Coming Soon: A Unified Submission Process! We're always trying to improve the deviantART member experience. While many of our site upgrades are taken directly from community feedback, every once in a while we (administrators) need to trust our instincts. For many years, our gut was telling us that submitting content to deviantART was becoming bloated. Not only was it confusing for new deviants, but we found that there was redundancy in the systems as well as the content. We needed a fix. We made a fix. And it's coming soon!Coming Soon: A Unified Submission Process!3 years ago in Personal More Like This
A Unified Submission Process
There will soon be a single system to submit all content. What's that mean? Well, all new content (including deviations, journals, group blogs, and news articles) will be be submitted from a single page. So, you will have a single publishing platform, and you will be able to decide where it should be posted -- whether in your journals, news, or gallery. This page will have a snazzy WYSIWYG editor, allowing for rich editing of your posts.

I have learned that fear is a device of our own creation. I often watch myself and others in situations where fear is turned into rage, pain, and depression. The communication breaks down and often a fight will rage that never end because the real issue isn't being addressed. I have noticed more and more how fear manipulates our lives in negative ways. It prevents progress, undermines positivity, and ruins our self esteem. We shouldn't ever fear the things that may happen, did happen, or are happening. Instead, I have learned that we should fear only fear itself and those who sew it.
For those who sew fear and negativity cannot help us or themselves. It is easy to be dragged down by them and the insecurity that surrounds us all. This is why we must surround ourselves with people who love and care for us. They are the ones who will bring us up no matter how horrible it may be. It is the people who never make a effort to change that we must avoid. They will never truly love or a
Dear DADear DA...Dear DA2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I have learned a lot about myself this week. It isn't up to other people to make you happy. Only you can really make you happy. We are only unhappy with our friends because of our own shortcomings. Relationships require wisdom, patience, and so much time. We should all be grateful of our true friends no matter how long or short the relationship is.
I also learned that honesty is the best policy even with people we hate. Because deep down hatred and love are so similar that they often cross into each other. I lost one old close friend, but I feel closer than ever to another. I appreciate my best friend for everything they have ever supported me through and always telling me how they felt. Because now I have learned through my own experiences with them how things I have done effected them! I am happy that our relationship is important enough to me that I notice these things on my own now. While, I know I am not perfect and do many things wrong. I know I am not the monster I th
Exploring: People and PortraitsAmongst the General Photography galleries on deviantART is an ecclectic range of People and Portraiture Photography. Often, the hidden gems in this gallery get overlooked in favour of the very popular and attractive portraits such as those shown below...Exploring: People and Portraits3 years ago in Art Features More Like This
People and portraits is home to so much more and being a CV for the General Photography gallery has opened my eyes to that tremendously. I get an average of 5 - 10 suggestions a day that are purely of people and portraiture work. Each suggestion is much like the previous in that the images feature women, elegantly placed or glamorously clothed. Whilst these are fantastic examples of working with people - there is so much more in the depths of that gallery.
For Starters...There are men!
Women are great! Don't get me wrong, but there's a distinct lack of notice for the men in the people and portraits gallery. Below are
Emoticon Gallery ChangesGreetings!Emoticon Gallery Changes2 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
There are some changes to the Emoticon Gallery structure that I'm excited to announce. Months ago Synfull suggested this layout:
and the response from the community has been entirely in favor of this structural change!
While I have made most of the changes the category currently looks like this:

Medium - up to 50x50
A Rant about Abstract Art:Hey there people! Let's gab about abstract art.A Rant about Abstract Art:2 years ago in Personal More Like This
To start, I hate it. I both love it at the same time. That's the nature of that art. Abstract art is meant to evoke an emotion out of you, in a minimalist way or in a complex one, that's the main goal of art in general, is to evoke emotion and responses. And I guess since i'm writing about it despite my loathing nature for the majority of it, I guess it's successful either way. So let me just blab out the main point of this.
Abstract art is often shat out by people who can't fully grasp the concept of their own work themselves. They rely on the general stupidity of the public to crap out an explanation, then they sit there and go: 'Yes. My large, purple square IS the embodiment of pure energy and the personification of the world.' Then people who see it and DON'T get a response, like the majority, rely on this sort of guilty clause to believe what some pompous dingbat shat out, and it continues on that way. WOW! I made a great picture! ON
A Few Things.Hey gang! I've got a few things I wanted to say a few words about so let's get things started!A Few Things.2 years ago in Personal More Like This
1) By now, the word has likely already spread around but in case some people who frequent my page haven't heard yet, my good friends Saburo X ( :iconSaburoX: ) and DarienShields ( :iconDarien-Shields: ), along with a bit of help from myself, have been working together to create a little RPG with pregnant girls in it called Seeds of Fate. You can play the demo and find out more about it at the following link: http://bastionworks.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=4454 Although the final game is still a long ways off they're both really passionate about the project so I encourage those of you out there to support the project with either kind words and/or donations. Every little bit helps!
Once more, you can find a download to the demo, as well as info about how to support and donate to the project here: http://bastionworks.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=4454
Stock and Resources: Policy ClarificationThe Stock and Resources community is an integral part of deviantART, both for having an active community of its own as well as providing high quality stock to all deviants.Stock and Resources: Policy Clarification2 years ago in DeviantART Announcements More Like This
As this community has grown so much over the years, so has the amount of invalid stock and resources that have been provided by some deviants. The Stock and Resources community feels like this reflects negatively on them, the volunteers have a hard time trying to teach people about valid stock and how to use it correctly, and it gives an appearance that deviantART Staff tolerate so-called “art theft” or copyright infringement.
In this article our aim is to reinforce our policies regarding stock and stock use and clear up some misconceptions.
Stock and Resource submissions to deviantART:
What are Invalid Stock and Resources?
In short, invalid stock or resources are anything which you do not have full permission to upload. This incl
Tineye is in it's final daysLets face it, Tineye which was once our best hope for spotting art theft has become one of the worst image search engines available. When results are given there is only ever 2 or 3 links and it's a gamble to even if they will work or if the link is dead. Lets also not forget the lovely "you have reached your max search for today" that goes across your entire IP address so it's not like you can jump to another computer and continue. You hit that max.. you're done.Tineye is in it's final days3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Over the past year three (that i know of) image search engines have surfaced that out shine Tineye 100%. Because not many people know of these sites i am going to list them out in the blog so that people will no longer be relying completely on the fading Tineye.
For random images and photographs there is the new Google image search extension are avalible for both FireFox and Google Chrome. http://www.google.com/insidesearch/searchbyimage.html (look at step 4 and it will give you the extensions)

deviantART is applying to manage .artdeviantART is applying to manage .art2 years ago in DeviantART Announcements More Like This
deviantaRT is applying to manage a new Top Level Domain called .art
Top Level Domain (TLD) is the technical name for ".com," ".net," ".org," or ".fr". These TLDs are controlled and issued by a worldwide organization called ICANN, short for the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers. When ICANN announced that it would accept applications for new TLDs, deviantART quickly realized that someone would try to nab ".art."
DeviantART is committed to have the .art TLD in the hands of representatives of the arts; people who know something about the Internet and the way art is presented and enabled by the Internet. Nobody has more experience with this than the deviantART community that we are all building, participating in, and sharing with each other every day.
In order to secure .art into the right hands, deviantA
