Count the shadows.
Evil comes in many degrees and packages.
Feel down? Don't use a "Bliss" patch.

Hospitals are bad; avoid whenever possible.
If you're confused about something, don't be afraid to ask questions; fear the answers.
Just smile and nod if the Doctor asks you something you don't understand.

As she brushed up to his side, the Doctor seemed to fall back up against the wall. River thrusted her arms around him, pushing her body into his own. "I can't wait any longer, Doctor," she moaned, "I must have you." The Doctor tried to protest, but something stopped him; a sort of giddy feeling inside him took over. She came in to hug him, causing him to shiver from the maddening emotions overpowering him. Her eyes locked onto his, as his did the same, and placed a soft hand on his cheek. The Doctor blushed madly, and could see that River's cheeks were doing the same as well. His hands and teeth clenched, he could hardly feel his legs, and almost thought he would fall over, but River had moved her arms wrapped around his waist. "River, what are you..." The Doctor was interrupted when River came in and kissed his neck. The Doctor quickly shut his eyes, the tickling sensation was too much, it was nearly unbearable. He wanted to giggle but kept quiet. Fingertips brushed across her shoulder. "I know you're awake," he whispered, his breath tickling her skin.
She smiled but kept her eyes closed. Only when he brushed kisses across her shoulder and neck did her eyes blink open slowly.
"Good morning, Rose."
She could see him now, longer brown hair flopping over his forehead, lanky body stretched out on her bed, a stupid grin plastered on his face. And that bow tie, well it suited him perfectly.
"How long have you been here?" she asked softly.
"Long enough. How long has he been gone?" His eyes were older.
"Four days. He comes back at the end of the week." Rose shifted onto her side so she could look at him better. "You didn't think he was dead, did you?"
He didn't answer.
After a while of silence, she asked, "How did you get here?"
"Crack in the universe. One of them came through to here." He shrugge

River was in her bath robe. The Doctor squinted at her, no, she was in Amy's bath robe. He felt his hearts squeeze, but also a wry smile lift his mouth. River would never own anything as dowdy as a threadbare fluffy pink bathrobe.
She was wearing her mother's robe. The Doctor's throat closed up. She was coming out of the bathroom, halfway down the hallway. Her hair had that extra bounciness it got just after she'd washed it, when it wasn't quite dry yet. And she was moving like an old woman, as if her very bones hurt.
He ran down the hall and scooped her up in a huge hug. She squeaked in surprise. His hearts were suddenly hurting, but not for the Ponds. For River. How could she think he'd care how old she got? Why would she think she needed to hide any injury or imperfection from him.
Didn't she understand how much he loved her?
"River." He hid his face in her curls, cool against his cheeks. He squeezed her as tightly

"In 900 years of time and space, I've never eaten a candy cane. Did you know that?" He handed her the untangled lights.
"What about Christmas at my mum's flat the year after we met?" Rose pointed out. She ducked under the wire and continued wrapping the lights around the tree.
"Not even then." He stopped her, wrapping his arms around her and pulling her close.
Rose giggled. "Your breath smells like peppermint."
"Do I taste like it too?" He leaned down for a kiss.
"Mmm, you do." She smiled. "I'll buy you your own box of candy canes for Christmas, alright?"
"Do I have to share?"
"Not if you don't want to. But come on, let's get this tree decorated or I promise you I will not buy you those candy canes." She kissed him again and ducked away.

"Find her. Find River Song."
That was when she knew.
As she was bent over the man she was bred to kill, her task fulfilled, that's when she knew that finding River Song was not going to be a physical search, a physical journey. She saw the earnest sadness in the Doctor's gentle green eyes as he looked into her, pleading. Find her. Find yourself. Find the woman you are, not what they made you to be.
"Tell her something."
Melody was afraid. Not because the Doctor would harm her, or be angry with her, but because she knew that once she heard those words from the Time Lord's lips there would be no more pretending that she and the River Song he loved so much were different people.
Because as long as she was Melody, she didn't care that he struggled to stand, to save his best friends in his last moments. She didn't care that as the seconds marched past they took his life with them. She didn't care that his hearts stuttered and struggled to beat. She didn't care that his lungs were unable to

Amy Pond sat in a space-age rocking chair in her white robe, holding her newborn baby close to her. She realized that these might be some of the few moments she'd spend with her baby, given the situation she was in.
"There's a man out there, he's called the Doctor," she whispered. "He's the most wonderful, insane, mad, ridiculous man He's a mad man with a box, he'd like to say," Amy giggled. He'd been standing like that, hands cuffed together in front of him, since the minute he woke up almost half an hour ago. "How are you doing, Rory?" the Doctor asked. He'd found the young father sitting in a stairwell in a remote part of the Tardis.
Amy was busy fixing sandwiches for lunch. It had been three days since they'd left River with the Sisters of the Infinite Schism, and gradually things were getting back to normal.
Except things weren't normal.
Rory was hunched up on the stairs, sitting crossways, he was smoothing something over and over and over on his knee. He didn't look up. The Doctor sat down beside him. He saw what the boy was holding was the prayer leaf from River's cradle.
Rory looked up, his face was wet and red, his eyes puffy. He glared at the Doctor with very old eyes. "I'm never going to see her again."
"Oh, she'll come looking for us," the Doctor waved airily, knowing full well that's not what he meant.

He sighed and dusted his hands off. Then stuck his hands in his pockets with satisfaction, pivoted on his heel and strode out along the boardwalk.
Late night tourists and holidaymakers still studded the ancient gray boards. Half the stalls had already extinguished their party lights and shut down for the night.
Things were thinning out. He stopped at a colorful stand and bought a swirly multicolored ice cream cone from a bored and impatient vendor.
He took a large handful of napkins and dropped an extra large denomination coin on the counter.
He strolled along the waterfront, napkins sticking out of his pocket in a wad. The three moons were nearly full, bathing the beach with a ghostly radiance. The sea shushed and slithered as the tid
