Life on Mars
As the next planet over that visiting wouldn’t be all that difficult (Venus being way too hot), especially after our trips to our own moon, Mars has always held a special attraction for our science fiction writers and illustrators. In fact, the comic book and the paperback novel are media in which fiction and art have formed a bond like no other in which the exterior presentation (the cover art) for the artform itself (the sci-fi novel’s text) is often of equal importance, creating a combined force, in serving the narrative. Mars may ultimately become a forward military outpost defending against invading aliens, or prime real estate for hu
Top 13 Sesame Street Scares (#7)#7: The Count Sleeps OverTop 13 Sesame Street Scares (#7)10 months ago in Personal More Like This
So one night, the Count decides to sleeps over with Bert and Ernie—and no, they’re not sleeping over for “that” reason! Get your mind out of the gutter!
Bert lets the Count sleep in his bed while he sleeps in the living room, allowing the Count to sleep with Ernie. (In separate beds! I said get your mind out of the gutter!)
Anyway, the Count has a hard time sleeping, so Ernie suggests that he counts sheep. The Count does exactly that—and being the Count, he can’t stop counting sheep.
His counting, laughter, and sudden bursts of thunder and lightning keep poor Ernie up all night, making it so that neither of them do much sleeping. (Because the Count is keeping him awake with his counting. Sheesh! What is your deal?!)
That skit didn’t seem t

the importance of failingsOften times i see many artists on all levels expressing their expectations from their current progress and seeing it as they fail. They feel this way because the type of level that is set is not only high but its constantly changing to grow higher even as they are progressing passed levels of artistic skills.the importance of failings2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Imagine a horse rider holding a fishing pole with sugar(your artistic level you want to reach) by the end of the string. And you the artist is the horse pursuing it.You are progressing forward but your goal is also being set higher as you progress.
And of course you will never ever reach the level that is constantly changing and i think this is an idea that every eager and striving artist should be comfortable with. To be comfortable with failing. This is not to say that you wont reach new levels , because you will. The levels you set up when you started out are much lower then the levels you set in your current phase.
The tough part is of course to stay on trac

#5: Kali Ma scene from Temple of Doom
Admit it! As soon as I mentioned Indiana Jones, this was the scene that came to your mind. How can it not be? It's the most infamous scene from the entire series.
You know it. I know it. Everyone else knows it. This is the scariest Indiana Jones scene ever.
We all know it by heart. Literally!
Indy and friends are sent to investigate the case of several missing children from an Indian village when they stumble across a cult for the Indian goddess of Death, Kali, which sacrifices human beings in the most gruesome way imaginable: by tearing their still-beating hearts out of their chests.

On March 1, 2012 the Nevada DMV issued the first license for a Google Driverless Car. The idea behind this innovation is that one day soon new technology will drive cars safer and more skillfully than humans, thus saving lives and billions of dollars in car crashes. How well this idea catches on is a bit questionable, given the powerful “romance” of driving one’s car, but it’s certainly an indicator of things to come in the daily intersection of human and artificial intelligence and mobility. There have always been those who have dreamed of stepping into a mechanical exo-skeletal-type “suit” and letting the engineering do the work, insta

Poll Questions: 09/20/2013Yes, it may sound a bit weird, but I am trying to make a poll question to see which one of the answers would get the most percentage. Its like a math experiment mixed with a political experiment for me in terms of ideology, political views, and philosophy. So i will give out six questions with eight answers each. Remember, there are not right or wrong answers, since they are just research. Each question will have eight choices for you to choose from. Determining your views of order-chaos, freedom-security, and equality-inequality, your results will determine where you stand on the spectrum.Poll Questions: 09/20/20132 years ago in Personal More Like This

Smile C:There's a sign in my little town of Maple Ridge. It's a pretty non-assuming sign. I think it's for a carpet place or something. But it always says something different, and it always manages to make me smile. Currently it reads: "Every day may not be good, but there's something good in every day." It read something different yesterday, and it'll probably read something different tomorrow. What's the purpose of this sign? Probably to make people smile. And damn if it doesn't do a bang up job.Smile C:4 years ago in Personal More Like This
Which begs the question: What, if anything, made you smile today? Or yesterday? Or just in general? The Universe needs more smiles. C:

All Hallow's Eve is finally upon us, and for this most hallowed of eves, I haved saved the creepiest of all creepypastas for last.
What creepypasta collection would be complete without the grand-daddy of them all?
Yes, tonight I will be sharing the tragic tale of Jeff, a boy who, through an unfortunate series of events, devolves and deforms, both physically and mentally, into a psychotic killer that would make Heath Ledger's Joker crap his pants in fright.OMINOUS UNKNOWN
KILLER IS STILL
After weeks of unexplained murders, the ominous unknown killer is still on the rise. After little evidence has been found, a young boy states that he survived one of the killer's attacks and bravely tells his story.
"I had a bad dream and I woke up in the middle of the night," says the boy, "I saw that for some reason the window was open, even though I remember

Scary For Kids
As with last year, I’ll be sharing a few selections from the infamous tome of horror stories, Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark.
In this first story, simply titled “The Thing”, two curious young boys stumble across a zombie lurking within a corn field.
Think I gave away too much of the story? Oh, believe me, I haven’t. That’s only the first part. The rest of it is far more horrifying.
There were two young boys named Trevor and Will. They spent most of their summer vacation hanging around town, looking for things to do.
One hot August night, the boys were sitting on a fence by the main road. There was a cornfield just across the road. Suddenly, Trevor spotted something in the field. In the darkness, it was difficult to make out, but he thought it looked like some kind of weird animal.

Another childhood tale of fright from Scary Stories. This one about a gravedigger who steals two silver dollars from the corpse of an old woman, only to be haunted by her spirit later that night.
Once again, it's one of those ghost stories best told to another, with the narrator screaming at the end.
If this story sounds familiar, it should, especially if you're a brony. The My Little Pony episode "Sleepless in Ponyville" featured a similar tale about an old mare with a missing rusty horseshoe. There was a lonely old woman who got sick and eventually died. She had no family and no close friends, so her neighbors got together and dug a grave for her. They asked the undertaker to make a coffin for her and they dressed her up in her best clothes and laid her body out in her living room.
When the old woman died, her eyes were wide open, staring at e
