Liquid Clay 101Liquid Clay comes in many forms, but many of us just refer to all brands as TLS, which actually stands for "Translucent Liquid Sculpey". In actuality, Sculpey certainly isn't the only one who makes Liquid Clay. Fimo makes a Liquid Clay called "Fimo Decorating Gel", and Kato makes a Liquid Clay called "Clear Liquid Polyclay".Liquid Clay 1014 years ago in Artisan Crafts More Like This
From my experience, you can use a WIDE variety of things with your Liquid Clay. If you want it to be Translucent though, I suggest using Fimo Decorating Gel. It is EXTREMELY translucent and makes the BEST sauces and syrups and anything else that needs to be coloured but still still transparent. TLS will leave you with an opaque mixture, so it's good for things that don't need to be see-through like chocolate sauce, slime, blood, icing, etc.
For colouring, things like Oil Paints, shaved Oil Pastels, Chalk Pastel/Charcoal, Kneaded Polymer Clay, Eyeshadow, Metallic Powders, Alcohol-Based Ink, Dry Pigment Powder, etc...
DON'T use Acrylic Paint. It does BAD things when

Lara's Adventure on QTE Island. For how many more years am I going to have to put up with new titles pretending that: a cutscene, which you have to watch again and again if you don't press a button at the right time, constitutes as "gameplay"?Lara's Adventure on QTE Island.3 months ago in Personal More Like This
It doesn't.
It never has and never will.
It doesn't make a game more cinematic. It doesn't add a sense of thrill. It simply makes viewers (I can't call them "players", as that would imply they are actually permitted to DO something) dread cutscenes, because they have no idea if they're going to be allowed to enjoy them or if they're going to have to watch them 5 times in a row because they fail to hit the random sequence of buttons indicated on the screen.
A game is thrilling ONLY when the player uses the control scheme effectively within the game environment. If the game needs to take control away from the player and lead them by the nose through a cutscene, it's been lazily constructed and as a result: isn't fun.
If you are a games designer and you have proposed a Quick Time

Emo Clothing:
By almost all current definitions, emo clothing is characterized by tight jeans on males and females alike, long fringe (bangs) often brushed to one side of the face, dyed black, straightened hair, tight t-shirts which often bear the names of rock bands, studded belts, belt buckles, Chuck Taylor All-Stars, skate shoes, or other black shoes (often old and beaten up) and thick, black horn-rimmed glasses.

100 Song ChallengeAs a few of you may remember, quite a while ago I did a 100 Themes Challenge.100 Song Challenge2 months ago in Personal More Like This
Well, I really wanted to do another one, but the only one I could find was one I put together a while ago called the 100 Songs Challenge, back when I was doing theme song wolves and such. P:
So, while I'm still trying to get back into the swing of things, I decided to do this challenge, and I welcome anyone else who wants to do it. ^_^ I'm going to be designing horses.
These are all songs that I know, most of them my favorites, others a just interesting songs that I've heard on the radio maybe once or twice, and now the list is a couple years old so I don't even remember some of them. x.x but I wanted to let anyone who wanted to do this know that you're welcome to change any of the songs you want. That way each time the challenge is done, it's unique.Cool, no?
Also, I made a playlist for this song list: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?listLHvacSxEVbWYnWjr_M1iatittFUwzvnKH&feature=mh_lolz

Back? Not quite...About my breakBack? Not quite...5 months ago in Personal More Like This
Despite the increase in activity from me here on DA recently, I'm not entirely "back" in the normal sense of the word. I'm kinda just tip-toeing the waters to see if things have calmed a bit. I'm still trying to get through my issues, with mixed success, and a two month leave of absence isn't going to undo years of stress buildup and stubbornness. But I'm working on it, slowly but surely. You might see some new work here or there, but I don't think I'm ready yet to jump back into doing any of my longer narratives.
In fact, judging by my recent comic's reception, I probably am not ready for a full fledged return just yet...

I sink hours of my time into them, so I can say with a degree of authority: modern games are complete and utter manure.
Why?
Because they're never finished.
In the race to get them out the door, and thanks in total to broadband connections, they are buggy and full of holes.
You never get a complete game for the huge sum of money you're expected to pay for them.
Case in point: Borderlands 2.
I've just encountered a bug that renders a mission impossible to complete (The "Get to know Jack" mission), meaning I won't be able to fully complete the game ..not that I could anyway, because the game I own isn't actually finished.
When was the last time any of us bought a title that didn't contain huge chunks missing, held back for the sake of DLC?
Well, I didn't buy any for Borderlands (so I've no idea who the f**k Moxxi is or why I should give

I've been hired by an actual company to do actual art. With a contract and everything. It's not permanent, but there is legal paperwork ... so that has to mean something. One of these legal papers means none of the finished art, none of the sketches, and none of the any part of it will be here. But that's pretty standard.
I'm going to let myself be excited about this. I get to work with the husband, which I always love, and the guy I'm working for is great. Not only does he have a ton of interesting concepts and thoughts running about in his head, but he has this idea that I really *really* like.
He doesn't want objectified, unrealistic women with exaggerated anatomy and bikini-armor -which is paradise to my artistic sensibilities. Not just that, but he was able to bring up the topic, without blinking and without apology, in front of a woman. It actually took a while for that bit of conversation to sink in.
I never, in my lifetime, thought I'd hear something l

I Had a DreamLast night I dreamt I was watching the MTV movie awards, and Clint Eastwood was on stage as a special guest, re-enacting his Republican National Convention empty-seat speech. It was painful and awkward, everyone in the audience just kind of watched with shocked horror.I Had a Dream9 months ago in Personal More Like This
Then Brad Pitt, who was apparently very drunk, jumped onstage and tried to shove Eastwood away from the podium. He was under the impression some homeless guy had wandered into the event and was just rambling incoherently. Clint started fighting back and in a moment they're rolling around on the stage throwing punches and knocking shit over. The audience rises to its feet and cheers.
In order to break up the fight, James Cameron leaps up there too, heroically breaking up the fight and stands between the two wheezing, panting brawlers to keep them separated. He leans into the mic and (as a diversion) announces his plans for his next movie project.

You inferred it had direct ties to your health
I supposed it would be you and I
But must confess 'twas such a lonely lie
C'est l'amoure and its ache dwells in my remembrance
Thou canst become dependent upon negative emotions
Resigning oneself to inevitability
When our entwinement reached its end
Your companionship you did extend
I will concede that I felt relief it was over
You did not have to sever ties
Between yourself and I, And promulgate misconception
I am devoid of amorous need
But your aloof demeanour irks me
Most voraciously
Crouching was unnecessary
While those of your acquaintance collected your vinyls
I tell you I am less than pleased
You're nothing but a passing acquaintance to me

It seems that 2012 may just be a flagship year for me.
As some of you probably remember, one of my flash-fiction pieces, "Reflections" was awarded a DD here some time ago. It has since vanished from my Gallery. That's because I took it, pared it down to 150 words and submitted it to The Binnacle's Annual Ultra-Short fiction contest.
I'm super pleased and excited to announce that it was selected as one of the Honorable mentions and will be published in The Binnacle's Ultra-Short edition this fall.

3rd UPDATE June 2012
Since I couldn't get a publisher and since lulu.com and blurb were just not suitable (the paper was crap at lulu and blurb was just way too expensive per book!!!!) I've designed the book myself and sent it to a local book printer.
I had to register for ISBNs (120 GB pounds!) and the cost of printing 100 books is 400 GB pounds making a total outlay of 520 GB pounds for 100 books ... making each book cost 5.20 GB pounds to produce. (They are due to be delivered at the end of August, they should be available from September!)
Now I thought it would be great to sell the book for 9.99 GB pounds (plus P+P) ... hey someone may buy it at that price ... however, I now find that Amazon demand a non-negotiable 60% reduction on the cover price .... I would have to sell to them for 4 GB pounds ... which means that if I sell via
Japan and the boom of the bland.Japan was famously reticent to embrace the western world until about a hundred years ago, and to be honest if they could've seen what we were going to do to their character design they'd probably have resisted a little bit longer. These days, just saying something is Japanese or Looks Japanese is enough to make it suddenly interesting. As if 'Japanese' meant the same as 'flecked in unicorn heads' or 'a mirror to your very soul', it's now a lazy adjective to make you think something is new and exciting. Fact is, there's plenty of terrible Japanese art same as there is plenty of terrible EveryOtherCountry art, it's just we're still in the honeymoon period with Japan so it can fart, burp, and not flush properly, and we won't mind.
If you've been to Japan, you'll know much of this is actually well deserved. It's a beautiful place
