This celebrity doll repaint was inspired by an outtake from the film Gone With The Wind that never made it to the final film. Inset photos shows the doll in different stages of the repaint.

I used a 16-inch Scarlett O'hara doll here produced by Robert Tonner Doll company. I completely removed factory facial painting and hand painted it to more faithfully replicate Vivien Leigh as Scarlett from that particular scene.

The doll's hair has been completely restyled.

Repaint is a new form of pop art, wherein the doll's face is treated like a three dimensional canvas, with the added challenge of painting within a very small area . Since dolls are basically miniature pieces, brush strokes and shading have to be very controlled and precise.

This celebrity doll repaint was inspired by Vivien Leigh's much acclaimed portrayal as Scarlett O'hara from the now timeless classic, "Gone With The Wind".

I used a 16-inch Scarlett O'hara doll here produced by Robert Tonner Doll company. I completely removed factory facial painting and hand painted it to more faithfully replicate Vivien Leigh as Scarlett. The doll's hair has been slightly trimmed, then reworked to a more proper scale and framing of her face and to more accurately mimic the character's hairstyle from the opening scene of the movie.

The photo on the bottom shows the doll as it looked originally before repainting.

A tribute to one of the most iconic Hollywood screen characters, as portrayed by the incomparable Ms. Vivien Leigh. This version depicts Scarlett's pensive expression and melancholy as she bids goodbye to Ashley on his way back to rejoin the army against the Yankees. It turns out this version also fits perfectly in the green dress where she gets frustrated over not having been able to secure the money to pay taxes on Tara.

Full facial repaint and shading as well as extensive hair style make over to replicate the features of the character and the subtle nuances of lifelike expressions.

WHITNEY HOUSTON TRIBUTE: (1963 - 2012)

---- Farewell and thank you to an artist whose music has become a soundtrack of my life in many ways.

It is with great pride that I share my latest creation - my humble tribute to "the Voice", Ms. Whitney Houston. Whitney Houston's music has touched me in more ways than any other singer/artist and I am glad that I could pay respects to this legendary artist.

Hair rework and extensive full facial makeover were needed to bring Whitney Houston's features to life on this 11 1/2 inch doll. Inset photo on the bottom shows the factory version.

In commemoration of the centenary (100 years) of the Titanic sinking and as a tribute to the re-release of the movie "Titanic" in 3D, I am very pleased to offer my one of a kind creation of Kate Winslet as Rose Dewitt Bukater from the 1997 blockbuster epic.

I have long wanted to create a special custom doll of Rose and this year provided the perfect opportunity for that.

This celebrity doll repaint was inspired by world class singer Celine Dion.

I used a 16-inch Elizabeth Swann doll here produced by Robert Tonner Doll company. Upon close inspection of the doll's facial features, Celine Dion came to mind.

So, I completely removed factory facial painting and hand painted it to bring the likeness of Ms. Dion to life. Extensive paint contouring technique had to be employed to replicate Celine's features.

The doll's hair has been partially rerooted with additional hair as some of the areas were sparsely rooted. Then I gave her hair a soft perm for just some very subtle waves just like Celine's.

The inset photo shows the doll before transformation.

Repaint is a new form of pop art, wherein the doll's face is treated like a three dimensional canvas, with the added challenge of painting within a very small area . Since dolls are basically miniature pieces, brush strokes and shading have to be very controlled and precise. Another equally challenging feat especially when recreating a likeness is to work within the limits of an existing doll's facial mold.

Elizabeth Taylor possesses one of the most beautiful faces in Hollywood. This one of a kind custom repaint is inspired by a famous 1948 portrait of then 16 year old Taylor photographed by the brilliant Philippe Halsman.

The base doll used is Franklin Mint's 15-inch Elizabeth Taylor doll. (shown on the bottom left of the picture)

So , as I always do, I completely removed factory facial painting and hand painted the doll to infuse it with the essence and character of Elizabeth Taylor as she appeared for the 1948 Halsman photo session. This was achieved with an exacting level of accuracy as well as shading and layering of colors, some of which are very subtle. To further add to the realism, I carefully painted in the hairline to replicate Taylor's. These were all intended to bring out the luminescence of Taylor's radiant beauty.

The inset photo in the bottom shows the doll as it looked originally before repainting.

Repaint is a new form of pop art, wherein the doll's face is treated like a three dimensional canvas, with the added challenge of painting within a very small area . Since dolls are basically miniature pieces, brush strokes and shading have to be very controlled and precise as well as carefully paying attention to proper scale.

In anticipation of the upcoming Twilight saga, "Breaking Dawn", I thought it would be exciting to create the two lead actors that played the central characters from the Twilight series of movies.

I have decided to recreate the actors, instead of the characters they portrayed.

The doll used is a 17 inch Edward doll by Robert Tonner. Full facial repaint and shading as well as extensive hair style make over to replicate the features of Robert Pattinson.
The inset photo on the bottom shows the mass produced version of the doll used as it was originally released.

This celebrity doll repaint was inspired by the British actress Keira Knightley.

I used a 16-inch Elizabeth Swann doll here produced by Robert Tonner Doll company - a finely made facial sculpt but the facial paint was something I found quite unsatisfactory and which I felt did not really reflect the character portrayed by Keira nor captured her likeness.

So, I completely removed factory facial painting and hand painted it to bring the likeness of Ms. Knightley to life. The doll's hair has been partially rerooted with additional hair as some of the areas were sparsely rooted. Then I gave her hair a soft perm for just some very subtle waves.

The inset photo shows the doll as it looked originally before repainting.
