It's been a while since I did not make a matte sci-fi scene and here is "The Terminal". This one is fully inspired by a French artist I discovered in the following book in french (sorry...): [link] It's Paul Chadeisson I should credit him for the composition and the brushes he kindly shared, check out his website: [link] Have a look at his gallery, it's really good.
Nevertheless, everything has been fully made by myself, no like for like elements. I added many things, details and textures.
Very inspired by Blade Runner, although not the same feel. Always wanted to do a huge sci fi city scape, and I had alot of fun with it. The image was made for an independent study for my English class. Cinema 4D, Vue, Photoshop and Wacom Tablet.
I included a pretty large file for download, so if you want to use it as a wallpaper feel free!
EDIT- Woo! A DD, im honored! Thanks so much Cymae and Samuel Nordius!!!
Condamned to exhile, a population completely left the earth to live inside a giant metal orb from their own conception and technologies. A new extra-nation in orbit rose, able to control their own artificial planet they live into.
I'm so glad to present to you the result of a lot of work on Vue and photohop in this science-fiction matte painting. I really thank the talented and friendly Lum mate for his help on this one. This one is probably the most achieve piece I've ever done so far.
The modelling of the sci-fi city has been entirely designed and modelled in Vue 9 by myself. It took me about 20-30 hours in the process playing with the nodes and filters following some pro tuts and stuff. Spaceships have been modelled and rendered in 3DSmax and all postwork has been done in Photoshop with quite a lot of little details here and there, textures and lights...!
I really hope you'll enjoy this one. The story is a city in the middle of the desert, swallowed through time by the sand. The title is of course in reference to Revenge of The Siths, so time now to find where is hidden the Jedi in the scene, mouhahahaaaa!!
Enjoy and thx for your favs and comments...and support!
I usually make it a point to thank everyone individually, because I never take interest in my work - by anyone - for granted, but in this case it's just too much! Every single comment and is truly appreciated though! It means a lot.
The beginning of colonization efforts somewhere at the outer rim of our known universe. The ship designs are based in part on real NASA concepts, just as the Helios colony vessel.
COMPOSITION: Textured environment (starfield) and digital painting (planets, nebulae), composed in Photoshop. My work. Scene and lighting setup in Lightwave with final composition of all elements in Photoshop (including all FX).
MESHED:Helios Colony Vessel & Ark Ship by Jason Tinsley, Heavy Shuttle & X33 Shuttle by Kenny Mitchell.
Original size: 4500x1600.
Comments and critique welcome.
Thank you very much to *TreeClimber for the valuable WIP input and suggestions!
