My thoughts on ways to save money for the budget.Abortion and contraceptives can help reduce the deficit?
An opinion essay by PurplePhoneixStar.
America is in a deficit and we need to cut our spending on all fronts, we all know that. I support entitlement reform to make sure that everyone who needs it can get it and those who are faking because they are too lazy to work or they want narcotics for free. Looking at things from a logical cost cutting standpoint, you would think we would want to discourage people from having kids that can't afford it. Contraceptives and even abortions are cheaper than supporting a mother and child for years on a welfare program. The standard pill only costs about 15 dollars a month and condoms are around 3 dollars for a pack of 3. Say these methods fail, the average cost of an abortion ranges from 300-600 dollars. Until week 20, there is nothing any doctor could do to save the baby if it were born then anyway, so why would an abortion be murder if the baby were born and it would die
Why Not?I noticed this October that it is National Breast Cancer Awareness month. I notice this by seeing stores selling EVERYTHING pink. (Please do not think I am unsympathetic to people with breast cancer) While this notion is all well and good, as a person with epilepsy, I begin to think to myself, where is our month? I know it is November, and the color is purple but you don't see any of it or hear anything about it at all. You don't see purple colored kitchen tools, purple ribbons or fancy jewelry made to the tune of purple epilepsy awareness. Why is that? It is 2011 and we know so much about how the human body works, stigmas about epilepsy still exist. Why Not?2 years ago in Editorial More Like This
Why is it when millions of people worldwide, more than those with other more "Media-Friendly illnesses" like Breast Cancer MS and Parkinson's disease, that we are still no closer to a good cure than before? Why is it all we have is treatments that have horrible and life hindering side effects? Why is it no one is putting purple stickers on
DOma thoughtsOkay with the recent overturning of DOMA on the federal level, I have heard much on the desanctifcation of marriage and all I have to say is reread Matthew 7:3 "Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?DOma thoughts5 months ago in Editorial More Like This
How many shotgun marriages that end in divorce are there? How many wild impulses? How many people leave for petty reasons? Loads. SO don't say gays desanctified marriage because you already did it in heterosexual marriage. Marrying for money demeans it not to mention all other forms that are not on love and commitment to one another. So don't yell at gays without teaching your own community first. My quick words.
