Garadun sat in the command couch of his Hunchback, his feet up on the control panel and his neurohelmet hanging on its hook on the side of the chair as he listened to music and read a magazine. He was ready for the match, but Jimmy wasn't.
After asking for and getting a bunch of volunteers from the Innsbruck Militia's technical company to help him, Jimmy had gone to the abandoned factory the next day to set up remote holocameras all over the ruined factory to capture the entire upcoming match. Unfortunately, the job had been a lot more difficult than expected and they had had to continue their work all through Saturday morning, the day of the fight itself. It was now past 1600 hours local time and they were still at it. The holocameras had sat in sub-zero temperatures for more than a day and several of them had had to be replaced. Jimmy and his team were in the process

The Altstadt Palace was the most spectacular building on Kolovraty and the official residence of Duke Josef Sheridan. First built in 2673 when the system was part of the Rim Worlds Republic, the building was a close copy of the Hofburg Palace found in Vienna, Austria on Old Earth. The ruler of Kolovraty at the time had wanted something beautiful and grand, and had looked to the distant past for inspiration. It had been badly damaged during the Amaris Civil War, but when the Lyran Commonwealth annexed the system after the war, Duke Sheridan's ancestor restored it to its former glory.
In the heart of the palace complex were a series of magnificent halls that could serve a variety of functions, and one of the most impressive was the Ceremonial Hall. It was here that Duke Sheridan was hosting the royal ball in honour of the Fusiliers. In attendance were assorted members of Kolovraty's nobi

Standing on an outcropping of rock at the top of a hill, with the Great Boreal Forest behind him and the Inn Valley stretching out in front of him, and Apollo in its red, blue and purple glory filling a large part of the sky, Garadun couldn't help but feel moved by the beauty of Kolovraty. This was a world worth protecting.
He took a deep breath, enjoying the fresh cool air. It was a few degrees above freezing and there was a thin layer of snow on the ground, broken up across the valley with bare patches of open terrain. He could just make out the Inn River from here. He understood why people had made this planet their home. He gave a last look around, then made his way back to where his Hunchback stood waiting. He climbed the ladder to the 'Mech's shoulder and stood for a moment before retracting the chain ladder and ducking into the cockpit, sealing the hatch behind him.

The Fighting Fusiliers were a brand-new mercenary company and a small one at that, but traditions have to start somewhere. One thing that seemed to be emerging as a Fusilier tradition was taking on people who were misfits in one way or another.
Take their new recruit, Laura Bauer. She was twenty-six standard years old and tall and beautiful, with blue eyes and long blonde hair. But her model-quality looks weren't what made her a misfit. It was her record.
Hailing from the Lyran Commonwealth world of Mississauga, Laura came from a middle-class family with a history of military service. Both her parents had been in the LCAF as enlisted personnel. They had saved up and sent their daughter first to the Port St. William Military School, and then on to the highly respected Coventry Academy. Laura had thrived and worked very hard. She'd done so well in fact that s

Cera checked her pockets one last time to make sure she had everything, then locked the door to her flat and made her way down the stairs to the ground floor of her apartment building and out the front door, pausing to keep it open for Mrs Fujita, her elderly neighbour who thanked her for her kindness.
Garadun was parked and waiting for her in front of the building, and she quickly got into the car with him. Barely audible, the vehicle's electric motor revved higher as he got them going. His car was a Scarab, a common model produced by Gienah Automotives, who also supplied wheeled armoured fighting vehicles to the Lyran military. The car was affordable and could go for about 1500 kilometres before needing a recharge. Garadun's had its fair share of dings and scratches, with a rear bumper sticker that read MY OTHER CAR IS A BATTLEMECH. Which, ironically, was true.
The sky was dismally grey and overcast,

In the universe, there are an infinite number of dimensions, an infinite number of realities where people of different species go about their lives, most utterly oblivious to the fact that such an infinite number of possibilities exist. For those who do know, this knowledge is more often than not considered to be too mind-bendingly overwhelming to think about, and they do their best to ignore it, usually over a hot cup of tea.
But this story is not about any such people.
The ones in this story are completely unaware that they have lived many different lives, being reborn again and again, destined to be the best of friends, bosom buddies, two peas in a pod you get the idea. Their names are Cera and Garadun. These names were given to them when they first came into existence, and they've been stuck with them in one form or another through all their various lives. Let it not be said that Fate doesn't h

Garadun strolled into the Innsbruck Barracks main hangar wearing his cooling suit, his neurohelmet tucked under his arm. It seemed like forever since he'd done this and he was filled with a great sense of excitement. He had a BattleMech again.
Everything had gone pretty much to plan. It had taken two days to get Shearling ready for launch, and then she had lifted off to meet with Distant Memory at the pirate point. The ship jumped to Newton Square where Shearling detached and began the in-system journey, which took just over four standard days. There was some bureaucracy to deal with once they landed, which slowed things down, but Jimmy was able to give the Stinger in question a complete inspection. It was a typical STG-3R model, about ten years old and in relatively good shape. It would need work and customization to bring it up to Fusiliers standards, but th

Appearance: Amelie is a short, stocky female wolf. Her fur is a dingy white, and is very scruffy and coarse. She has a scar over one of her eyes and greyish accents on her belly, chest, and tail. Her eyes are a fiery orange and a vibrant green, and there is usually a look of curiosity and adventure in her eyes, mixed with a longing look. She usually appears as if daydreaming or not paying attention to whats being said, because she finds interest elsewhere. She follows things she sees out of the corner of her eye, and disipline doesnt help her daydreaming. If she`s ignoring you, she`d much rather you shutup.
Personality: She is plucky and ready to go adventure, silly, but dead serious at times. She knows when to pick her fights, and can judge if she will win or not. She usually strays away from fighting, but when provoked, can be a vicious fighter. She is loving to her family and friends, but her flaws include saying offensive things at odd times, apologizing constan

As he pondered this, a sharp pain seared into his arm. He looks down at his bloody paw and saw that there was yellowish skin surrounding it. He assumed it was infected . . .
Believe it or not, he was really hoping by now that Bakhita knew what she was doing . . .
His life depended on it.
His vision seemed to fog, but it was slight. "Go on, Shia," he said sleepily. Shia continued, but the words didn't process, the voiced ebbed away . . . he could hear a drone of voices, and then a small uproar, but it didn't matter, it didn't process, it didn't come to his thought of what it could be. It was a small chasm Kedu saw, with the forest disappearing and it was now fading into blackness . . .

Location: Bitald - Aurora Research Station
Almost immediately after arriving on Bitald and Hralmirth, humans were baffled by their ability to transform (quadrupedal/main form and bipedal/anthro form). After years of tests were performed on Teclids, all they determined was that the ability wasn't hereditary. They compared human and Teclid DNA to try to find the specific genetic sequences involved, and as a last ditch effort combined the two. Much to their surprise, a living hybrid (albeit deformed, sickly, and dying) was created.
While most of the scientists who were involved with the project moved onto other things, a small group continued to work in under orders from the military government continued to work to perfect the hybrid.
Although the initial project was a failure and the hybrids couldn't transform like they had hoped, hybrids proved to be an intelligent and hardy species.

Somewhere between the bridge house and the hotel, a child leaped upon my back and started pummeling my shoulders violently. Fearing for my life and wallet, I tossed the parasite against a wall, much to the disgust of the passers-by. The child then flared his teeth in a way which my translator interpreted as "biscuits", though I'm sure he meant something more profane. Needless to say, it wasn't the best start to a holiday.
Upon entering the hotel I was greeted by another of the large worms, who extended a tendril in some sort of gestural greeting. He kept his tendril extended for quite some time, after which I realized I was probably meant to reciprocate the gesture, so I stuck my hand out too. He then grasped my wrist and started caressing my hand with his tendrils for another extended period of time, after which

He still didn't open his eyes, but he spoke so much clearer. It relieved them- his voice did irk them before.
"Where am I?" He asked Bakhita, seeing as he didn't get as much result from Kedu.
Bakhita was just as helpful. "Beats me. I thought you knew, seeing we found you here, " She said gently. But the panic in her eyes were clear; They honestly had no idea where Shia had come from, and Shia seemed to be just as confused.
"I think we should go back to the cave. Come on Shia, I think you can make the flight," Bakhita asked. Shia moaned. He stretched out his wing a bit, and it was clear to both of them- his wing was broken. They were stuck down there with two flightless Amtsuks.
"Damnit." Bakhita said under her breath. There was no way that she could get TWO fightless Amtsuks to a cave nearly a thousand feet above sea level. She sighed and looked over at Kedu, who had a look of pure boredom and annoyance.

I gazed in horror-stricken awe at the sight that lay before me. What was known to be the most haunted place stood in front of me, the structure itself looking menacing enough to make a child cry by its shadow alone.
"Crazy looking, isn't it?" I looked over to the person next to me, seeing that he was gazing at me intently, waiting for me to answer.
"Oh." I looked away, realizing that the fear on my face was showing. "It looks... pretty crazy, indeed."
"And, tomorrow," the boy standing next to me turned, "we go inside it!"
My eyes widened with shock. "Wait, what?" I flung myself around at him. "I'm not going in that thing! It's waaaaaay too scary! Heck.... A baby cried by just looking at that building's shadow! That's gotta show you something!"
Stewart and I had just heard of a haunted house nearby and decided to go look at it. The house was on Gallowthier Drive. I found the part of the name "Gallow" to be foreboding and make me want to turn away mainly because the gallows were w

I feel the walls closing in on me.
I wake up in the middle of the night from a peacful sleep.
A sleep reminding me of what i lost.
What I let go.
What I didn't fight for.
And what was my fault.
In the middle of the night, I start to cry.
All alone, in the dark, feeling cold.
Falling back asleep unaware.
As my brain shuts down from exhaustion.
From pain and suffering.
And once again I drift off into unconciousness.
This time, not having a dream.
I lose myself in total darkness, it engulfs me.
I wake up late in the afternoon.
Feeling out of tune with the world, with everyone.

And once again, my body meets the floor.
Dizzy. Hurt. My heart aches for him.
The feel of a cold hand over my heart.
Every ounce of my body begins to feel numb.
I lay there, on the floor, feeling alone, cold and hurt.
I hear a noise.

After a particularly thrilling documentary on animals eating other animals the night before, I woke up refreshed and ready for anything, except maybe aliens, which was unfortunate because that was what I was facing.
It was raining outside, so I put on my coat and pulled it close around me. If there was one thing I absolutely abhorred, it was getting a little bit of rain down my collar.
I stepped out of my house, bid goodbye to my mother and father and began the labourious task of stepping in every puddle I came across on my walk to school. There wasn't even a sense of fun in it any more, it was all about duty now.
The upshot of all this puddle jumping made me feel a little bit more Icelandic than usual and a lot later to school than I usually was. I shuffled into the assembly hall where everyone was almost done sitting down. I moved to where my class was and sat down quickly.
“I will cover your head in jam.”

Oran overviewzooplantae (plant/Animal)Oran overview3 years ago in Sketches More Like This
The majority of Oranian vertebrae (animal)are capable of some sort of photosynthesis. They are along the border of plant and animal. Their cells have both characteristics of both a plant and an animal. They have animal like cells but a root-frame made out of cells similar to a plant. But both kinds of cells have the same DNA. The only reason zooplantae calls are different is that the DNA is expressed differently.
True plant and animal
Oran also has species of true plants and animals (lifesimilar to earth's plants and animal). True plants have a much more widespread across the planet and are much more noticeable than true animals. True plants are categorized by their photosynthesizing pigments Teal, green, and orange.
Teal plants are fond near the equator and have very thick gel cooled leaves. The teal pigment is highly effective but needs to be constantly kept cool as to not damage the leaf. These plants are usually (thoug

Betterment? I believe humanity may never be as such
Eternally we circle around each other
Livid spirits filled with hatred
In discord since time began
Even until the ends of the earth our empathy turned
Vile, forever and ever filled with detestation
Everlasting in our bitterness of war and domination
I do believe there is more we can do
Man has failed to see
All the wonder and peace that hides within
Gayas folded trees, hidden
In her forests, shimmering hopes
Non- restraint over and over into the
Eternal fields of sunshine
Purposely the sun rises each day, shining her loves rays over the
Earth, but who can speak of the beauty the sun gave us today?
Anyone out there? Does anyone listen to the soft
Call of the earth any longer? Or are we too
Egotistical to stop and listen
Light the candle, be the glimmer of hope in the darkness
The Beauty WithinThe Beauty Within6 years ago in Urban & Spoken Word More Like This
True beauty radiates
From deep within
Never trust only the appearance
Of those you meet,
For people who are beautiful on the outside
Are inside often corrupt
And those who may have flaws without
Are so often filled with love
So do not look upon me
And only see the color of my skin
The few pounds extra that do not seem
To want to wither away
Look and see the melody
That shines from within
Listen to the stories, hear the sweet harmony
And forever be my friend.
