So I love fanart. I think it's fun. I think it's a great way for someone to learn skills and build confidence in a relatively safe, amateur setting, but sometimes it's not sunshine and butterflies. Fanartists, because of the very visible yet niche nature of their work, are destined to encounter shitbags on the internet.
Since I've been sharing fan art online since 2002, I thought I'd type up some notes. This is just my experience/angle on things, so ymmv.
1. People will steal your art.
The difference between fanart and regular art is that it's recognizable by subject, and since you don't own the subject, everyone will assume they have the right to it. They'll put i

Tilda Swinton has always been more types of wildly creative artist than “only” an actress. As part of a live performance art installation for the Serpentine Gallery in London, she was displayed in a glass box not much bigger than herself, doing nothing but occasionally sleeping. She’s well–known in fashion circles for her work with designers specializing in androgynous styles of attire. She starred in the art–house film “Orlando,” based on the Virginia Woolf novel, in which she switches gender half way through the time–tripping story. Tilda is now known mostly as an Oscar–winning actress in main

How difficult it always is, to get stones for a costume in the right color, size and shape.
That's why I uploaded this tutorial today: How to make gems.
How to work step by step:
What materials do you need:
- resin and hardener
- tinting paint
- cups and spoons/ chopsticks to stir
- maybe a scale
- silicone mold for/ of stones (I bought it on etsy)
- aluminium foil

I accept commissions for Kid Loki-props. Look here for examples http://azuho.deviantart.com/gallery/43400007 ^^
All props together cost 200 € (the crown alone costs 70 €)
I´m sorry, but this price does not include shipping so please keep this in mind, especially when you are from oversees.
the sizes of the silcon-parts are flexible :
arm: approx. 23 cm/ 6 inch
leg: approx. 33 cm/ 13 inch
belt : approx. 76 cm/ 30 inch + 81 cm/32 inch (the front-strip is 36 cm/ 14,2 inch, but can be cut, if too long)
the crown is made from epoxy-resin and it is possible to make it a little bit smaller but not larger XD:
head: 56,5 cm/ 22,2 inch
If you have questions, please feel free to ask. ^^ ... ... ...

PE: Literature Critique TipsAs part of Project Educate Critique week, the Community Volunteers would like to share more art specific elements to consider whilst giving good critique.PE: Literature Critique Tips3 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
Today we are looking at the Literature gallery, with our Top Tips.
Before you start
READ the piece all the way through.
Read it again, making notes of what you would like to point out in your critique.
Stay Objective- you are critiquing the piece not the person.
These tips are areas which aren't just necessary in critiquing others' work, but also when self-critiquing your own writing. This is one person's suggestions and I welcome any further tips in addition.
A good opening. The opening to any form of writing doesn't necessarily need to involve a physical explosion, but it needs to have an initial hook; something to entice the reader in. It needs to be clear, something that
First Contest: Finally here! Our first contest theme here at #LokiMyLove has been decided upon! It was thought up by our very own :iconMel-Street: ! The funny thing is, :iconolihmajor: had a similar idea, Their ideas were as follows.First Contest: Finally here!3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Mel-Street said: "Loki's reaction to certain cultural places/technologies (a dance club, cell phones, etc.)"
OlihMajor said: "Loki's reaction to strange Midgardian things. Like Lady Gaga's outfits. It'd be fun to see how people draw or write out Loki's reactions to all our strange human things!"
So the first contest theme is this: **DRAW or WRITE about Loki's reaction(s) to something foreign to him that exists in the human world.** It can be anything really, ranging from strange foods, clothing, human behavior, even animals!
>You can submit only ONE peice of artwork, or ONE fanfic/peice of literature. Sorry folks, but your writing has to be a "one-shot" as they call it.
>You must submit it to the folder called "Contest Submissions" by going to #LokiMyLove's Gallery and scro

Ever wanted to request for a specific male stock pose, but didn't know who to ask? WELL! Now you can!
Put your requested poses here, in the comments of this journal, and I will keep an updated list below so that male stock providers can come and look to see what's needed, and hopefully they can fulfill these requests! I'll update the journal whenever I get a new request, and I'll repost the journal every once in a while to make sure people keep seeing it I'll put your username next to the request so that the stockers know who to notify once the request is fulfilled!

Art theft and retracing artHey guys! How are you all?Art theft and retracing art3 years ago in Personal More Like This
This... is not my usual life-is-perfect journal entry. It's about Art theft, and what is considered as disrespectful if you ever copy/retrace original artworks. To make things as clear as possible:
-you DO NOT submit another artist's artwork in your own dA gallery. Your gallery is for YOUR stuff, your favorites is for the artworks you have specially liked while browsing dA. Submitting someone else's art and saying it's your own, is considered as theft.
Clear? Should be for most, but you never know. Next:
-you DO NOT retrace, copy, color, or edit another artist's artwork without giving them the proper credits. You DO NOT submit this edited artwork and say it's "your own original artwork" without ANY indications to which artwork you're editing/copying from. It WILL NOT help you in any way as an artist to receive compliments about an artwork because the viewers think it's all you. You HAVE to accept your own flaws and need of an original artwork
Journal CSS: SidebarsIn this journal I share the quickest, cleanest and easiest way to get a sidebar up and running in your journal.Journal CSS: Sidebars7 years ago in Personal More Like This
Just as there are several ways to skin a cat, CSS gives us several ways we can position sidebars in our journals. The two most common are to use position: absolute or float: left/right - both have their own pros and cons.
I think using float is the best, the following paragraphs explain why, but you can skip straight to the code and instructions if you like
last update: Wed, Feb 6, 2013 (clarification etc)
When you use the position: absolute method, one of the benefits is that they're really simple to position, and you can force it to touch a TOP and BOTTOM value (ie, to make it stretch the length of the journal always.)
The problem with using position: absolute however is that it yanks the sidebar out of the page and then places it gently back on top in a way that doesn't let it interact with other elements in your journal. In oth
Looking for Cosplayers!Sooo with Motherland Chronicles under way, I'm thinking I'll indulge myself and do all the things I haven't had a chance to in my career so far.Looking for Cosplayers!2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Anime/manga was one of the biggest reasons I became interested in art at all, so cosplay is something I've hoped to photograph for a long while now but never really had a chance.
So!! If you're a cosplayer and would like to shoot with me please read on
I'm mostly into 90's fantasy stuff and here's a full list of stuff I'd love to shoot in alphabetical order:
Alichino, Angel Sanctuary , Arslan Senki, Blade of the Immortal, Claymore, Doll, FF6-8, Gantz, Guilty Gear, Magna Carta, Monster Hunter, Nana, Noblesse, Trinity Blood, War of Genesis III, Weiss Kreuz, and pretty much any characters by Yoshitaka Amano, Range Murata, Clamp and Hyung Tae Kim. But I'm open to stuff that I haven't seen/played before as well!
If you're in the NY area or will be coming by, please drop me a note with your work!!

My thoughts on portable gaming and the PS Vita.[ReadMe: Alright guys, get ready for this wall of text rant tonight. (Note: this is NOT a review of the Vita. You can get that from any major game review network.) This is just a rant I had to rant about because I'm a nerd, and it's fully opinionated, despite I talking like what I'm saying is pseudo-factual. Your agreement with me may vary, though this is pretty inconsequential stuff.]My thoughts on portable gaming and the PS Vita.3 years ago in Personal More Like This
So lately I've been hearing a lot of people eager to look at their watch and pronounce the precise time that portable gaming has passed. I don't have any crazy statistical facts or deep market research on the matter, but I don't entirely think portable gaming on dedicated devices such as the 3DS and Vita is in decline like headlines constantly make it seem -- it's likely still growing (or at the very least remaining rather level.) It's just that compared to NON-dedicated-device gaming such as on smartphones and tablets, the dedicated market is beginning to pale in comparison. (I could be wrong about this

Hello and welcome to my second tutorial. I made this one especially for Thomas today.
Here are some pictures on "How to use Worbla's"
But first: What is Worbla's?
Worbla's Finest Art is a thermoplastic that's ultra cosplayer-friendly. It cuts easily with a knife or a pair of scissors.
