Un-Occupy the InternetAre you tired of stupid governments trying to institute laws which regulate your internet use?
Are you sick of feeling like your voice is not being heard?
Have you tried some form of protest (in whatever country you might live), only to be beaten, tear gassed, or otherwise told to "shut up!"
Are you, like so many of us world-wide, disgusted with the unequal distribution of wealth? Sick of being part of the 99%?

Last month, we all saw just what kind of power we actually have... we shut down SOPA/PIPA
Millions of people world-wide decided we didn't want this stupid law, and we said so, in a very clear, very loud voice... and we can do the same to protest everything else we feel is wrong with the world.
This being leap year, we have one extra day this month, February 29, and I propose that we all Un-Occupy the Internet on that day.

- randomize color keyframe position in the random gradient generator to create more interesting gradients

More DOF fun: JWildfire V0.63 releaseJust released JWildfire V0.63.
Major new feature are even more DOF controls and the possibility to combine the famous Buddhabrots with flame fractals!
Complete list of changes:
- new parameters "area" and "exponent" for DOF (depth of field). The parameter "area" controls the size of the area with low blur, the parameter "exponent" controls the increase of blur with distance from the focus point
- restored the old method to calculate DOF (before V0.62) and allow to switch between old and new method freely (i. E. all your old flames look as you designed them)
- buddhabrot mode for all "classic fractal" variations (beginning with "fract…")
- "lazyTravis" variation my Michael Faber
- the brightness slider has now its maximum at 20.0 (before this was 10.0)

Major new feature is the possiblity to visually specify the focus point for calculating dof (depth of field) effects. So its much more easy to to create fractal images with awesome "depth" effects. There is short tutorial on those new features:

- special edit mode to specify the focus point visually (by dragging it with the mouse)

- allow to change the camera yaw angle by dragging the mouse in the preview window (hold left and right mouse button)

Mouse editing fun: JWildfire V0.59 releaseThis time the new release has not really a lot of new features… but one new striking one: the long awaited view editing mode is now available

You can now just drag, rotate and zoom your fractal the way it should have been working from the first day

This mode is now the default editing mode, it works as follows:
- left mouse button: drag the fractal ("CentreX" and "CentreY")
- right mouse button: rotate ("Roll") the fractal
- middle mouse button/mouse wheel: zoom ("Pixels per unit") the fractal

- new interactive view editing mode (move, rotate, zoom)
- color and color symmetry does also affect the new fract_* family of variations
- lots of internal refactoring regarding the dancing flames editor (does not affect current state of features but makes it more easy to add new features soon)

A new amazing box experimentI had the idea of an amazing "box" with an infinite folding in x,y directions (normal fold acts only once, so each iteration generates nine spheres) and no fold at all in z direction - like the amazing surf, more or less.
Result looks very interesting, because each sphere is covered with an infinity of spheres, I thought that share this new idea can be useful to Mandelbulb users.

There are many artists on here who I admire and find give me inspiration to keep going. One of the first I came across who really blew me away is

His entire gallery is magic. I really find his style very visually appealing and creative and would recommend anyone to have a good poke around his gallery. His titles for his pieces are always excellent and well chosen too.

Dancing for Joy in the Temple of LoveAnd things are looking better and better. I always feel I should add something extra so I'm topping off the page with a page from the Story, "The Sands of Time".
I've taken my time putting things up. I suppose being a comment whore as something to do with it. But I'm still getting my favorites in there making comments.

New tools for artists: JWildfire V0.53 releaseJust released JWildfire V0.53.
Major additions where made to fractal flame editor regarding to controlling image quality at the artist level. There is now an antialiasing option which you can specify at the transform level and some additional powerful gradient manipulation tools.
Complete list of changes:
- new antialising option on the transform level, you can control this by two parameters: amount (how many samples are affected by this effect) and radius (how strong is the antialasing effect)
- new gradient manipulation functions: invert and reverse gradient
- new gradient manipulation properties: blur and frequency
- changed the layout of the main toolbar so that it better resizes according to different screen resolutions
- new built-in script example (based on "Mobius Dragon" by penny5775)
- using multiple threads for tonemapping of the realtime preview which should result in smoother behaviour on most machines

"This is Simon, Mark's brother, with the terribly sad news that Mark passed away last week.
This was a huge shock to us all.
I helped him set up his PC with all his drawing tools so knew how much he adored producing his bespoke digital artwork and how much the Deviant art community meant to him.

Plugin fun: JWildfire V0.52 releaseJust released JWildfire V0.52 after a rather long time.
I had started to create an alternative external renderer (specialized to render movies more quickly) in the meantime. This release is something like an "intermediate release". It has lots of internal optimizations, many new plugins to play with and some bugs fixed. But the new renderer is not yet included because this would have been just to much work in this time period.
So this release contains many smaller enhancements and you may look forward for the upcoming V0.53 which will bring up some really new stuff

Yea, QR Codes! They are very easy to use and to create. You download a QR Reader to your smartphone and some apps will create a code for you. However I discovered this site that is super easy to use and that will create QR Codes in multiple size options. Just go to http://goqr.me/ and start making your first QR Code in seconds.

news & DOUBLE FEATURE!!!Hello all my friends and watchers... this week I am taking a break from my normal plan to feature each of the donors who contributed to my pool and enabled me to get my premium membership back, but rest assured, I will continue that process next week.
In the meantime, I have a couple news items, and a special double feature this week.
In the news, as most you may have already heard, Neil Armstrong, the first man to walk on the moon died this past week... a very sad thing indeed. You may or may not have heard, and perhaps do not care to know that the Actress/Comedienne Phyllis Diller also passed away this past week... some of you are probably too young to really be aware of Ms. Diller, I would bet some of are really too young to know much about Mr. Armstrong... but still its very sad news.

Neil ArmstrongApollo 11 was the spaceflight which landed the first humans, Americans Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin, on the Moon on July 20, 1969, at 20:18 UTC. Armstrong became the first to step onto the lunar surface 6 hours later on July 21 at 02:56 UTC. A third member of the mission, Michael Collins, remained alone in lunar orbit until they returned from the surface about 15 hours later. All three astronauts returned to Earth safely after travelling in space for 8 days. and today on August 25,2012 we lost him so in his honor here are a couple of videos.
This one was done back in 2009 for the 40th anniversary of his walk on the moon.
