reasons.
I think he's amazing.
Because he is pro-Equal Rights.
This journal is for nothing more than to say how happy I am that, finally, a president of the United States has boldly stepped forward and declared his support for same-sex marriages. He could have easily avoided this issue until after the election race was over, but he made the decision to be up-front and honest in advance. I respect that in a politician so very, very much.
So thank you, Obama. I sincerely hope people listen to you, and learn what it truly means to treat your fellow man as "equal".

The Value of Good WritingWe all typo. The Value of Good Writing2 years ago in Personal More Like This
There are all words we don't know how to spell, or have a habit of spelling incorrectly.
We all create grammatical errors.
These things I accept. I like to think I'm quite a good writer, but I still fall into these mistakes as well. However, I try to keep all my written pieces and correspondences as well-written as possible. Why?
Because when I am confronted with someone elses writing, poorly written, with atrocious spelling, non-existent grammar and dreaded 'txt tlk', I instantly lose the desire to read it.
There - Their - They're
Your - You're
Accept - Except
Things like that also irritate me.
If you've ever written me a message or note in terrible use of English, and haven't received a reply... I'm probably ignoring it.
It's a pet peeve. Whether it's a justified peeve or not, I have no idea, but it's something that has always irritated me. I was part of the generation that didn't have mobile phones as a kid. People first started getting cell phones for personal use (bef

I haven't been logged on here in nearly a year. Whoops! I promised I would be back and do more awesome stuff, but I'm afraid those promises will have to fall short. So much has happened in the past almost-year that I won't be able to tell you without writing a book, so I'll do my best to sum it all up in a few sentences that probably won't give enough detail. Oh well!
Since I last logged in, I have gone through my final year of high school and am now graduated! I'm on to bigger and better things! Tomorrow I start college and will major in Digital Gaming and Media Design in a few years. I'm very excited, and nothing will stop me
Personal LibraryQuite a few times I've been asked what books I like and could I suggest any good reads. Well, here is a journal with some of my top authors and books for you to consider.Personal Library2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I will start by saying that my two favourite genres are historical and gothic horror. I do deleve into fantasy, but generally I will only read a fantasy novel if it's not set in modern times.
I also tend towards first person and will not read a book if the protagonist is female. So brace yourselves!
SALAMANDER by Thomas Wharton.
This is my favourite book and for many good reasons. It is set in an alternative Victorian era, and follows the life of a book maker called Nicolas as he travels around the world trying to make an infinite book. (A book with no end and no start).
The narrative is overly colourful and the author takes full advantage of the readers senses, especially that of smell and sight. The short narratives play like a cinematic reel in the mind.
Overall, it's a book about books which contains some very hea
Have NT created the Devil version of Twilight? This revelation came to me having read http://not-my-dante.deviantart.com/journal/New-Info-268701362 the last journal.Have NT created the Devil version of Twilight?2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Twilight trashed vampires for people that respected the genre for it's dark gritty mythology, the fact that Vampires could appear beautiful but their ultimate fear factor came from that. Vampires were hardcore nasties, they drank human blood, they stalked the night and they fed on the people that walked alone at night. They controlled the world from the background, they could influence mortal behaviour... they were scary.
Then along comes Twilight, fluffy, sparkly... pathetic. A whole generation of spineless idiots then get a wonderful reason to worship them too but for all the reasons that made a lot of people cringe. I do not want a vampire as a penpal, partner or general "mate" this seems ridiculous. But having said that some people put Stephenie Mayonaise above Stephen King as a horror writer (I cringed writing that btw)...

Marble, Granite, Bronze, Silver, Gold!
Early statuary depicted one’s god’s, and since the medium is
as much the message as the visual message itself – the medium had
to proclaim: This god is as forever lasting as this stone that His
rendering is hewn out of! But all that is solid eventually melts
away into the air, even the most powerful ancient gods and kings –
As the poet Shelley so poignantly noted in Ozymandias.
I met a traveller from an antique land
Who said: Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. Near them on the sand,
Half sunk, a shatter'd visage lies, whose frown
And wrinkled lip and sneer of cold command
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamp’d on these lifeless things,
The hand that mock’d them and the

bullyingEdit09-11-2011: since you brought so much attention to this journal let me add something from myself:bullying2 years ago in Personal More Like This
If you have ever been bullied, please don't keep the hurt, the rage, the bad feeling inside of you. TALK TO SOMEBODY! Tell them what happened. Share how you feel, it will help you find a way, it will help you realize you're not alone. No matter how ashamed you are, no matter what you think that people may say about it.
I know from expirience that victims always feel like they are the guilty ones and they shut up about it. But just share it with somebody, even if it's a friend over the internet, even if its on your facebook wall. The more you keep it inside, the more it grows, so set it free. And keep going with life, no matter how hard it is. One step at a time.
"A teacher in New York was teaching her class about bullying and gave them the following exercise to perform. She had the children take out a piece of paper and told them to crumple it up, stomp on it and really mess it up, not
