Orion's Arm SynopsisOrion's Arm Synopsis2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Orion's Arm is a tightly plotted historical timeline approximately 1,400 years in duration. Currently stories and art exist for about the first 750 years. The artwork is based on a yet to be published collection of short stories and novels which taken together make up the Orion's Arm future history.
A Timeline Graph is to be found here: Timeline.
Timeline beginning point is the establishment of a private and independent Mars settlement; this takes place within 100 years of present day.
The history spans the maturing of an interplanetary civilization resulting from an effort to terraform Mars, and extends into an era when humans begin a migration outward from the solar system, spreading out, across, and into the local arm of the galaxy.

2D + 3D CommissionsHello, you arrived at my Commisions page2D + 3D Commissions3 years ago in Personal More Like This
If you are interested in getting a CGI image created for you, please continue to the section you are interested in. There are three sections:
2D section covers all kind of colored, shaded images, preferably drawn with outlines.
3D works is about polygonal objects of all kinds, textured and with some post-processing for nice looks.
Vector images refer to things drawn with hard lines and occasional shading, such as blueprints and ink-like drawings.
I do all kinds of art and I'm opened to different styles (vector drawings of a Star Wars ship, 3D render of a Stargate vehicle, blueprint for a Dune tank and of course every kind of original universe objects and scenes) so don't be afraid to ask for anything that you can think of.
You can also check examples of my commisioned work and private gallery works on the bottom of this entry.
I am looking forward to working with you and seeing a happy finish
Please note that preferably I acc

A pleasant poem by Alchestbreach :3'Twas the night before christmasA pleasant poem by Alchestbreach :33 years ago in Personal More Like This
And all through the house
Not a creature was stirring
Not even a HOLY SHIT RADROACH
The children were sleeping, the parent's were too
The smell of dried dog shit stuck to their shoes
When a clickity slam and a bingity bosh
Crashed onto the roof
"What's that? Oh my gosh!"
Cindy Don Dinkface and Timmy Ton Mace
Ran down to the living room with excitement on their face
And who stood near the fire, a man all in red
He turned around and smiled
"You're gonna wish you were dead."
He pulled out a rifle and pushed down his pants
"Get ready for christmas, now let's do this dance."
He pushed and he puffed and he spread christmas cheer
All over Cindy's face and Timmy's little ear
The parent's came running, what a horrible sound
But they only found the two curled up on the ground
And so santa escaped on his magic jetpack
"SUCK MY DICK YOU LOSERS NEXT YEAR I'LL BE BACK"
Invisibility and the end of EarthHello and welcome to the newest round of: random musings of an astrophysicist.Invisibility and the end of Earth2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Invisibility is a popular ability in science fiction and fantasy. There is magical invisibility via spells, potions or cloaks. And there is technologically achieved invisibility in many forms. But if we were to ask the laws of physics, what would actually happen if we did turn invisible?
First, there are two ways to achieve true invisibility. Either light goes through you without any contact, or it goes around you.
And that's the problem. If light doesn't interact with you, then how do you see? No light falls into your eyes either, so you are blind. An interaction always works both ways. The world is getting no visual information that you are there, and in turn you get no information about the world.
But it is worse. If you were to turn perfectly invisible right now, you would pretty much explode and the particles that made up your body would fall into the Earth like little ghosts.

A robot must obey orders given to it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

If you've ever read anything in your life, watched a movie or followed any sci-fi you were influenced by Asimov, even if you didn't know it.
Biochemist. Professor. Historian. Author. Pioneer. Even humorist. Asimov was a very prolific artist writing over 500 books, essays, short histories, scientific articles and even a spoof chemistry article which confused more than one. Asimov wrote 8 hours a day everyday, armed with nothing more than typewriters for most of his life.
Probably the biggest contributions of Isaac Asimov were to the field of sc

There was once a time when art depicting the lands west of the Appalachian Mountains as pristine wilderness awaiting exploration was censured by church and state as distracting from more important matters of the common pieties of home life. But there have always been those who need visions of grander realms for the journeys they can only dream of experiencing, but that may one day be rest stops on their great–great–grandchildren’s celestial road maps.

My deviantART StoryIt has now been over 10 years since I first decided to join deviantART and little did I know then, this decision would end up forging my entire life and career. My deviantART Story10 months ago in Personal More Like This
I wish I remembered exactly how it all started, but I'm going to go with my best guess and say I heard about it from another student when I started college back when I had just turned 18. Up until then I had been using various art forums such as wcreplays.com, animex.com, sijun.com and cgsociety.org so the discovery of a portfolio website was a pretty cool thing.
I started posting on here and got moderate attention, I had been drawing for a long time at that point so my art was in a state where it was at least interesting to look at. If anything it was a fantastic place to get inspiration and look at art from amazingly talented artists.
It wasn't until I decided to color the line-art for the following piece that everything really started.
The Effectiveness of SimplicityI like to draw and look at rather complex works of illustration. Perpectiveful pinnacles of technical achievement, etc. However, I watch a good number of artists who use simplicity to great effect. Whether it be representing more complex objects and figures as simpler forms, or just a philosophy of "less is more," I can easily be just as impressed (if not more so) with the understanding and implementation of simplicity as I get with more complex works. The Effectiveness of Simplicity2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Here's a short feature of some examples of works I've seen recently that got me good. Enjoy!
This work by radsechrist looks complex (such as the third image which I'll be talking about a bit here,) and to an extent it is -- however upon closer inspection, the actual details and construction is quite simplified, even crude. And it's fantastic. The artist shows such a vast understanding of how and where to place detail that matters,

Tutorials and techniquesQuite a lot of people keep asking me for tutorials and to be honest I see no point in creating yet another strip on how to paint skin/clothes/light/carrots/whatever. There are so many of them out there that it would be simply a waste of time to sit and basically copy what's already been told.Tutorials and techniques4 years ago in Personal More Like This
Instead, I've decided to make a compilation of different tutorials and charts that I personally use to learn how to paint.
The most important thing you need to learn even before starting to read a tutorial is that all walk-throughs are meant for you to understand how things work. My point is that after reading and later practicing a tutorial called 'how to paint a glass duck' you should be able to paint not only a glass duck but also anything else made of glass. You should concentrate on understanding the rules and patterns instead of trying to copy what you see on the image. Otherwise you'll end up knowing how to paint only a few things from only one perspective and one lightning pattern.

Many of you have been in this community for a long time, but whether you’ve just joined or you’ve been a member since day one, this is your first impression of the new DeviantArt.
Change is not something that we take lightly, because it affects our collective identity. It was important for us to define who we are and what we’re made of at our core before we changed anything. We all have our own understanding of what that means, but the process of getting that core story down on paper took almost a year.
The result is “Bleed and Breed Art.” This is our center of gravity and our reason for getting out of bed i

Cthulhu is Still Calling
Written By techgnotic
Having been thinking a lot about the origins of our globally held Dragon mythos in a recent article Reptilicus Infernicus, I couldn’t help but notice the Cthulhu legend was always lurking at the edges of my mind as I was researching the subject matter.
The Enemy at the Gates, the “Other”, forever lurking in the darkness and plotting an invasion most evil and an enslavement most hideous, is probably the original seminal “narrative” that was born when humans first acq
