First Time Out
"Alenko! Wrex! Suit up and report to the Mako." Joker's voice is loud through the bay speakers. Of course I'm already suited up - no krogan would be caught without his armor. Across the bay I see the turian heave a sigh of relief. Then he looks at me and his left mandible twitches in a smirk. He's been whining like a baby after every trip planetside:
"I never knew Shepard hated us that much."
"I thought I was going to die!"
"Thank the Spirits for my helmet it muffles the screams."
"I'm thinking about letting my shooting take a nosedive. Maybe then she'll leave me back on the Normandy."
I actually hear him chuckling as we load into the Mako. Even Alenko doesn't gripe that much and he's a human. He is using the full harness rig, though, and I see him triple checking the buckles. He even straps on his helmet with the visor sealed. I see Shepard roll her eyes at him. "The atmosphere is earth normal, Kaidan," she mutters. He responds with a nod and a brief "ma'am" an

Three hours of fighting through a merc base followed by a bullet in the shoulder and another hour in the medbay does not make for the easiest day ever which is probably why Shepard fails to notice the little change in her quarters at first.
After a quick shower and change of uniform she's finally feeling human again and ready to check her private terminal for the latest mission briefings and new messages. As she sits, Kaidan's picture flickers to life next to her and she can't help turning to study it for a moment or two. She'd coerced Joker into retrieving the image from an old holovid, threatening him with decaf for a month if he told anyone about his little favor.
As she turns back to her terminal something catches her eye. She glances up at the glass display case that holds her model ships and then stops, staring, her mouth open in surprise.
"What the hell?" There, in her case, sitting astride her model of the first Normandy is... well... it's a small stuffed doll that bears more t

Kaidan strode quickly through the Citadel Markets headed toward Admiral Anderson's office on the Presidium level. He knew he was late for his debriefing and he could already hear Udina's snide remarks on Alliance efficiency. As he rounded a corner he saw her. For a moment he thought it was just one of the old vid ads, but then she turned toward him. He watched her lay a hand on Garrus's arm as she leaned closer to say something, and his heart lurched painfully in his chest. He hadn't seen her since Horizon. Not since he'd let his temper get the best of him. When he'd realized what he'd done, what he had said, he sent her the message. He'd poured out his heart to her, then waited in agony for a response. He felt like a teenager checking and re-checking his terminal. Promising himself he didn't expect a response then feeling his heart drop into his stomach when the only new messages were missives regarding non-classified Alliance matters.
Now here she was and he was frozen. He couldn't l

He'd heard Purgatory was a good bar, but he hadn't expected an out of body kind of experience. That was the only thing that could be happening, though. It was definitely the only way to explain why it sounded like Shepard was flirting with him. Commander Shepard, Hero of the Skyllian Blitz, Savior of the Citadel, the first human Spectre, and she was insinuating that she might be interested in him? No way. There was absolutely no way. He could hear a voice that sounded suspiciously like his mumbling something about how he'd never really thought about it. Well that was a fucking lie... He'd definitely thought about it. He'd thought about it a LOT. Hard not to when she was the only person who'd ever appreciated him for his abilities and not for what he could do despite his disease. He'd been well on the way to a pretty substantial crush back on the first Normandy and when he heard what Cerberus

Joker was biding his time. He knew it was unlikely he'd actually be able to lull Shepard into a false sense of security, but he wanted her at least a little off-balance before he made his next move. Plus, it gave him plenty of time to set his latest plan in motion. Fortunately his tech skills were slightly better than he let on and since Shepard's retaliation for the prank had been aimed solely at him, Kasumi was back on board to help out with the difficult bits - particularly since they were going to be able to get this little gem on the vid feed. He'd decided not to try any more pranks in her quarters, especially after her reaction to the last one. Well, unless it was just too good to pass up.
He noticed Shepard had started popping in on him during his shift like she expected to catch him monologuing or something. Then she'd just loiter in the cockpit. Like he wasn't going to recognize her usual strategy for gathering intel on anyone she couldn't just point a gun at. She just hang
