Chapter 6: Hot Stuff
Twilight stumbled into her wearily into her house and collapsed on the couch that was the main piece of furniture in the library. Her cheek was pressed against the soft plush fabric her eyes closed as she breathed slowly. Not only had that been horrible and disgusting but it had been an embarrassing as well.
It had been so odd, she thought rolling onto her back and looking up at the ceiling. She could hear the whistling snore from Owlicious behind her as he slept. She had felt fine only moments before, and no one in town had been sick recently. Not to mention that Twilight never got sick, except for when her stress got the best of her. But that didn't make any sense either, she had been the most relaxed she'd been in ages.
"Oh hey Twilight, I didn't expect you to be back so soon." Spike had come from the back store room where all the rare books were kept.
"Yeah, I got sick," mumbled Twilight blowing a stand of her mane from her eyes with a huff.
"You. Sick? I don't

On his way to his car after a long day, Cogsworth glared a little in the general direction of the words. As a man of generous proportions himself, hearing the dreaded 'f' word, even in reference to another, was enough to incur his deepest annoyance.
He spotted several young people--many of his students, including the lively and rather spoiled Naveen. With them was a strange child, a heavyset and rather alarmed-looking young man in Naveen's arms. They were dancing, in the loosest sense of the term, and he scowled, seeing the obvious distress on the heavy boy's face.
"Stop that at once!" he insisted sharply. Naveen, in mid-pirouette, abruptly let the boy go. The young man went careening across the entryway, slamming into Cogsworth's middle. Cogsworth barked out a small noise of surprise, dropping his books as he caught the boy by the shoulders to steady them both. They barely remained u

He felt awful about it--he knew she was just a little child, and there was no excuse to a grown man shouting at a young girl like that.
He leaned on his crossed arms planted the table of the picnic bench outside the cafeteria, a lit cigarette dangling from his mouth. He usually gave himself at least the credit of keeping cool in the kitchen. Sure, he had a fiery temper if he was provoked, but he’d had to much experience in successful restaurants and working in the weeds. There was no reason for him to be so on edge.
He rubbed his fingertips into his eyes with a low sigh. Ever since he’d agreed to help Timon and Pumbaa with the International Day menu, he’d been having the devil’s own time. Perhaps it was as simple as that age-old problem of having too much on his plate.
Part of the problem was the menu itself. He was a master of just about any Western European cuisine one could

Rena Lapierre looked up at the brunette boy seated next to her. "I don't know. I think that's just the name of the school. It was founded back in the thirties." She shrugged. So she'd done some research on the school that she and two other students were being transferred to. Jim Henson High School had been, unfortunately, closed down due to budget cuts. There was a sudden scramble to send the students to other school, and she'd ended up at some school she'd never heard of, along with Quinn Cassady and Jeffrey Tanzer.
The blonde on the other side of her let out a huge sigh. "I've got a weird feeling about this." He murmured. None of them were very happy about this. But it wasn't like they had any choice. The familiar sound of a school bus pulling up woke the three of them slightly, and they stood to board.
Quinn and Jeffrey took a seat in the front together, and Rena sat behind them. The beginning of the ride was

Traveling for a pony takes a lot longer on hoof than in a machine. This was the number one lesson Flim learned as he made his way back to Ponyville. It had taken him three times as long to travel the same distance he had traveled in the Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000.
Flim noticed the small town of Ponyville coming into view. Jumping behind a bush, in a way that only a childish yet fully grown stallion can. After staying the night in a small and eccentric village, Flim came across a joke shop. Just the thing he needed.
Flim had played a prank on his brother a couple years back, which had involved coat dye and a lot of screaming. Coat die would keep him perfectly disguised in Ponyville, as they would most likely run him out at first glance.
Now behind a bush, Flim replaced his usually cream colored coat with a bright blue. It was perfect, no one would recognize him now! It was the perfect plan. Flim returned to the path a continued on his way to Ponyville, completely unaware of the blu

The second most-read was Sun Tzu's The Art of War. He'd had it since he was a young man, and he had read it through roughly a hundred times. Shere Khan treated it a bit like a prayer book, reading one maxim a day as a routine, more if his heart was in need of soothing.
The other was the 1922 Emily Post's Etiquette. He owned more modern editions--he'd bought each one as it came out and read it cover to cover--but this was the heirloom his mother had given him as a boy, and it was quite special to him.
His mother had been a creature of fine furs and pearls, her perfect makeup and beautiful dresses belying the rather hard-scrabble existence he'd not known for much of his childhood that they'd been leading. His father had long-since run off, abandoning his very English wife and child in India and scarpering for parts unknown. Alone, penniless,

"Speak for yourself," muttered Spike.
Behind Applejack stood Rarity, Fluttershy, and Spike. There was no sign of Pinkie Pie or Rainbow.
"Darling, we were just worried about you. You were gone for so long and nowhere in town! It was the Worst Possible THING!" Rarity finished her sentence by raising her hoof to her forehead and falling to the ground.

"Brother!" the words rang through the forest. The voice was laced with annoyance, but the noise was enough to rouse the sleeping stallion.
Flim found himself leaned up against a tree in what appeared to be the middle of nowhere. The recognition of the voice cut some clarity into his hazy mind. Standing up he dusted off his collar, straightened his bowtie, and cleared his voice. "Over here brother!" he called out.
Flam's head poked around the corner of a tree. His eyebrows were slanted inwards. He was clearly not happy. "Where on Equestria did you run off to?! We've got to get a move on if we are going to make it to Fillydelphia on time."
"Oh don't get your tail in a twist. Remember what Mother said, anger is not very becoming of you," Flim said with a wink, only angering his brother more, "And we have plenty of time."
Flam sighed and straightened to full height, silently counting to ten as he calmed his temper against his naïve brother. "Better?" asked Flim.

The door slammed shut, sending shivers through the walls of the library. The sun sat at a high point in the sky signaling that noon was nearing. In front of the recently closed door stood Twilight, shaking as tears streamed down her face, creating dark streaks in her lavender fur.
Confusion overwhelmed her, her heart felt heavy, her mind giving way to chaos. A flare of anger surged through her, her eyes screwed shut and her horn began to glow. The sound started off as a soft rustling but grew into a near thundering sound. In a flash of pages every book lining the library walls flew from the shelves as if each book was attached to a jet packet. Some slammed into walls; some went to the floor, others finding their resting place on another shelf. One book in particular collided with the head of a small purple dragon. Over Canterlot the last rays of sunlight disappeared of the horizon, bathing the sky in an array of colors. Above the gardens of Canterlot the two royal sisters stood on a balcony, performing their daily duties. This was the time they spent together, the time they felt most connected. The last light of day blinked out of existence and Celestia went back to the castle leaving Luna to finish raising the moon.
Tonight the moon was full and ripe. The golden white color bathed Equestria in its beauty. With a sigh Luna watched her friend rise into the sky. Then a flash interrupted the beauty. A bright purple light flooded the gardens, causing Luna to wince back with squinted eyes. As the light faded into glow, Luna hurriedly raised the moon, and leapt from the balcony, ready to investigate the strange happening.
In the gardens below sat Twilight Sparkle. Her eyes were closed and she was surrounded by bags of luggage and a dizzy purple dragon. Spike wobbled back a few ste

It was cold winters day at sweet apple acers, and the day looked to maybe develop some snow. A breeze came over the farm and nearly blew Apple Jacks hat off. She quickly grabbed it and put it back on her head. Apple Jack was sitting near the barn, and having just finished her work for the day and was contemplating what to do. She glanced up at the clouds in the sky and let out a long breath seeing it stream out in front of her because of the winter chill. Apple Jack thought to her self, ' I recon I aught to head on down to Ponyville and see what my friends are all up to.' So after carefully putting up all the apples she had gathered she began to trot on down to Ponyville.
Meanwhile in Ponyville Pinkie Pie was jumping up and down even more excitedly than usual. "Hey hey Dashie look! It's starting to snow! Twilight focused a picture of the, what had they called it? Super Speedy Cider Squeezy, in her mind and teleported. She found herself on the side of the road, next to a small cafe, several miles outside of Ponyville. Her eyes immediately picked out the bright red and white mane of one of the brothers.

"GET OUT!" screamed Twilight. Sweat darkened the fur on her brow and her hooves were wrapped tightly in the blankets of the hospital bed. The tan stallion stepped back stunned hooves clicking on the tile floor.
"Get out," she screamed again tears pricking at her eyes. She couldn't take it anymore, the stress, the pain, the hovering of Flim. "I hate you."
Flim stumbled out the door, glancing over his shoulder at the enraged mare. Outside Fluttershy and Applejack looked at him with wide eyes. They were the only two who had arrived as of yet. "Wha happened?" asked AJ shocked.
"She she kicked me out. She doesn't want me near her," he replied, his voice was choked.
"Oh, oh no," whispered Fluttershy. "Is she okay?"
"As fine as she can be," he muttered. "You two should go in there; someone needs to be with her." His eyes focused on the tiles beneath his hooves as he walked away, leaving the two mares.

Chapter 3: Job Interview
The Den of Beelzebub, otherwise known as Tiana's Place, was a soaring two-level Colonial mansion flanked by water, once a sugar mill, but its roots showed not one bit as Dr. Facilier trudged up to its radiant façade.
A fluid green neon script elegantly declared to him where he was, as if he needed the reminder. The place was an intricate array of Art Nouveau and Art Deco charms, in the form of glowing yellow-lit arched windows. A towering mansard finial soared toward the (still starless) New Orleans sky braced by palm trees and engaged white columns. Facilier could make out a chandelier through the foyer window.
Oh dear God.
He took in a deep breath of balmy evening air and stepped inside, following an irritatingly happy laughing couple whose carefree quality made his weights feel twice as heavy. Facilier considered picking one of their pockets, but then remembered he had no Shadow to do the trick on his behalf. Thus he shoved his han

Disney High: Dragon Lady IIIThere are lots of people who are not at all fond of other people, and the word 'antisocial' gets bandied about rather a lot for those particular persons. 'Antisocial' is not a catch-all term, and it should not be used as one when one merely has a casual disdain for human interaction.Disney High: Dragon Lady III3 years ago in Humor More Like This
Take Maleficent for example. 'Antisocial' was not really what she wanted to say to describe herself--'selectively social' was just so much more precise--but she generally 'selected' solitude. When one so vastly preferred being alone to being in the presence of others, it looked like one hated people.
She did not, usually, hate people. That took such an enormous amount of effort and it was pretty well true that most people were simply not at all worth the work. She disliked people, in a distant, hazy sort of way--she curled her lip at them.
Still. She didn't dislike all sorts of people, and she supposed that she rather desperately

Disclaimer: Walt Disney Pictures owns pretty much everything Dr. Facilier and all other characters of the Princess and the Frog. This is in all likelihood a one-shot I composed when trying to calibrate myself to the headspace of the delightfully groovy villain of the film, whom most people I know wish had not died, when he is reminiscing about his life while in a sort of limbo-torment at the hands of his "friends on the other side." But it also has the potential to become a longer fanfiction .someday. Potentially. Most likely. Because I am addicted to writing about villains and antiheroes. ADDICTED.
