Two things made me think of this connection – a documentary which covered the various types of killers: those who kill from afar (by bombs or by shooting with a hunting rifle) the closer kill, such as a pistol shot, and the close up killer who enjoy watching the victims face as he thrusts the knife in.
The best street shooters are the latter, they want to smell the perfume and see the facial expression before they shoot.
One of the many symptoms of schizophrenia is being captivated by details. Some drugs mimic this, hence the stereotype of the spaced out hippy contemplating a flower.
This is also a characteristic of the street photographer. We can be confronted by a mass of hundreds of people on a city street but we notice the small, unusual things – those two are about to kiss, that homeless person is wearing an expensive watch, that tattoo mimics the dress pattern.

A lot of users seem to think they can define what is art and what isn't, and this never fails to infuriate me.
Have these people ever been to any art galleries? A lot of popular modern art looks like it's been drawn by 5 year olds in 5 minutes, while classical art all looks exactly the same. Maybe they should go visit some museums and start shouting "not art, herp derp" until they get thrown out.
If stuff you don't like makes the front page, it means there's an audience for that sort of stuff, in which case you should be blaming DeviantArt's user base rather than insulting the artists. Funnily enough, unoriginal Pokemon and Pony crap doesn't get as much hate as a lot of nude stuff. I wonder why. (*coughpersonalinsecuritiescough*)

Never ForgetAt 9:30 this morning in Newtown, CT, a single gunman dressed completely in black walked into the Sandy Hook Elementary School and proceeded to mercilessly gun down 20 children between the ages of 4 and 10, as well as 6 adults, including the principal and the guidance counselor. None of them survived. At a separate scene several miles from the school, a woman was found dead, who has now been identified as the shooter's mother. In addition to this, the gunman's father was found dead in his home in Hoboken, NJ. The latest update to this situation was the gunman's identity: Adam Lanza. It has been revealed that his mother was a kindergarten teacher at the school. When the shooting died down, the murderous coward proceeded to kill himself. Please, please keep these families in your prayers. I can only imagine the grief these parents, and the town in general, must feel at the moment.
