He grabs your attention and hold you in that one instant of happenstance which everyone else missed, with genuine intelligence and his camera strapped to his chest.

How to : Find Art ThievesPlease this journal, so that a lot of people can read it.How to : Find Art Thieves3 years ago in Art Features More Like This
I noticed that a lot of people don't know how to search for their photos on the internet, so here is a short tutorial. Unfortunately there isn't much you can do about art thieves, but i still think it is important to look out for them.
1. visit Google.com
2. Go to the page of the photo you want to search and click "show image"
3. Copy the Link and paste it into google.
4. This page should open, click "search by image".
5. Now you can browse trough the results.
6. The less results the happier you should be.
EDIT : You can also use websites like : tineye.com and iqdb.com
This was pointed out to me by some people, personally i have no experience with them, but i am sure that they work too.

Help fund and support WAR COMMAND! :)Help fund and support WAR COMMAND! :)2 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
It's Austen here, I'm a freelance illustrator from Perth, Western Australia and I've recently been involved with Fringe Games, who have made a cool collectable card game: War Command. It's play style has been described as a mix of Magic the Gathering & chess, and is Fringe Games' first big project - as well as one of mine.
War Command has a Kickstarter raising funds right now for the physical release version of the game. Please check it out and share it round cause we could really use all the help we can get. You'll be supporting not only the game but all the illustrators (myself included) who've done all the artwork for it. Think of it as a kind of pre-order for the whole thing - w

BeautyFridaymorning I looked out of my kitchenroom and oh.....Beauty7 years ago in Personal More Like This
We live in a rural area. Lots of space and trees. The space was white. The trees white and dark. Horses dark. Beautful pastels in the sky. A breathtaking sight.
I wish I could share the images I saw with my eyes... But the best thing I can do, is giving you a link to weather photos of that day (9 januari). It gives you a good impression. http://www.hetweer.nl/weerfoto/19370/winterbeelden-te-hellevoetsluis.htm
All people in the Netherlands know what I am talking about.
We had to go that morning to another village with the car. Every turn of the raod we had another view. Wow.
I said to my husband. This kind of beauty is not necesary for survival (survival of the fittest). Everything was covered with an enchanting beauty. Roofs. Trees. Cars. Broken fences. Industrial things... No, he said, this is extra.

I swear I'm not dead!
So yeahhhhhh, been awhile since I tossed up a journal. Just felt like it was time to toss another one up to inform my fans on a few things.
I had a totally baller summer. Had a shit ton of fun at BronyCon and Club Luna! It was super hot where I live, but I picked up a part time job and I work overnights now, so I avoided most of the heat. Chiming in on this though, I started college back up again on top of having this job. Free time kinda comes and goes, so I can't really promise on how many more art things I'll work on for the remainder of this year.
That being said....
I do have a lot of unreleased/unfinished projects sitting around collecting dust. The remainder of this year will probably be just me finishing pro
JWildfireMini on android :-)Just created a special (and still very experimental) JWildfire version called JWildfireMini as app for android smartphonesJWildfireMini on android :-)4 years ago in Personal More Like This
It can render most JWildfire/Apo flames and is both very stable and very slow
Here is a "screenshot" as first impression:
The example flame (my "Border stones" ) took 67 seconds to render (The image resolution was 480x640) .
This is of course not really acceptable but I was very impressed by the fact that it worked - and that it worked without many changes to the codebase
2011 BMFAC News UpdateBMFAC winners published in print magazine!2011 BMFAC News Update3 years ago in Art Features More Like This
The 25 winners of the Benoit Mandelbrot Fractal Art Contest were contacted in mid February to supply large format files of their winning images and also a short bio explaining their interest in fractal art, software used and general information about their work if they chose to do so. We were also informed that the first exhibit would be held in Logroño, in Northern Spain. Javier Barrallo, a Professor of Mathematics at The University of the Basque Country, Spain and also one of the panelists for the BMFAC was our contact for this. The current exhibit will be in the Casa de la Ciencia (House of Science), in Logroño, the Capital city of RIOJA until June 10th. I'll post a few pictures Javier sent further down. Javier also says he will send more pictures soon.
Also when I was contacted in February, Javier informed me that he had written an article about the BMFAC for a Spanish scientific magazine with all the winning images i

Help Multimedia Fusion 2 get Green LitHelp Multimedia Fusion 2 get Green Lit2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I'm a bit of a lurker here but I've come up to let people know about a little program I think doesn't get the props it deserves.
It's called Multimedia Fusion 2 (MMF2 for short) and it's an author-ware tool, a bit like Game Maker but with it's own unique system. It's easy to learn, easy to use yet very powerful, and exports to a lot of different platforms. Like Windows, Android, iOS and even XBLA. It's trying to graduate from the Steam Green Light program so if some of you could wander on over there and give us the thumbs up, that would be awesome.
I think getting on steam would really increase the visibility of MMF2 and more people would find out about this really awesome program. Anyway, thanks for reading. Link is bellow or just click on the banner.

Artist Intent vs Fan CriticismsThis has been a subject I've been interested in for years, and one which I personally struggle with on a near constant basis: Artist's intent versus fan criticisms. Before we begin I just want to make this clear that this journal is NOT about "ignoring criticisms" or any sort of endorsement of such an action. I'm gonna be accused of it, of course, but I just wanted to get that out of the way right now.Artist Intent vs Fan Criticisms3 years ago in Personal More Like This
As I've been observing fan interactions over the years I've noticed a severe increase in a sense of entitlement: IE: that if you love something enough you have a "right" to force the creators to change their content to suit your personal preferences. We saw this play out to the extremes this past summer with the Mass Effect 3 ending debacle, and we see it play out to a much lesser extent here on DA quite a bit.
Artists need feedback and criticisms to grow and improve their work, but at what point does it move beyond offering suggestions to help an artist improve to outright de

Smilies PlzEDITSmilies Plz7 years ago in Personal More Like This
Hahahah, for some reason this journal is more popular than my actual artwork.
I'm glad you guys like this little collection of emotes and plz accounts, but I feel like there are so many more comprehensive collections out there! I feel I would do you a favor by redirecting you to one of these instead of letting you fave this one.
From now on I'm just going to use this journal as my own personal collection of favorites, if you don't mind.
Dude, I keep seeing all these cool icon-smilies all over the place, and I keep wanting to use them. But whenever the situation comes up, I can never remember the username. My memory is sad, really. I wish someone would make a list of all the smilies so I could favorite it and be merry.
You know what? I think I'll do it myself.
But not all at once. 'Course, I can't think of all the icons out there off the top of my head. But for every one I see, I'll put on this journal for further safe-keeping.
