Happy Friday! We'd like to announce the winners of the Art Collection contest from last month.
We tasked the #printscommunity to:
Decide on an original theme
You all have a sharp eye for amazing art, and you found such great pieces in the Fine Art Portion of the shop. And we know it wasn’t an easy task to narrow down all the awesome Prints you may have found within your theme!
Our top two curators both had an original theme, they selected compatible works related to their unique themes, and they found excellent rare Prints deserving of the spotlight!
The second-place winner, who will receive their own print as a Fine Art Print, is *LissaMonster.

People head to South by Southwest (SXSW) in search of that one thing that stops them in their tracks. At SXSW, attendees search for the next web sensation, the must-have app, and try to spot their favorite tech world celebrities. In the midst of all this activity, attendees look for something they’ll remember long after the convention is over. Rising to this challenge, deviantART created the #art_dAsh campaign, bringing live art to the streets of Austin while giving away Canvas Prints!
In the #art_dAsh experience, we took a ton of amazing Prints from deviantART artists and placed them on gallery walls set up all around Austin, TX. Once someone stumbled across it, they were free to take it by tweeting at the artist using #art_dAsh. Our Llamahog Has Been Found!After deviantART staffers spent the last 24 hours flailing through HQ and wringing their hands with worry over the whereabouts of missing Llamahog Gertrude Bicknevis III, he has just been found splashing about, without a care in the world, off the coast of Bora Bora with his first cousin, Llamafish H. Dawkins. Authorities believe the sudden disappearance of the Llamahog stemmed from an ill-planned attempt to spend Llamahog Day, quote, "Celebrating the way HE wanted to." My favourite medium is traditional art, but I would love to learn to colour on the computer properly one day (I'm not a very patient person). I tend to use Prisma colour pencil crayons the most to colour, trading them out once in a while for Crayola. I use Staedtler pigment liners for my lineart (usually .1 or .3) and gelly roll pens for shine.
I try to plan everything out before hand because I like to have an idea of what I'm doing. The picture doesn't always end up the way I planned
