When Dinosaurs Roamed America
Episode 1: Ghosts
Ghost Ranch, New Mexico, is one of the strangest and perhaps frightening places on the planet. It is a desert, filled with sedimentary rock formations and dotted with sparse shrubs. But what makes it truly scary is not its obviously western appeal, but its lack of life and extreme number of the dead.
But this isn't something one would expect in your average 1950's horror film gone wrong. This place is full of the dead, but not humans. In fact, the dead here are over 200 million years old.
Ghost Ranch was the site of a fossil bed that paleontologists consider to be one of the more disturbing, and perhaps the most mysterious, ever found to date. At least 200 million years ago, during the Triassic period, this was once the site of a dinosaur massacre. Over a thousand preserved skeletons of a fossilized Coelurosaur dinosaur could be found in this site.

Izian groaned, starting to feel the hot sting of the dripping gash in his face. His teeth were drying out from their exposure and there was blood pouring down his visage. The guards couldn't take their eyes off of him and he ignored it when they asked him if he was alright.
Of course he wasn't alright, his face was destroyed, he would never marry now. His wife was stolen from him and that did more damage to him than the cut in his face. Those two criminals were going to suffer for what they had caused.
He nodded to one of his guards, who nodded back before shoving his shoulder into the door. It groaned and held, but after a few more tries the lock gave up and the door swung open.
There was a gasp as they looked inside. There was nothing there. Had the innkeeper lied to them. They filled the room, lifting bed sheets and checking behind the furniture. There were no people, no Mira, no Eradin, no one. And there was no sign of them.
Izian sighed, seeing the open window.

Mira stood in the corner, the edges of the mask digging into the soft flesh of her face. She wanted to take it off, that and the heavy gown she was wearing. It was pinned and tight, thick bolts of purple velvet with stones and metals hanging off of it. Was everything she would be able to wear purple?
It was as if she wasn't allowed to be herself. The mask kept her identity unknown but she had to keep up appearances anyway. She had to act like she knew what was going on in the country, that she knew laws and policies, and that she knew the same gossip as everyone else. She was pretending to be someone she wasn't. She didn't know any of it, so instead, she stayed in the corner, alone, not saying much to anyone.
There were people dancing, strange, intricate dances that they all seemed to know. It was not the kind of dancing that she was used to. Her tribe would dance to the sound of the wind, not a large band, and they would make up moves to go along with it, while they had a w

He darted down the corridor, looking for the stairs. Any moment now, the doors would fling open and guards would come pouring in after him. When he'd landed he'd only been seen by one and he'd been quick to dispose of him with one of his blow darts. The others must have found the unconscious guard by now and had caught onto his trail.
The doors weren't flung open though and by the time he found the stairs, another spiral staircase, he was staring to calm down. The guards here hadn't seemed that smart, maybe they hadn't figured out which way he had gone yet? Maybe they hadn't even found the tranquilized guard yet.
He wasn't sure to feel proud of himself or disgusted by these people.
He raced down the stairs, one hand brushing the side as he went. The faster he went, the faster his legs seemed to pump, even without him trying to. His momentum was beating his own speed, making him worry about falling. He wasn't even feeling the steps beneath him anymore, not sure how many he wa

Eradin's fists thundered against the cold iron gates. He needed to get back in. They had escorted him out without him even realizing it. He had thought that he would at least get to meet with the prince, be able to present Mira himself to him, but that hadn't been the case. She'd been snatched away from him.
He didn't even get to say goodbye to her. He didn't care how much she hated him, he had wanted to express his farewell's regardless. Now he would never get the chance. He would never see her again.
He had been so ready to be rid of her, to let her live a life without him. She seemed to hate him now that she'd seen him kill, even though he had done it all for her sake. She couldn't understand that and now she was going to marry a man that she could never love. She was trapped in the cold and bitterness of this castle with nothing more than a hateful boor of a husband who would never love her the way she needed to be. This wasn't any kind of life for her. Mira floated down the hall, her feet feeling very strange. They had pushed her small feet into these thick, stiff slippers, making it hard for her to even wriggle her toes. She had always been barefoot before, she didn't understand why they wanted her to change now. Her feet never touched the ground anyway, they couldn't have been dirty. They had scrubbed them until they hurt, removing what they said was dirt, but she knew was nothing. Afterwards, shoes. Why wash her feet so vigorously if no one was going to see them?
She felt constrained and it was hard for her to breathe. Her dress was soft, but much heavier than anything she'd ever worn before. The people of the forest rarely wore clothes at all, and when they did it was thin cotton slips, not heavy robes, belted and tied into place. The women said that the material was velvet or something like that.
The women moved her down the corridor, holding onto her wrists, lightly. She was surprised that they were allowed to even t

The palace was massive, larger than anything that Mira had seen before. She couldn't take her eyes off of it. It's sides were built of stone, which went high up into the sky. They were all bleached white and pale grays, held together with white mortar. At the tips were purple triangles of fabric, flags, which blew elegantly in the breeze. There were towers and turrets, the edges of it ridged in case of any sort of attack.
There were people all over it, walking and talking, and climbing stairs. They were all dressed the same, in metal suits and purple tunics. They must have worked for the king.
The palace was surrounded by a large village. It was much different from Terrace and, again, Mira kept pointing out oddities, asking Eradin for an explanation of what they were. She was very interested in a group of birds, they were fat and couldn't fly, they just waddled around each other pecking the ground. Some of them had long tails that curved in dark greens, but most just had sho

There were coyote's howling in the distance. That and his hard, thick breathing was all that he could hear in the dark night. When the breeze howled, mixing with the distinct cries of wolves, he shivered, the sound freezing his burning heart, the pounding beating as fast as a sparrows.

His legs were pumping as he ran, trying to ignore the coldness of his lungs. His oxygen tubes were tight, not allowing for much air to get into him. He pressed forward, forcing himself to keep going, not paying attention to the pain in his chest. He glanced from the footprints in the brush to the sides of the straight trail, looking at the broken branches and scraped bark.
His father had been in a hurry, not wanting to be caught by his son or by the ruffians of this forest. He had not taken the time to cover his tracks or to be careful of his surroundings, making it easy for Eradin to track him.
He didn't like this forest. It was menacing and dark, the trees reaching out with sharp branches, like boney limbs that wanted him. Their roots popped up from under the loose leaves and foliage, attempting to trip him. Light came through the branches like mist, not giving good light and making everything seem swampy. What made the Messer such a strange forest though was the sounds tha

Eradin didn't even understand how she could be sitting on the boulder as she was still floating just a few inches above it. Still, she was there, hovering over the boulder, her arms crossed over her chest, her nose in the air.

The sun shown high in the sky, raining down it's hot rays into the cool green lake, reflecting off of it with a golden hue. To the women who giggled and played in the lakes depths, it was nothing, an everyday miracle that they had no interest in. It had become normal for them, but they themselves were still full of interesting stories and light.
They splashed one another, the cold water striking the women's bare chests, making them squeal and giggle even harder, their hands immediately dipping back into the icy waters for playful revenge. They told stories of ill importance, things of the imaginations and dreams of the lands they had never seen.
These women were great friends and had no need for the serious conversations of civilized society. Not since they last man had left their presence. That was a long time before though, and the women here were fine without the protection of men. Fine without the control of the common human world.
They bathed without fear of being seen b

His lungs burned as he ran, clutching his side, trying to contain the smoke that fought through his esophagus. He could never run without it, without remembering his mother and the fire. He couldn't breathe, he couldn't run, his hands were going numb and his face blue. He could hear his father yelling, to the east. What were the words? He couldn't make them out. He turned, heading towards the older man, wanting to reach him before his hands turned to ice and his feet to lead. He couldn't run anymore. Fire, ice, smoke, his insides burning, and his outsides freezing while he tried to move until the root decided to interrupt his panicked thoughts. Most Tyrak invasions have been recorded as being advanced. They begin in simple stages; Brood Colonies are built on the surface of a world in secluded regions where access is limited to only certain key points. Most of the swarm's forces begin building in this region; growing in number and strength until they can leap into action and strike. The structures built are designed specifically to protect the Brood Colony and rapidly increase its defending numbers that is, until the colony begins its first stage of metamorphosis.
The second tier of the Tyrak invasion begins not long after a Brood Colony builds a cocoon around itself so that it and its queen can metamorphose into a Brood Nest. Upon changing, the Lair pumps the Queen inside with hormones that allow for quicker gestation and

Assume there exists a library, containing an infinite number of rooms, with an infinite number of books, filled with every possible combination of grammar, language, and letters.
This means that every novel ever written is contained somewhere in the library, along with every possible revision and edition.
It also means that most of the novels will be written in no discernable language.
Yet as the principle demands, there also exists a codex, a guide to every book written in an understandable way, essentially a guide to all possible combinations and knowledge.
It also means that each book is able to be a codex, if decoded using the corresponding counterpart.
Yet for every accurate codex there will be a deceptive one.
Therefore, every book has the potential to be a codex when examined through the correct lens.
This implies that language and writing are merely drawing from combinations of letters and words, that every thought is merely
