The Defence of Vandea"Squad Bravo, come in, over."
"This is squad Bravo, over."
"Brothers, the Alien have reached our position. Get the Captain to the Thunderhawk. It does not take a genius to establish we have failed The Emporer this day."
"Understood, brother. Emperor be with you."
The sky was a shroud of grey and blue with the occasional beam of almost-holy sunlight bathed the bloodied ground littered with amber-clad Tau soldiers somewhere deep in the jungles, along with the unpreserved bodies of fallen Blood Ravens. The Alien forces of the Tau Empire had destroyed most of our Orbital Beacons, levelled our Land Speeder production facility on the western side of the jungle, and Rhino Transport factory to the east of our stronghold.
"Brothers, stand your ground! The Alien scum approaches!" I ordered, pulling the enormous cocking handle back on my .75 caliber Bolter with a heavy clunk. The sounds of readying weapons behind me as two squads of Blood Ravens took cover behind sandbag emplacements and s

Sons and daughter of Helgan. For many years, we have been a broken nation.
And conquered by those we sought to escape!
Ten years ago! I asked for time, and time was granted by you. You!
The strength in my arm, the holders of my dreams.
Our forefathers embarked, on the greatest exodus, in the history of all mankind.
Ann exodus for freedom,
Helgan became that freedom!
Our new world, changed our bodies. At first, it weakened us, but in fact, we were only growing stronger.
In the time you have given me I have rebuilt our nation,
I have rebuilt our strength, and I have rebuilt our pride.
Our enemies at home have been reeducated,
We have given them new insights into our cause,
On this day we stand united once more,
On this day, those driven to divide us will hear our voice!
On this day we shall act as one!
And we shall be ignored no more!

My, my, what a sweet voice. Like a melody to my ears.
I follow the trail of the voice, which echoed through out the corridors of Rapture.
I see a small girl, pale in the flesh and dressed in a dirtied pink dress, but her eyes.
Oh, those wonderful, luminous yellow eyes.
"Mr B, let's go! The Angels can't wait for us!" her angelic little voice teases as she takes my finger and leads me through the dark, damp back alleys of Rapture in search of... well, whatever that red liquid is. I look out at the submerged city, and take note of the tranquility beneath the waves.
Wait, who's that?
I see a large, ugly, diving-suited monster with a horrible luminous light staring at me.
Oh, silly me, that's just my reflection.
She stops by an object.
It's like a person, just it's not moving.
What is that?
Is that an 'Angel'?
She tugs at my finger, getting my attention
"Hurry up mr B! I can smell another Angel!" she innocently pleads, releasing her grip and skipping off further down the c

Wait, that's someone crying.
I wonder who's upset.
Scaling across the walls with hands of scabs and claw, I yearn to find out who keeps crying.
I come to the edge of the wall, poking my hooded head around, I see a pale, lonely girl hunched against the dark, dirty walls of a residence. What should I do? Should I go talk to her? Or should I leave her be?
Ew, what's that smell? It smells like-
Them again! Those nasty people with boomsticks!
I withdraw to the rooftop, still keeping sight of the upset girl. In the distance, I see those bright beams of light slicing through the dust and grime that clings to the air. They're walking cautiously, like they know something's up. Suddlenly, the beams stop moving,
They can hear the crying girl, they'll hurt her!
I spring down onto the sidewalk with lightning speed and scurry to the crying girl's side, slyly approaching her with bashful cautiousness. I slowly raise my hand closer to her, eve

"Sounds like she's close." Zoey said, following up. Louis and Bill both turned their lights off and began to slowly walk in a careful sidestep for the crying. It echoed through the warehouse and caused a mix of fear and sympathy through the survivors.
"Hold on a minute." Bill said standing still in front of the others. "I gotta heal." He grabbed at the first-aid kit on his back and mended the wounds all around his body. As he was close to finishing, he heard the shrill yelling almost similar to a wildcat.
"Hunter!" Louis shouted, aiming his gun wildly to wherever the noise may have been coming from. Bill was the first to spot it as he stood erect from healing. It came inches from successfully pouncing on his head. Bill quickly grabbed at his assault rifle and aimed for him, shooting rapid-fire for his head. The Hunter managed to dodge each bullet with a high jump to the second l
The Hunter and the WitchThe hooded figure, crouched high above everything around himself, noted his scenery. He was in a sugar mill, on top of a silo, and it was a very rainy day. The ground was covered in ankle-deep water. But that didn't matter to him. It was far below, and he was free to go almost anywhere he pleased. Crouching further still and placing his hands in front of him, he then leaped, going far, far into the air before landing with a heavy thud on top of a before-distant silo that was slightly higher than the last. From here, he could see even more of the mill. The Hunter and the Witch5 years ago in Short Stories More Like This
But he wasn't just sightseeing, he was looking for something in particular; or rather, someone in particular. After a time of sitting there, he finally heard it; muffled sobs coming from a fair distance to the left. He leaped once again, traveling far into the air, the wind and rain on his face as he did so. He landed once again with an even heavier thud than before on a silo far to the left and only about half as tall as the previous.
A Failed Protector-HXW oneshot As the night sky stretched across the city, a timid looking girl crawled out of the shadows. Her hair was as pale as her skin. Her clothes, or at least under clothes, were torn and dirty. Tears streamed down her face as she wobbled down the cobbled trail leading to a park. Though despite all this, no one goes near this helpless looking girl for one reason. The red claws she bares on her fingers. The moon was bright and the air cool that night, the moon lighting the dusty sand with a peaceful twilight. My horse gave a gentle whinny which I quickly hushed, I didn't need my cover to be blown just yet. I gave a quick glance to my flanks and raised my wide-brimmed hat ever so slightly, the moonlight catching my eyes. Grabbing the reigns, I ushered my horse to slowly trot as galloping would attract too much attention. As he trotted, I kept a lookout amongst the ruins of the once-to-be town, some of the wood still smoldering. The charred skeletons of women and children accompanied these scorched remains. I felt no sorrow or compassion for these people as they brough this fate upon themselves. At the corner of my eye I caught sight of a sihlouette couching over another. I gently pulled back on the reigns and leapt off of my horse, and quietly drew back the right side of my cloak. I unholstered my Colt and slowly walking towards the figure. Glancing

He sat on a rooftop, shadowed by the moon and the deep midnight-blue of the night sky. A soft breeze made its way across the top of the dark buildings, ruffling the fabric of his hood as he lost himself in his thoughts. Hunter is frightening, he is angry, a monster. Or so he thinks, for his friends see him as a friendly, sweet guy. He sighed, looking over the expance of the city that stretched before him. He looked down the length of the large building, hordes of undead scattered around the base and through the streets. They were dying slowly, lack of human flesh taking its toll.
A voice behind him made him jump.
"Hoods" said Smoker, using the groups pet name for him, "Me and Boomer are going to the attack the survivors that shacked themselves up downtown". Smoker sat down beside Hunter

Chapter One: First Meeting
She had been alone for so long she had forgotten what it was like to curl up beside someone. She couldn't remember the sound of her own voice; she hadn't seen another human being since the outbreak. Even then she had been locked in a small room with a bed, and a heart monitor. She shook her head clearing her thoughts of that dreaded place; she could see people now stumbling around. Common infected, in other words classic mindless zombies! She let out a low growl as she ran out of the building; they stared at her with their glassy eyes sending chills running up her spine. She let out a hiss and grinned as they backed away, then she turned and stalked to a nearby alley. She wedged herself into the corner facing the mouth of the alley waiting for night to fall
After awhile she began to cry softly, the memories of her life as well as the pain of her claws extending causing her to sob. She heard whispers to her left and turned to face the door; sti

To run away
We all depart
No way to stay
But memories stay
No need to be saddened
We want it this way
Our time to leave
Is not always the same
As what you want it to be
There's just no one to blame
Better to live on in sadness
Have a ghost chase away all your fears
A death with a hundered sad faces
Is better than one with no tears
Startle and PounceIt had been mere hours since she turned, and already, Rose seemed to get used to everything about being a Witch. Her short, black and red hair paled to a dull gray and her once blue eyes were shining red. The purple turtleneck she wore was torn and stained with blood from cuts she accidentilly gave herself from her long, sharp fingers. And since she turned, all she was able to do was cry.Startle and Pounce4 years ago in Short Stories More Like This
She understood why, too. She kept a sense of human consciousness and thought. Everything she knew about how she turned remained in her mind.
Struggling to her feet, she began to wander down the alley she was in. Her vision was poor from the change and from how before she couldn't see without glasses. But her other senses were hightened to an almost painful level. Every sound make her jump, the feeling in her hands was excruciating, and the oddly intoxicating aroma of sugar drew her to where she was going. She kept her long fingers over her eyes as she continued sobbing, staggering through the alley sl
To hug a WitchThe sobbing echoed off the alley walls, never seeming to end. The seemingly eternal crying of a Witch. She was curled up in front of a door, next to a trashcan at the end of the alley. Just crying. Endlessly. She had shoulder-length blond hair with dark tips. She was skinny, and pale. She wore a torn white shirt and dirty white panties. The bottoms of her feet, her knees, and her hands were dark and dirty. On her hands long, thick claws had grown. A young survivor heard her, he was a young man about twenty. He didn't know the dangers of special infected, and looked around eagerly ready to blow off the heads of anything that moved. He spotted her; he pointed his flashlight at her and got ready to shoot; "Sexy mother fucker" He grinned "Too bad I have to blow you to bits!" she didn't notice him, he was a good enough distance away that the flashlight didn't bother her. A Hunter heard the crying, he cocked his head listening. He wore a dirty, dark blue hoodie with the hood pulled over hisTo hug a Witch4 years ago in Sketches More Like This
