Now that Galaxies is officially defunct, I thought it safe to post some of my favourite illustrations here for posterity sake..!

Working on this franchise for close to 2 years really helped me grow as a creative and allowed me to explore many aspects of the craft-- its not often you get to play the role of illustrator, story-teller and designer within a single commission. It was truly rewarding in hindsight and more often that not, a very humbling experience when you witness the sheer quality and passion of other fellow creatives working on the same project, really inspires you to stretch yourself beyond the usual bounds!

Hard to see where you're going in a firefight with those blinders for a visor... ;) Still love scout troopers all the same.

I always try to nab the trooper cards before anyone else. :) I recall being very taken by the bleached and cross-processed art direction of Black Hawk Down and had to do a few cards in a similar feel. What better than with one involving rappelling special forces stormies..

I was asked to edit out the body parts in the background.. ;) (Note the unofficial indirect-fire wrist rockets being deployed)

I met an actual death trooper cosplayer at SDCC 2011 by chance when he stumbled (literally) past the IFS booth at artist alley, and I just had to give him a print of this piece. What was even cooler was that he returned to hand me some death trooper patches, challenge coins and similar DT paraphernalia~!!!

I love the official title more than the illustration. Massive killstreak for this guy.

Hi all! Long time no post...

IG88 kicking ass with his sonic blaster. (i dunno if that's canon, doubt it...but whose to say that an assassin droid won't update his arsenal right?)

Anyways I thought it'd be a good time to restart the posting habit with some of my recent (well.. since 08 hur hur) Star Wars Galaxies Trading Card Game work, done for Sony Online Entertainment.

[Speaking of which, did you guys hear about the "new Planetside game" announcement btw? I am freaking out about it!]

Always good to review old work too I guess. Its a shame some of my favourite cards didn't make it to the showcase, or I was too late to save them before they got taken down/replaced by newer card sets. Argh! Getting into the showcase is pretty much the only way anyone will view the artwork and knowing who did it aside from playing the game itself. Not to mention the fact that the image dimensions and crop is defined by Lucasarts themselves.

Used a number of photos as a base for this one, namely random models of AT-AT/STs from hobbyist/stock sites. They are all heavily modified of course. I've also added some details that I often add to AT-ST's that I paint- commander's cupola with blaster mount, searchlights, shielded weapons, bolt-on skirting to protect the batteries at the rear.

For the art direction in this image, I was really inspired by the cinematography at the end of "The Mist". It feels somewhat majestic and dreamy, but also coupled with tension, knowing that horror and chaos is not far away.

Battle-worn company of walkers moving quickly through a narrow pass.

I added my usual preference of wargear to the AT-STs, obviously keeping canon in mind and always making sure that whatever I've added have somehow appeared in SW stories at some point. In this image I thought it would be nice to show a different loadout for the different walkers in a company. The light footed scout to the left of the image sporting long range mortars bolted to the upper rear of the turret, communications antenna and 6-pack dumbfire rockets for harrassment. Also small, lightweight reactive armour plates to cover the vulnerable battery packs on the underside of the turret.

The main lead unit just has to have a nonchalant cool-headed gunner who is probably soaking in the sunrise :p, and it also sports 2 rotating grenade launcher mounts on its lower cheeks, plus a winch system under the main chin gun and shielded weapon systems.
