J. Paul Getty - The Liberation of Masterpieces as Open Content
The J. Paul Getty Museum has initiated an Open Content Program to share, freely and without restriction, as many of the Getty’s digital resources as possible.
A first sharing of 4,600 high-resolution images of the Museum’s collection, including many masterworks, has just been made available and all are free to use, modify, and publish for any purpose.
In a brilliant stroke, the Getty Museum has liberated one of the top collections of art in the world not just for access but for use. The museum is literally “beaming up” the great works in its collection as living resour

A New Wind Lifts Storytelling
First imagined as a bedtime tale for his son by Kenneth Grahame in 1908, The Wind in the Willows has remained in the top twenty children’s stories ever since. But things have been getting weird out in the Willows, as the new comic on deviantART, Weirding Willows, will attest to.
Badger, Mole, Ratty and Mr. Toad are back… but they’re joined by Alice, Frankenstein’s Monster, Mowgli, The White Rabbit, Peter Rabbit and Benjamin Bunny as they defend the world from the Wicked Witch of the West, Doctor Moreau, the Mad Hatter, Mister Hyde and the Queen of Hearts (not to mention the flying nightmare monkeys from Wizard of Oz.)

Adoptables, AuctionsWhat is an Adoptable Auction?Adoptables, Auctions3 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
An Adoptable Auction it's like a normal auction, with an adoptable on the plate and the highest point/money offer wins. These are not 'first come, first serve' adoptables.
Is it the same thing as a Name-Your-Price Adoptable?
Both can cause a bidding war, but no, they're not the same thing. Auctions are more organized and have more terms to them that the NYP Adopts. NYP Adopts usually have a price range and not a starting bid, they don't have an autobuy, nor a minimum bid raise and end when the Adoptable Creator feels like it.
Bid = Money/Point Offer
Starting Bid/Base Bid (SB) = The first and lowest bid you can make for the adoptable (usually decided by the Adoptable Creator)
Minimum Raise = The minimum amount of money/points that you need to add to a previous bid to beat it (usually decided by the Adoptable Creator)
Autobuy/Buyout (AB) = The price that you need to pay to be sure to get the adopta

I was inspired to create this series by naikki while looking through her gallery of diverse artwork and reading through her journals which are focused on her favorite inspiring writers and thinkers. I felt certain there must be beautiful artwork in the form of portraits and tributes to these writers and their stories. I found most of naikki's choices of quotes to be inclusionary, redeeming and welcoming to any artist on their own path. Instead of just crediting naikki with the inspiration for this new series on depthRADIUS, I also invited her to provide a quote about Herman Hesse of her own to kick off this series.

i want to make a journal about a situation which i had a few days ago.
one of my commissioners requested a chargeback from my paypal account...
her name on dA was Lunarium-Luna (her paypal address was email@example.com). she deactivated her account right after i noted her.
what is the worst thing? that she was really nice and lovely.
she always commented on my drawings and she was one of my supporters.
well... i have to learn from my mistakes.
i was too trustful.
i want to say please make sure that you've got the proof if you take a commission.
i know that she deceived more people on dA:
we try to fight about our money but i don't know if we can receive our money back.
paypal doesn't take care about the digital sellers because we don't sell the printed drawings.
i hope for the best but what i want to say is that you have to be more careful.
here's the list of characters she commissioned:

Well, a few days ago this guy was invited into a place where people have had bad lives and are trying to get back on their feet and we live in apartments where I've been set on moving out but anywho the story:
We have a nice guy living in a room that holds two people while I live in my own room, I pay rent for, it was my birthday so I was out and left my door unlocked since we worked together, well someone, who used to live on the street was invited to stay here and while I was gone he went through my laptop bag, looking for something he could sell where I couldn't get it back or recovered.
He didn't take my credit cards because he knew that I could turn those off, he didn't take the laptop which cost $1000 or my smart phone, instead he took my stun gun, where witnesses say they saw him trying to sell it for $5, a $60 dollar self defense weapon for $5! Now here's the kicker. Everyone in the house knew that I had anti theft on my machines, including my machines in storage. p

The chaptered comic strip, has been collected into a 100-page graphic novel – and to the still-uninitiated:
It is not quite like anything you’ve probably ever seen before. The story follows “Zee Captain” and his sidekicks as they amble through a post-apocalyptic landscape. And while that hardly seems new and different, it’s the unusually superlative graphic quality of the comic cells and the Monty Pythonesque dialogues and leaps of logic that can become quite mesmerizing. Zee Captain, his face hidden by a gas mask that gives him a Darth Vaderish look, wears what looks like a Soviet Red Army uniform from WWII, and the strip does have nourish WWII feel. It’s as if the nuclear holocaust on Hiroshima and Nagasaki had never ended and spread to every major city on Earth. But

Paypal has changed their layout, you can still send invoices but you can no longer select digital goods.
I haven't had time to really look into it and come up with a solution.
but you pretty much HAVE to send out something physical now if you want to be fully protected. There's still main points in this journal that describe how to go about that.
This Journal is currently Under Revision.
Points have been brought to my attention that have caused me to need to revise this journal.
I am still digging around on my free time to see if I can find a way around this. I will update daily.
Please note that this is specifically for Artists who use Paypal to sell digital goods.
OK, so there has been many artists being scammed lately through Paypal with large chargebacks. If you have been hit by a chargeback recently please feel free to note me and I will try my best to help

Rainmeter / Pileus Help, Set-up, & FAQSince I released the http://livinglightningrod.deviantart.com/art/P-I-L-E-U-S-Suite-148290753 (Pileus suite), many people have asked how to configure/edit/set up various parts. I am by no means an expert, and I'm sure there are a lot of smarter, better, more good-looking people who could answer these questions with brevity, wit, and savvy. Editing Your Gallery
After a brief hiatus for the crazy end of year chaos we’re finally back! Didja miss us?
There have been some recent changes to the user Gallery / Favourites system recently. These folders were updated to operate more like group galleries / favs. The new layout seems to be causing some confusion however so I thought I’d take a moment to go over a few different points.
Because of these changes you are now always in edit mode for your gallery/favs so long as you are logged in. Previously users needed to click an edit button before they could rearrange the thumbnails. With the update we’ve removed this unnecessary step so all you have to do is click&drag your thumbs into the order you want they to be displayed.
You can also select multiple thumbs by clicking and dragging your mouse over several thumbnails. Likewise, you can ctrl+click (command+click for you apple users) on individually separate thumbs to select them if they are
The Fractal Universe:icontechgnotic:The Fractal Universe4 years ago in Personal More Like This
Is a photograph only a record, something created by a machine? Can photography ever truly be considered art? That question seems quaint and laughable these days, but if you do a little research you will find that once upon a time it was a raging debate. Thankfully a consensus has been reached that the agency of the photographer – his or her eye and critical mind – choosing the subject and manipulating the machine (the camera that is the art instrument) is what establishes photographs as potential works of art when created by an artist-photographer. Pretty basic common sense, huh? So why then is there now a debate as to whether FRACTAL ART is truly art – or just something produced by poking patterns into a computer? Isn't it just really random e-graffiti, a fibonacci button mash?
Here we go again… Hopefully it won’t take nearly a century again before fractal art is recog

Brian stayed at Disney and he considers every day there a part of his ongoing education as an artist. He most recent
