Now that Galaxies is officially defunct, I thought it safe to post some of my favourite illustrations here for posterity sake..!

Working on this franchise for close to 2 years really helped me grow as a creative and allowed me to explore many aspects of the craft-- its not often you get to play the role of illustrator, story-teller and designer within a single commission. It was truly rewarding in hindsight and more often that not, a very humbling experience when you witness the sheer quality and passion of other fellow creatives working on the same project, really inspires you to stretch yourself beyond the usual bounds!

I always try to nab the trooper cards before anyone else. :) I recall being very taken by the bleached and cross-processed art direction of Black Hawk Down and had to do a few cards in a similar feel. What better than with one involving rappelling special forces stormies..

I love the official title more than the illustration. Massive killstreak for this guy.

A team of Shadow Troopers tracking down Rebel scum. In the original square format image, the ground and foliage in front of the crouching trooper has been disturbed with what looks like a walker's footprint. Maybe some rebels stole an AT-ST.

Somehow I was trying to convey 'serenity' and 'stillness' when I was painting this. Like a calm dewy morning of sorts, the Shadow tracker team moving through the forest with an equal amount of stealth and grace.

I met an actual death trooper cosplayer at SDCC 2011 by chance when he stumbled (literally) past the IFS booth at artist alley, and I just had to give him a print of this piece. What was even cooler was that he returned to hand me some death trooper patches, challenge coins and similar DT paraphernalia~!!!

Stim Armour. Good for taking down Jar Jar with. Down boy. Good boy.

Now that the image has been flipped I realise the horrendous angle on the stormtrooper's helmet. I apologise. :'( Hope the nature of the image more than makes up for it though. Thank you Roger for picking this one!

At long last, the official SWGTCG gallery was updated.

I'm really thankful that a handful of my works were selected. I particularly had lots of fun with the trooper pieces, especially this one and I'm fortunate to be able to share this.

My only gripe is that the crop of the wallpaper feels like too much of a closeup and loses alot of the story and 'ambience' of the original painting. (The original dimensions being that of a SQUARE, so I guess that didn't exactly leave whoever did the cropping, alot of room to work.) I had ewoks lined up silhouetted against a cliff to the left of the image and a yellow lizard that's currently obscured by the SWG logo. It was my favourite part of the image : (

Hope you guys like it though! Oh, I gave the Scout some thermal gear of my own design, namely the inbuilt displays woven into his gloves and also thermal leg wraps. I imagine they also have micro inflatable bladders embedded that help promote blood circulation or something...cause he just looks real comfy.

Also I SUSPECT this was edited out ( i cant remember).. but the original also had 'tic tac' looking tablets spilt out from the food cartridge at his feet --which is really the supporting narrative in the image cause the yellow lizard clearly doesn't notice the very still scout, promoting the concept of effective 'Cloaking Armour'.

This is one of ten pieces I did for the new Star Wars Essential Guide to Warfare. I had a blast working on it and I'm excited that I am able to contribute to the Star Wars universe.

I will be posting them in the order of sequence as it appears in the book. Hope you guys enjoy them!

The first one is a battle between the Lusankya of the New Republic Forces under the command of Wedge Antilles and the Reaper, commanded by Gilad Pellaeon of the Imperial Remnant. The two SSDs hammer each other while the wreckage of the fleet carrier Endurance goes down in flames.
