LITESTEP!I HAVE FOUND YOU AGAIN IN THIS 64-BIT JUNGLE!!!!!!!! Oh how content I am to have litestep working on Win7.LITESTEP!6 years ago in Personal More Like This
Turns out all you really need to do is install LOSI 0.45 (or whatev the recent one is...) and then drag and drop the executable and .dll file in the 0.25 alpha build into the litestep directory. THEN (this is what I think was causing my woes) you need to download a little .exe file called setshell64: http://lsp.litestep.info/index.php?page=index;item=145
Voila! LS is working super now . Although I miss the windows 7 superbar and the fancy desktop fade (although if you get jdesk-0.75, you still get changing desktops, just not with the fancy fade effect).
I'm just happy that LS is working. Ahhhhhh I haven't had this much fun in a looooong time .
LiteStep and Windows 7 x64 : running them bothInstalling Litestep on Windows 7 x64LiteStep and Windows 7 x64 : running them both5 years ago in Personal More Like This
You need to download some required libraries in order for Litestep to run on
Windows. The libraries are called "Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables"
otherwise known as vcredist.exe. What you will need are the 2005, 2005 SP1,
2008, 2008 SP1 to run properly (it is what the Litestep installer will be looking for)
If you currently develop with Microsoft Visual Studio (Express, Web Developer),
whichever version, your libraries should already be in place; though checking
for updates is a good idea. For good reason, I also recommend looking for
"Sec ATL" updates, they contain patches and fixes for possible security flaws within
Microsoft's code source.
I know it sounds funny, but you need to get the x86 (32-bit) and the x64 (64-bit)
installers for this reason: The Litestep program is by default, 32-bit architecture,
however the 64-bit update package (0.25 Alpha and greater) will be a patch after
you install Litestep. The 32-bit libra

Once upon a time in midwinter, when the snowflakes were falling like feathers from heaven, a queen sat sewing at her window, which had a frame of black ebony wood. As she sewed she looked up at the snow and pricked her finger with her needle. Three drops of blood fell into the snow. The red on the white looked so beautiful that she thought to herself, "If only I had a child as white as snow, as red as blood, and as black as the wood in this frame."
A year later the king took himself another wife. She was a beautiful woman, but she was proud and arrogant, and she could not stand it if
Fear of CreativityA rather unfortunate, yet commonplace problem amongst creative minds is one of fear: fear of being creative, fear of making something that could be terrible, fear of rejection, fear of judgment, fear of failure. This root fear seems driven by every artist's desire to make great work. After all, that is why creative people createto build or define beauty as they see fit. So when inspiration strikes, there is both a drive to create and an element of fear holding back. The apparent duality of this situation is actually multifaceted.Fear of Creativity4 years ago in Personal More Like This
First, there is the general fear of failure. Nobody wants to fail, creatively or otherwise, even though great minds have shown us that failure is necessary for improvement. This fear of failure manifests itself as hesitation and self-doubt, ultimately causing procrastination or just a delayed start, or even destroying the urge to create altogether.
Secondly, the fear of judgment. Fearing what others might think of the work, fearing comments of negativity

As we began to examine the Emoticons category we quickly learned that we had a bit of a mess to clean up, but fortunately it's a very cute mess and very fun to think about.
As a category, Chat Friendly Emotes isn't going to cut it anymore. There are Emotes in it that come from various inspirations, meanwhile, a very clear culture that has formed around Emotes that deviantART specifically has always supported. The ones that are 15 x 15 pixels in size doing all wonders of things. Providing a category for this specific, and very popular style is a must and this would split those Emotes from intermingling with other sized, shaped and styled Emotes.
The thought was to make this style reside within the new category, "Chat Friendly PLZ" but let's discuss that! Changing a category name takes us a matter of seconds to do, so we would love your input on the final name for the category - home to the adorable

DeviantART'S 12th Birthday Gameshow: Starting soonDeviantART Birthday Gameshow is starting in just FIFTEEN MINUTES!DeviantART'S 12th Birthday Gameshow: Starting soon3 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
We're looking for game players to come and join in our deviantART Birthday Event! In just a short while 3wyl and myself are hosting an interpretation of a British game show called Pointless. The idea of the game is that you have to guess the least popular answer to a multiple answers question. You will be awarded points accordingly, those with the most points will win - but you will have used pointless answers to get there!
We'll have pre-judged the least popular and most popular answers by asking a panel of CVs beforehand for their responses. Want an example?
Name a Film Starring Tom Cruise
Okay so Mission Impossible is a really high answer and if you said that one, you'd get lots of points. Which isn't good! If you said Rain Man - you'd possibly be getting less points. But if you said something like Endless Love or Taps, then you'd be hitting on an answer tha

View it over at rainmeter.net.
Even your grandma will be able to create Rainmeter skin files now
I sincerely hope and suggest that skin authors take a look at that guide. If you have a question, leave a comment below.

The deviantART community is incredibly deep and diverse. Every day, amazing art is produced that appeals to all tastes. Our goal in sharing and exposing the deviations in deviantART's Popular section is to showcase this depth and diversity as convincingly and fairly as we can.
DeviantART's algorithm for Popular browse results is known as Fair Exposure. The goal is to maximize the display of the most popular deviations in a variety of topics (styles/genres/art forms). Fair Exposure increases the probability that someone will see something that they personally like in Popular results. In short, with Fair Exposure, the community is exposed to a varied cross-section of deviantART. It uses an algorithm that is "fair" in nature -- meaning not biased toward any topic, yet still based on popularity.

Recently, I announced changes to Daily Deviations in this journal and I'm happy to say that the response has been favorable. To review, we have made the following changes:
a> The "3-month rule" is now the "6-month rule" meaning an artist cannot receive another DD if they have had one in the last 6 months.
b> Daily Deviation selectors are limited to a maximum of one selection per day. This has been put in place to focus on quality vs quantity.
The hard-coding of these new guidelines is now in place (special thanks to ZombieCoder for that ).
These changes are part of an ongoing initiative to better our Dai
Message Center Performance Upgrades Message Center news to know!Message Center Performance Upgrades4 years ago in DeviantArt Announcements More Like This
Today we completed a three-month process of implementing performance upgrades to the Message Center. With these improvements in place, we're able to increase site speed and decrease the amount of errors deviants may experience in their Message Centers. Our Devious Technology and Tech Ops teams have been working hard to move Message Center data to its own dedicated database cluster. We made a considerable investment in servers with 96GB of memory and 12 CPU cores to handle 6 billion messages and 6500 queries per second.
What does this mean for you?
Absolutely nothing. We hope. The upgrades have already taken place and you shouldn't notice any change in your normal deviantART experience. Eventually, you should notice an increase in site speed and a decrease in Message Center errors.
If we do run into hiccups, you may experience slowness and possib
Decoration, Cake and Bombs:iconhellothereplz:Decoration, Cake and Bombs6 months ago in Personal More Like This
I used to only display art by others at home, but I finally printed a bunch of my own for decoration. ^^
Check out the humble beginning of this Paper Mario 64 wall by my bed:
Oh, look, it's Fiski. He's everywhere.
I have such a long way to go...
Should eventually cover the entire wall! That was the plan when I started the project, anyway. xD
Also tried decorating my desk with both art by others and myself:
If a lovely gift drawing from you isn't here yet, don't worry, I ran out of paper lol. Will be adding a lot more of them eventually. Received art is the happiest kind to look at. <3
Oh and I need more magnets for those too. I decided to use the magnetic board part for that mostly. ;w;
And sidser, I'll be digging out some of yours to display too of course... they're somewhere in a box under the table. xD

Lumi, a first previewHey ! :]Lumi, a first preview4 years ago in Personal More Like This
So I've made some new changes on Lumi, my future Visual Style for Windows 7. It will continue to change in some details, and it's certainly not over yet, different parts are still the one from Soft7.
Anyway here's the actual result :
White isn't it ? ^^
My main ideas were :
more "minimal", less transparent, and add a tiny color.
The window on top left is active, the others are inactive (mainly a difference in the shadow, but the windows themselves are a bit more transparent).
The "Yes" button is hovered, like the Music icons. The DVD drive is selected
I believe the caption buttons are too subtle right now, and I'm still trying to do a nice hover effect, subtle but visible.
It includes the new icons on the Navigation Pane, obviously based on the icons in Mac OS Lion, entirely made from scratch (all of them) with the subtle blue of the theme.
By the way, don't get it wrong, I hardly have time to play all t
