so here's my entry for the Mama contest

The Toe Biter, was something that lived underneath my bed. for some reason it craved feet (MY FEET) and would be waiting for me to hang them over. or stand too close to my bed, so i'd have to run and jump back into bed.

here's some different, better lit angles of him as well. [link]

I had a lot of fun making this guy and I'm really enjoying seeing everyone else's entries.

well thanks for looking!

This is Lena a Think Pink Guardian Angel

She's my entry for the Artisan Crafts category in the Think Pink V contest. [link]

She's had a complete facial repaint where all her original factory paint was removed, and then lovingly repainted with artist quality acrylics. Her hair is styled with two simple lace braids on the sides that join together with a hand beaded barrette. A closeup can be found here

Her wings were created with tons of hand picked white feathers, and is securely fastened to the doll.

The design on her corsette was tooled into very thin tooling leather and then the entire piece was painted pearlized white and & the design in deep pink. Tooling a think pink ribbon that small was a challenge! *grin* It laces up on the side with gorgeous nylon thread through tiny silver eyelets. Her skirt is made from a gorgeous pink crepe that has been hand embroidered with a blanket stitch.

For her shoes, I made her viking/guille boots from thin silver leather & painted the edges pink. A closeup of them can be seen here...

I named her after my grandmother, who lost her battle with cancer way before I was even born. She's always been my Guardian Angel.

This is my submission for the Art Water Bottle.
I did the "beach" make-up myself, which took roughly an hour or two.

There's a beach on my eyes with sand, water and land surrounding it, then on my lips the sand continues with a little starfish.

This work is submitted to the THE SOLIDARITY CONTEST for the cause of fight against poverty (contest submission by 10/17/08).

CATEGORY: Artisan Crafts > Custom Dolls

TITLE: Angelic Goddess Belldandy Believes in Solidarity

Belldandy's always-positive outlook reminds me that hope springs eternal. In a tiny form, she floats atop pile of multiple grains from Lands of Plenty from around the World, and wishes that People of the World unite and work together to fight against poverty and hunger.

More abstractly, this could be viewed as a much larger-than-life goddess gracing over the land, with the grains as the surfaces of the Earth and the upper edge as the curvature of the planet. The areas Belldandy has graced turned from dark to light.

********

ABOUT THE FIGURE:

This Belldandy is a resin figure that I custom built and painted. It was customized from a garage kit (GK). The modifications/build, assembly and paint work took over 100 hours, over a span of nine months. She is entirely hand-brushed by me. :D

The figure is 1/12-scale, measuring 6.0 inches tall (15.2 cm), excluding the snowcap mountain base. Her face is about the size of pinky fingernail. For a sense of the tiny scale, please see Making of Angelic Belldandy.

The following list shows significant modifications I made to the basic GK:
- This Belldandy's wings were donated to another figure I made: Custom Urd Figure, Pose 3
- Extensive putty work on the existing hair pieces.
- Added hair strands and the bangs.
- Modified her back.

********

ABOUT THE CHARACTER:

For those who do not recognize the character, she is Belldandy, Goddess of the Present, from the manga/anime Ah! My Goddess (character copyright: Kousuke Fujishima).

HERE IS THE FINISHED ONE!

I'm drawing this portrait again. So I decided to post it here in contest at that time of drawing I stopped my previous work (sadly never finished).

The first drawing is VERY important to me as I decided to ficus mostly on drawing portrait since then.

It was in April 2010.

When I look at new drawing I can believe HOW MUCH I improved my drawing in just 2.5 year. I'm really proud. I don't say such thing often.

I know that deviation for this contest should be an original work, but this drawing is very personal, important for me.

Is it always so clear and obvious where is the evil and where is the good?
Aren't we, perhaps, ever torn and confused in this uncertainty?
