Sam and Jay drifted to either side of the airlock door, Jay looked at the control panel, "their airlock won't pressurize; give me a few seconds."
The ambient sounds from the ship slowly faded to nothing until only his own breathing could be heard as the air was drained from the airlock. Jay looked at him and nodded; Sam took a good hold on the railing and put his free hand on his sidearm. It seemed terrible, but a panicked survivor could quickly put themselves and everyone around them in danger; far safer to incapacitate them. Jay worked the controls on the panel and the doors parted, one of the Abilene's door halves moved a few centimeters and stopped.
