Without the extra day every 4 years, we would be in 2013.
As the Mayan Calendar doesn't take leap years into account; 2012 has been and gone.

I've thought long and hard and have decided to change it toooooo.......
That's right; i'm one of the few artists here on DA that seems content with my name. That; and I think changing a "brand" simply because you can, after you've spent time and energy building up an audience is f**king stupid.
I've been here for years. I've operated on the internet under "jollyjack" for longer. If I changed that now it would be monumentally confusing to people that follow my work, which, in turn, would have an effect on revenue.
There are a ton of artists here whose work I keenly follow, and I think they're kinda shooting themselves in the foot by doing this.
Kinda reminds be of those little label-making things everyone's been given on at least one Christmas as a kid: you unwrap it, you find out what it does and you spend the rest of the day punching out new tags for everything. Even if they'

Google Maps had a Wikipedia layer that brought up links to Wikipedia articles connected to the region you were surveying. It was a brilliant way to learn about locations you have not yet visited, or to delve into an area's history.
A week or so ago, and apparently with no warning, Google removed this function and have now been flooded with complaints.
Is it just me or are big name companies growing increasingly incapable of doing ANYTHING right?

And then I saw this……which didn't.
I can't articulate my sheer and utter loathing of people like that. They just make the world feel a little more bleak.

Tolkien was, undeniably, a genius, but, for the love of creativity and dynamism; read another f**king book, people.
There's a world of culture, history and myth out there to seek inspiration from! Fantasy should be an exciting, twisted reflection of the world around us, not an endless stream of pirated Lord of the Rings DVDs.
The Word of KurtzI was checking the "links" section of my website, just to make sure everything was still working as I hadn't actually clicked on anything there for a while, and I found myself on the PVP website. The Word of Kurtz3 years ago in Personal More Like This
"A while" was obviously "a few years". I barely recognised the strip!
Anyway; I'm not writing this to bitch about hating change (I'll save that and put it into Sequential Art), I'm writing this to relay a very good point the good Mr Kurtz made in the PVP blog:
"Everyone is kind of freaking out right now because of the Gary Friedrich case. Long story short, the guy who created Ghost Rider in 1972 sued Marvel, claiming that they never filed a copyright for his work and therefore he still owns Ghost Rider. Courts said "sit down before you fall down" and in addition slapped the guy with a $17,000 fine for selling tee shirts and posters featuring Mike Ploog Ghost Rider art at conventions.
People are considering this a warning salvo at artists who do sketches of Marvel and DC owned characters at

Say the word "Lynx" and it conjures imagery of lithe, feline predators.
What springs to mind when you say "Axe"?
Turtles Production Shut DownVICTORY!Turtles Production Shut Down3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Paramount has shut down pre-production on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot over "script problems".
Translation; Paramount realised that if they continued down the path Bay was going, fans would probably burn their studios to the ground.
With luck (and a dollop of common sense) the project will be shelved altogether and the IP left fallow until competent directors/producers are brought on board.

RetardA couple of people (literally only two, but it's a matter worth mentioning) emailed me after they had read the most recent Sequential Art strip, in which the fictitious element “Retardium” is mentioned. Both messages voiced disapproval at my using the word “Retard” due to its slang referencing of the mentally disabled.Retard1 year ago in Personal More Like This
That interpretation of the word, in my eyes, is outdated.
Used in describing a mentally disabled individual, “retard” is a slur, and (as with any slur) anyone who says it in that context deserves a sharp blow to the head. However, used to describe a “wilfully ignorant, able-bodied idiot”, I think “retard” is perfectly acceptable. I’ll wager that everyone reading this knows someone that can accurately be described as a "f**king retard", none of whom are disabled in the slightest, nor in using the word is a mentally disabled person even thought of.
I’ve not heard “retard” used to des

Firstly, I'm still down at school and my fams up north, so i'm pretty much alone for thanksgiving and my birthday. I'm alone but not lonely they're sending me wishes and all that.
I went to the store and yes, i purchased a cake....just for me. YES I BOUGHT MY OWN BIRTHDAY CAKE
I got a pretty cake with flowers.
Blue and yellow, vanilla and white icing.
Me and my roommate will share it and we will celebrate.
I will scribble on it "Happy birthday..Me"
It's not sad. Really. XD it's a grown up thing to do XD
I came back home from shopping. Got comfortable and began to work on my long procrastinated persuasive speech and then my LANDLORD SUDDENLY BURSTS IN THE ROOM.

Oh, not again....Argentina is getting frisky over the Falklands again. I've no idea if it's just political bluster; a box for the Argentinean leadership to stand upon and rant about so that they can look strong in front of their people, or if the oil reserves in Falkland waters are providing motivation for renewed claims.Oh, not again....3 years ago in Personal More Like This
There are lots of little specks of land around the world that still fall under post-Imperial British control. That many consider these outposts to be tired relics of the Empire is irrelevant: the people that live on them consider themselves to be British citizens and have voluntarily chosen to remain loyal to the United Kingdom. As such, the United Kingdom is obliged to do all it can to ensure their security.
This is the case with the Falklands.
I'm not quite sure what other agenda the Argentinean government thinks the Royal Navy has in sending HMS Dauntless into the region.
Yes: the Daring Class destroyer is one of the most advanced ships currently afloat and the Princi

I'd like to clarify some things. If you want to use my concepts in non-profitable way – don't ask for my permission every time. Just remember that 90% of all my concepts in the gallery are commercial. And the companies owning the copyrights wouldn't be happy to see their games' concepts in some other projects. If you don't infringe the copyright, use them. If you want a commercial use, make sure you tell me about that.
Also I don't sell final works, because in most cases they have been already sold.
As for the job offers, I don't take single orders. Offers I can consider include PC and
game console, mostly in Sci-fi genre. I don't consider any other offers.
Thanks for your attention!

Cyanide and Happiness ShowOur animated show has been waiting to be made a long time. This is a big god damn deal to us, and I hope you guys want to see the final product as badly as we want to make it. Seriously, we have years of animation we've been wanting to throw out for you to ocularly digest, and we would rather give straight to your face instead of going through TV where it will get COVERED in preservatives and insecticides.
My analogy has wandered from me, but please check out our kickstarter and what could potentially be the best thing ever to happen to mankind. Potentially.
Strange and exotic foods. The USA is the loudest nation on Earth. Its culture is presented to the rest of the planet in all forms of media, and has been for the decades that I've been parked in front of the TV. Kids in remote corners of the world grow up watching Sesame Street. For those that take my jibes, barbs and sarcasm too seriously: I have no problem with that kind of cultural permeation. Far from it. I find it rather fascinating.
It has however led to a few "WTF?" moments. Questions as to what those crazy Yanks are talking about, as there is nothing comparable elsewhere. They're never in regards to anything major. Just little cultural quirks that have never escaped beyond the borders and, as such, are seen by outsiders as a total f**king mystery.
Things like "S'mores".
"S'more" is a word I've heard and read since the 80s.
"Let's make S'mores"
"Can we have S'mores?"
